Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXV Off-Season Edition
This is probably a dumb question, but why would it have to be a rental for Minny ? They have a franchise PG and PF already in place. Rubio could be an All Star paired with Dwight, he could easily avg 15/12 playing with Dwight. They would just need to upgrade at the SG and SF positions. I'm sure they could attract a star wing player to come play with D12 and Rubio. Also Adelman is a very good coach, Dwight should be able to get along with him.

No, my assumptions aren't even assumptions. The Lakers have been looking to unload Pau Gasol for nearly 2 years. That is an undeniable fact. He's still on their roster. Again, another undeniable fact.
You talk out of both sides of your mouth in this post. "You've provided no example"...yet you've provided no example of any team beating down LAL's door for Pau Gasol. Houston hasn't made a move for him in like a year. The only reports that have come out about Pau Gasol since that failed Chris Paul deal are reports that the Lakers are shopping him. But I'm sure they were all just made up, and you know better.

@MaxLuckan: Even if #Nets-#Magic deal falls through, it will still be very hard for #Lakers to trade Andrew Bynum if he doesn’t commit.
@LaRobMurphy: @MaxLuckan After Devos family meeting tomorrow, he will sign extension.

As long as he stays healthy, the contract can be moved. He is a seven footer with a nice offensive game. Very hard to find.
No, it wouldn't be an albatross. But what exactly do you expect us to get back for a vastly overpaid Brook Lopez? Joe Johnson's contract proved to be movable, but all they got was a lottery protected pick and a bunch of scrubs. And that guy's an All-Star.
Overpaid is overpaid. Max money should go to the Dwights, LeBrons, Kobes... not Brook Lopez. Mark Cuban said it not too long ago, "it's better to miss out on the right player than sign a wrong player."
He is not worth $14.5 mill per. He isn't! But does that mean teams will not pay him that???? Of course teams will shell out 14.5 million for Lopez, you don't pay attention if you think they wont. If he stays healthy....IF.....then that contract is very movable. Portland would give him $14.5, Bobcats would give him $14.5, Houston would give him $14.5.....I mean the list goes on. This is the NBA we are talking about, the same NBA where we watch DeAndre Jordan get stupid money, Roy Hibbert get stupid money. 7 footers get big contracts, and a 7 footer who can put up 18 ppg will definitely get $14.5. Look at Chris Kamen.
Now would I pay Lopez $14.5 million???? F*** NO!!!!!!! But a lot of other teams would
Kwame Brown
Jerome James
Eddy Curry
......I mean the list goes on
Desagna Diop
Brendan Haywood
................
Yes - and all of those teams won sooo many championship because of those ridiculous signings.
Stop defending a ridiculous point.

Enter the bobcats.
And we think the Bobcats are going to part with a high draft pick to get them some Kris Humphries and Marshon Brooks? Yeah, I don't see that happening.

I still maintain that this was all NJ giving it their last big push to set this all up and Orlando was not involved at all in the process.

I love twitter. Check this gem out.
Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
RT @LaRobMurphy: Bynum was at LAX, Kellerman stating it was flight to Orlando... --- Hearing he had a planned vacation not to ORL.
At least Bynum isn't crazy enough to plan a vacation to Orlando at this point in time.

GET ON THIS HOUSTON OR LA!
This has been known all along. Everyone keeps acting like the fact that Humphries wants a multi-year deal, but third and fourth teams will only take him for one year...like it's no big deal. I knew this would be a major hold up in a possible deal, if were stupid enough to even consider it.
The truth is though, I don't think Orlando is seriously considering this deal. It could all come together, and Orlando would still back out.
+1
Woj is the new Bucher. Shams is the new Woj. Espn is the new TMZ. The NBA is the new WWE.
Boo.

The way that rumor leaked so smoothly to the media was a little weird.

All this info has been pumped out by Fegan anyway. I'm sure his boys in the media will have a good time bashing Orlando, but as long as his keeps the GM's on side it won't matter. Not to mention the sympathy vote we'll get for a superstar forcing his way out.

Absolutely.
There is zero chance Houston is offering that much without a guaranteed extension from Dwight.

Skilled 7 footer who can actually rebound, and is better in every phase of the game vs Lopez. Lakers can't find a taker.
Yeah, no one is taking Lopez from us. He's not an asset on a max deal.
The only thing Lopez will ever be top 5 in is...
Top 5 worst contracts in the NBA if given the max deal.

I will point out that guy saying Bynum in Orlando has no cred probably, few followers, but he's really working the Bynum to Orlando visit hard right now. Reaching out to all media outlets

Stephen A is going to be very, very disappointed in Humphries.
