If we rush our picks for these positions you can certainly begin writing your goodbye letters to Dwight.

1+......Everyone wants the best gm and coach EVER and they want them right now. People think this like applying at Walmart? Also it has nothing to do with the devos family some of you act like they're incompetent. We have a classy organization and an owner who will drop money to go after good players. Count yourselves lucky and stop pretending to know what it takes to run a pro basketball team.

i'm kinda excited about this draft....there are some gems there that could be had....imo i would love to try to move up and get Austin Rivers.....hometown kid(kinda)....plus maybe.....just maybe he can lure his Father down here to coach lol.....but at 19 i would love for us to pick up Quincy Miller....i look at him and see Kevin Durant's skillset without the crazy hops though.....Jeff Taylor wouldn't be bad too....As for Point Guards i'm not really in love with any of them....Even Marshall who some of you treat like a god around here....

makes you think that we're most likely going with a candidate that is still in the playoffs right now, which is why its "taking so long". The main issue here is dwight, not the draft.

I like millers game but he seems like the type to kinda coast through on his physical talents alone, imo there's A difference between cocky and confident and to me he's a little to cocky. Isn't his slogan "its easy" or something like that. If he comes into the league with that attitude he'll have a rude awakwning. Then again the league is soft now so he may have a good transition.

I like Jeff taylors game a lot, he seems like the type that can contribute right away he plays solid defense, gets to the rim which is something we obviously lack can hit the three.

As everyone probably knows I hope they pick harkless. Good work ethic, He can get the rim plays solid defence and I think he can develop his outside shot and become a full time sf based on his mechanics. I also feel he plays with a little bit of a chip. kinda of a project with having to work on his outside game but I think hed be a solid pick.

I don't like the idea of Alex Martins being the top guy. I believe that could have deter Phil Jackson from taking this position. I hope we pick up Lindsey or Weaver but that's not looking promising right now. The report is all the way down in the article. Plus if you are interested in Kendall Marshall, good article on him. I want him with the 19th pick for the Magic, I hope he doesnt work out in the draft combine, which could lower his draft selection ala Kawhi Leonard (top10 projected) last year, but dropped to 15th due to him not working out in the draft combine.

Don’t get too excited when you hear a team linked to Suns’ free agent Steve Nash. Whether it’s the Knicks, the Bulls, the HEAT, the Magic, the Lakers, the Raptors, the Nets or the Blazers… Nash will have his pick of situations in July and he has not even started thinking about that process.

Nash, who will turn 39 next February, is seeking a three-year deal this summer and word is more than half the league is willing to offer him something like that.

There will be no shortage of situations for Nash.

Word has is Nash and the Suns have agreed that if Nash is leaving Phoenix that the franchise would help facilitate a sign and trade deal to insure Steve gets the maximum dollars for his services and the Suns get something in return for him. Meaning all bets are off on where Nash lands, as cap space and exception money won’t be a huge factor.

The Suns have made it clear they would do a multi-year deal for Nash in the $10 million per year range to insure Nash stays in Phoenix.

There is still a very real shot that Nash, who has thrived in Phoenix’s environment, chooses to stay; however the Suns will have to make some serious roster improvements to be the front runner.

Nash’s connection with the support and medical staff in Phoenix is a real trump card, as Nash does have spondylolisthesis in his back, and that will factor into his decision. Nash has remained fairly healthy in Phoenix and has played far longer than most thought he would as a result. Nash routinely credits the Phoenix training staff as a key reason why.

Of the marquee would-be free agents, Nash is considered the more obtainable player, however before you get too excited, keep in mind almost everyone in the league is going to make a pass at Nash, and he’ll have an army of options in July.

That heightens the competition for Nash. It could put the Heat in play if they can offer Nash a deal on par with other teams.

The Orlando Update: Magic fans continue to wait for something to happen on the Magic front and unfortunately it seems like the process of finding a new General Manager and a new head coach will flow into next week and beyond.

But here is what we know at this point.

The Magic have interviewed former Hornets’ GM Jeff Bower, and while several other candidates have been contacted about the job, Bower remains the top name likely to take the job.

Spurs’ assistant GM Dennis Lindsey is said to be on the Magic’s wish list, and while sources close to the process believe he is more than ready to leave the San Antonio Spurs for his own team, those same sources are not sold Lindsey will take the job in Orlando.

The problem for Orlando is that they really are not looking for a singular dominating personality to take over the team, they are looking for someone to come in and fit neatly into the collective that’s already in place of Alex Martins and Adonal Foyle. They want a personality that’s experienced and has a proven track record of playing well with others, and playing the company line and that’s where the Magic job starts to become a little cloudy.

Jeff Bower has a history with Alex Martins and he is not a dominating personality. He can easily fill the void the Magic are trying to fill – add an experienced basketball person who can help Martins steer the Magic. That’s an important part of this dynamic – Alex Martins will be running the Magic and the GM hire will report to him.

Bower and Lindsey remain the most likely candidates to take the job, however a firm decision is not likely going to take place until after this week’s NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.

The Magic will also start looking at replacement coaches; however sources say hiring a coach is not going to happen until a GM is in place, which may not happen until next week.

Things in Orlando have not stopped working. The Magic did hold their first NBA Draft workout last week, which was ran by Magic director of player development Adonal Foyle and some of the support staff.

The Magic got a look at Moe Harkless, William Buford, Cameron Moore, Andrew Nicholson, Darrion Pellum and Jeff Taylor. Terrence Ross was scheduled to participate but opted to decline the invite at the last minute.

The Magic are expected to continue meeting with would-be candidates over the next week, including meetings in Chicago during the Draft Combine.

Give me a break. Alex Martins would be no deterrent from anyone taking a job with the Magic. A real good GM would be able to make just about any basketball related decisions without having to consult Martins. Especially, the way Otis has been able to that past up until 2012. And, Devos is one of the biggest spenders on the market. I just don't think Phil was truly interested in being the GM of Orlando.

I also agree that Phil didn't want to come here but by the words in the article, it makes it seem like Alex is looking for someone to be a "yes" man within the company and train-up Foyle. I'm sick of sticking with guys just because they're part of the "circle of trust". Grow some balls and take a chance. Bower could very well be a good GM, but the fact that he's the favorite just because of his ties with Martins, rubs me the wrong way.

The Nash SnT bit changes things. Now I'd look to focus exclusively on using the MLE on Fran or not at all.

and playing the company line

That is taken from the story that VGOSWAMI quoted. This sounds like we are looking to throw out the bath water without throwing out the baby too.

The Magic will also start looking at replacement coaches; however sources say hiring a coach is not going to happen until a GM is in place

And yet we know the GM won't be a figure head at least.

I still say Give me a Break. I don't believe for one minute an article without any actual sources. This is all heresay.

So it seems Bower might be the only one who is willing to "share" his position. I don't know what to think anymore.

I know. Getting lucky to draft a superstar should not be a pre-requisite for being a great GM.

Maybe, I am wrong, perhaps it was Demps that did these below, but I don't care. Hornets have never done anything right.

Dude traded Chandler for Okafor!!!!!!!!

Oh yeh, traded Collison for Ariza!!!!

Dude would be a horrible choice.

I have a bad feeling about all of this. We can do so much better than Jeff Bower and furthermore I don't want us to hire a GM that is just going to be a pawn in the organization while Martins and Foyle does everything else.

Return to Orlando Magic
