Mario, AG, Dipo, and Elf are going nowhere. Vogel is excited to work with the guys and they built a lot of chemistry last year. You can tell they are playing more comfortably with each other. With Vogel? It's going to be even better.

Buckel up and hold on to those seat belts!

Agreed, it is going to be interesting to watch what Vogel does with our young players. He certainly seems to be the type of coach that is able to develop the young talent and help get them to that next level. I think that Payton, Oladipo, Mario, and Gordon are going to be big factors next season. We may see them all in the starting line up if we don't make any significant additions in free agency, or be significant factors off the bench. But of that quartet I think the most likely one to not start could be Payton because he's not a good shooter and his ball distribution isn't top tier. So it wouldn't surprise me to see our front office go after Mike Conely, or try to make a trade for an upgrade at the point guard position, because if we can get more consistent shooting from our point guard, combine that with Mario or Fournier at SF, then that shooting and spacing would allow us to keep Oladipo and Gordon in the starting line up at SG and PF and would help provide them with more space to attack the rim.

That said, it will be exciting to see Vogel get to work with our young talent.

Mario obviously didn't have a great rookie season but I would still take him over the other wings that were available in last year's draft. They didn't play all that well either.

I would tend to agree with taking Mario over the other wings because he showed enough flashes last season to be optimistic about his future with us. With the right coaching and development he could be an important player for us. However, the one wing I would take over Mario, admittedly with the benefit of hindsight, is Devin Booker. He had a very good rookie season and has all star potential down the line as long as the Suns don't hinder his development.

Most rookie seasons don't enamor me. A lot of it is predicated on who has more opportunity to do things. You do have the rare Towns impactful rookie that looks good in every facet, but it'll take a good few years before I'd want anybody else. Booker slowed down considerably after a sizzling period.

Booker is obviously the better player right now but I would still take Mario ten times out of ten in a redraft.

Mario has such a much higher ceiling because of his size and physical stature. Booker may be relegated to playing the 1 or 2 capably over the course of his career whereas Mario can already play 3 positions and if he Bulks up, possibly even some 4. Mario's jump shot is not only accurate but it's a really high and quick release and coupled with his height he is the ideal compliment to Payton and Oladipo and Gordon who all not great shooters.

Johnson and Winslow are both awful shooters. Johnson has a low release and starts it from his waist so it's easy to block. Winslow is not only really undersized for a 3 but his shot is broken imo. Both these guys survived with their defense their rookie years and desperately need to learn how to shoot.

Booker is not as big athletic or as strong as any of these guys and that's why he has a lower ceiling imo.

Towns had a great rookie season and is a really complete all around player but I think he will be injury prone over the course of his career. He has some of the skinniest legs I have ever seen for a 7 foot 250 pounder.

He could/should be one of the leaders of Croatian national team for many years to come.
I'm interseted what's happening with Bender and national team.

I mean he's a rookie guard coming from Europe who shot 43% from the field, 35% from deep, and 90% from the line. All those percentages were better than Booker's too. Should we really be all that disappointed? He was pretty bad defensively in the beginning of the year but picked it up, especially his man defense.

Only stat I'm slightly disappointed in is turnovers, but he tries to make plays for his teammates even when they're not there so it's tough to be too mad about. Oh and minutes of course is a stat I'm mad about.

Mario is our guy now and I like him over the other wings too... including Booker...

But I'm still not sure we did the right thing by passing on WCS, Turner or not trading up for KP.

But as a rookie turnovers are the one thing you can live with. That's expected as he gets adjusted to the pace of the game. All of those stats listed should continue to improve.
