He was still making the right play though. We didn't even test the paint under 4 minutes.

Courtney Lee would be a great fit next to Elf. Send Hezonja to NY for Lee.

Bring Evan off the bench.

Mario was part of the reason Utah went on 12-0 run to start the 2nd quarter.

When Anthony Johnson would randomly have a good game, Stan would ride his ass till the bitter end. And we would lose, every time. We saw it with Ben Gordon and Willie Green. Why can't coaches have the IQ to recognize when it's time to cash in on a player like that? Look, he gave us some good stuff, so let's quit while we're ahead with him. Is that so hard? Do the percentages really say that he's going to make 3 or 4 more shots over the final couple minutes of the game? No, they don't.

"But doesn't that same argument apply to anybody, especially Payton?"

Yes it does, but Payton's effectiveness tonight went beyond his scoring. He was getting deep into the defense and creating a lot of problems for them. And the shot may still have wound up going to Meeks, but it might have been a much better shot that he would have had a higher percentage chance of making.

Its a double edge sword. Play a hot bench player and you lose, fans hate you.

Let the hot bench player sit for your starter who has more experience in these situations and you lose, fans hate you still.

If you win, you're a genius!

I know it's tough, because if there's a hot hand, you should ride it, right?

Yes, but you have to be smart about it. Did any of us really believe that Jodie was going to run around those screens and throw in two or three additional shots? The Jazz were very aware of him and were chasing him hard. He wasn't getting a lot of daylight. Technically, he doesn't NEED a lot of daylight, but when he's already rifled in a few of those shots, do we believe that he's going to rifle in some more? I mean, he's hot, so it's a good bet, right? Well, I don't know. He wasn't HOT hot. He had made a few, scattered throughout the game. That's not red hot in my opinion. Certainly we need to be looking for him if he's open, since it's always a good idea to find an open Jodie Meeks. But any shots should have been coming as a result of letting EP continue to break down their defense. Betting the game on Jodie Meeks rifling in at least two more 3s off of screens just seems really bad to me.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

This a loss that you can take positives out of, Elf was beastly and AG put up big numbers again. Those big games from those 2 are becoming more frequent. Still lacking overall talent and not close to being a playoff team. Hope we can somehow add a big time talent this summer.

The whole concept of this team, as echoed time after time by Vogel, was scoring by committee. No go-to guy. If someone was hot one night, you go to them. This never happens. Also, I was told we would be having fun.

My analysis for the 4th was that the Jazz ran Meeks off the 3pt line so good in the end after his first few that everything was as off balance as Steph Curry 3's. Vuc also was so-so on attacking the switches as he got a hook and some random junk like falling out of bounds and testing Gobert. Just gotta do better when teams miss that many opportunities today as Utah did.

Sad reality is we wouldn't have a bench problem if we kept harris and therefore didn't sign green.

Utah turned up their defense in the 4th. I didn't know they were the best def team right now but it showed. U.S. Fouling them twice from the 3pt line was dumb but these players sell it. I hate flopping but it seems that the best teams somehow are also the best floppers. Elf gets hacked and nothing. Pisses me off. Our young guys need to be better actors. DJ and Meeks sell. It well. If that's the only way to get a whistle from these refs then so be it. Let the acting school commence.

Also Vogel is way too reactionary of a subber for my tastes. You watched the bench get slaughtered last time, and his only real adjustment was Meeks instead of Hezonja and it didn't matter. EP comes back in the earliest, which I doubt he would've if he was playing simply average, but still they already had Hood and Favors in against our bench feasting for more than a few minutes before any changes.

AG comes in when Hayward comes back super early. Again, if Hayward doesn't come in I don't think AG comes back either. Just, ugh. So many preventable losses. Or at least less predictable runs.

When Fournier returns I hope Vogel has the balls to turn him into catch and shoot fournier.

Vogel putting Fournier in the right role in the starting lineup is the correct response. Benching him is not, nor is having him run the offense. The problem is coaching. He's added on a second to each touch and each possession over his career average this season under Vogel.

Vogel is so slow... said in the post game that maybe he needs to stagger some starters in with the bench lineup.... really vogel? We're 42 games in and you still have no clue what you're doing with subs?

I just don't get it... I thought we were done with frustrating coaches when we hired vogel. Did he make the pacers or did the pacers make him?

Every coach will be fustrating until we get the right combo of players and start winning more. Vogel has no star to work with and basically has to figure out how to fit together players that don't really mesh.
