Cole seems like Lou Gehrig compared to the rest of the players, and he's only averaged 57 games played per year. We spent the first 25 games last season without a guard. I believe Harris, Suggs, Cole, and Fultz were all injured.

Black's first summer league interview was all about "winning". All he talks about it: winning every game. That these games are not about winning per se, it is fun to hear his competitive level. Just win.

He clearly equates "fun" with "winning".

It's silly narrative to proclaim anybody as winner or loser of a draft several days after draft.

You can look back at 2017 draft and Utah Jazz/ Nuggets trade and proclaim Nuggets worst draft decision in past 10 yeras. They gave up 13# pick to Trey Lyles and 24th pick.
Utah drafted Donovan Mitchell 13#. Nuggets got role player and some bum.

Fast forward 2023, Utah is rebuilding, Nuggets won championship despite fact it was apsolute and utter L on draft night.

Vaccum of those moves sometimes misses bigger picture and it depends where teams are at.

Stock piling players with similar skillsets who can't play together always sounds like dumb idea, mostly because it is dumb idea. You can always go back 76ers draft picks: 2013- Noel (C), 2014 Embiid ( C) , 2015 Okafor (C). Most of us knew it's dumb from start.

Probably not great, but even the worst spacing NBA team is better than a bad spacing college team. Better shooters, longer three-point line, defensive three seconds, etc. Skilled drivers like Paolo and Franz get held back a bit in college and look better in the NBA, and I expect that to also be the case with Black.

You also have to wonder how many potential assists Black lost to bad shooting? You never see great passes in highlights that aren't converted.

I think Black would have had actually had a reasonable chance to win ROY if Fultz wasn’t here and he was set to play big minutes.

But as the roster is presently constructed, I'd put his odds are close to 0%.

Yeah his odds probably would be higher if he wasn’t buried deep into the third unit.

Please provide a trigger warning before mentioning Black and third unit

When Black starts and puts up Fultz numbers and the team wins more, he'll be in the conversation. Where do I bet?

My guess, the same place you make a bet on how many games you expect Fultz to play this season.

I can't see Ausur, Whitmore, and Jarace Walker, IMO, aren't ahead due to roadblocks on their respective teams...Obviously, Black is facing the same thing in ORL. IF Fultz and/or Cole were traded (or injured) tomorrow...I wonder where he'd rank

Not a betting man, but Holmgren would be a value bet for roty. He has a chance to outplay Victor, albeit small. He's the only guy who has a chance to challenge the Wembanyama media hype train, he'll be a starter on an offensive juggernaut young team and, if Victor gets injured, he's likely next man up.
