All we can hope is that Dwight has been enjoying his time in LA enough that he can give the Lakers the thumbs-up this go-around. Getting Bynum back makes the rebuilding much less painful than it would be with just Lopez.

Both Bynum and Lopez need to be paid soon so getting them back for a rebuild period is worthless.

My Opinion on what needs to be done..

Post#523 » by MagicTime1 » Fri May 25, 2012 1:10 am

It's obvious we're in deep doodoo, I love my Magic but I think its time to start over without really starting over, here are a couple of trades I would try to attempt if I was our future GM, if things with Dwight does not work out.

Houston trades: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Kyle Lowrie, M.Morris, 2 1st rd picks
Orlando trades: Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu

and then make this simple trade

Minnesota trades: Brad Miller
Orlando trades: Jason Richardson

After these trades, we get some cap relief and 3 1st round picks that we can get young stars, or even use them to trade for a top 5 pick or a superstar

Lowrie / Duhon
Martin / JJ Redick / Wafer
FA? / Clark / Q Richardson
Ryan Anderson / Luis Scola / Harper
Glen Davis / Brad Miller

Its not the best, but I think in the long run it might be a successful plan, what do my fellow Magic fans think?

really? I tried hahahah! I just think cap relief, a total of 3 1st round picks would of been a great thing for us. I guess Bynum and trash, or Brook Lopez w/ Marshon Brooks and IF Nets get the 1st overall pick would be alot better. I wouldnt mind if we had to start over that we do it with Anthony Davis

thelead wrote:I think you have an idea of what you re prepared to do but I don't see how the Magic can definitively say, right now, that Dwight WILL be traded. What if you get a big name GM that can sell Dwight on a quick turnaround? Why make a decision right now? Don't you want to see what the draft order looks like? Who your coach is? What can actually be done with the rest of the roster?

One last thing to remember, RDV is old and wants a championship. I don't think he'll get to see it if we trade Dwight and start a rebuild. I think this is key and why Dwight wasn't traded this year.

But its a catch-22, how can you get a big name gm with the sell that we hope your signing will keep Dwight around? You have to make the decision now, the new hiring has to come with Dwight's blessing or to be prepared to facilitate a trade instead, and the person we get will hinge on that fact. Unless you want to go back to ideas of having Foyle there, then it doesn't matter near as much. I'm sure he would take the job either way, others not as likely perhaps. That's why it makes sense to me that Dwight is being forced yet again on making some decisions, and why he might get traded this summer rather than the deadline.

We all know Sheridan gets paid with every click of a link. That's more then enough reason to completely fabricate a story about Dwight.

Not stating this as fact, the story may actually be true, but knowing the little I know about the blogging business, it wouldn't shock me if he just made it up.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

dwight said the interview coming out tomorrow is like 2 months old, he said a lot has changed since then, 2 months ago he was demanded a trade and people said he wanted stan fired, so you can imagine the interview

Really nice list of GM candidates. I'll be pulling for Walsh still but any of them sounds great.

Yeah, I was just wondering how he heard that the interview reflected that he wanted out. I hate to read too much into stuff, but now that Dwight said things have changed, I'll fall into the trap and do so.

Donnie Walsh, Bower, or Pritchard would do wonders for our teams. I want us to stay away Mullin I just dont beleive in him after what happened with the Warriors. Ohhh im excited for this offseason!

GMs in consideration are probably pitching 2 plans of attack. #1 being "how would you build around Dwight and how quick can you turn it around?". #2 being "would you be interested in rebuilding without Dwight, and if so, how would you do it?"

You've got to imagine that some of these guys might only want to come here because of Dwight, and they may not be interested in turning things around otherwise.

Given that we're looking into high caliber, championship level guys, I'd imagine we've got hopes of competing for one soon, and the most realistic of those hopes would have to acknowledge that it would be easier and faster to build around Dwight.

Meanwhile, I'd imagine the Magic are relaying the proposals from the GMs to gauge how interested/likely Dwight is to sign on to those plans. If he's flat out disinterested in any and all offers then they'll consider trading him.

spinedoc wrote:If this rumor didn't have any legs to it, then why haven't we heard from Dwight or his girl friend via twitter already? She comes blasting out every time she sees something wrong about her man, why not now then? I think the report is true. Why would anyone make something up like this out of thin air? These people want to get ahead in the business, I just don't see why they would report something without some kind of insight. Sure, it may end up being wrong, which is completely different than making the whole thing up.

Just because you ask that question doesn't make it a logical connection with the idea that Orlando wants to trade him. Until Orlando says so or have shown that's what they are doing then this story is speculation. And if it so happened that they do trade him, it doesn't make the story true just someone who guessed really well.

Why didn't you ask where Sheridan got his information?
Why didn't you ask who the source was?
Why put yourself in such a frame of mind?

Dwight hasn't said ANYTHING after what happened with him and SVG. He has been silent, didn't even say he was rooting for Orlando during the playoffs and yet we heard from teammates that he's been talking with them.

Orlando has to worry about getting a GM and a coach before deciding what to do with Dwight, so I wouldn't even alarm myself UNTIL it is being reported by people from the Organization themselves that they are going to trade Dwight.

Why would it matter that the Nets get the #1 pick?
Anyone else could get the #1 pick and we can trade with them if they want to part with the #1 pick and be willing to gamble if Dwight wants to stay and if we want to trade Dwight. I'm hoping that we have no dealings with the Nets. After what they did at the beginning of the season, I want nothing to do with them.
