I assume there’s some tension there. I suspect that Weltman has been talking to Paolo and Franz, maybe Bane, seeing how they're feeling.
Is he at the point of reaching out to other coach agents? I doubt it. The front office is usually slow as molasses.
I would certainly be inquiring with a few agents about availability. I’d want to see some cohesive play on both ends by the time we get back to Orlando. If we lose that first home game I feel like I’d let him go if I was Weltman. Don’t want to waste a potentially weak eastern conference.
The team started losing its defensive identity last season, and we chalked it up to injury disruption. Even then we had Mike Miller and Paolo’s mum having words with Weltman on the sidelines complaining about the complete lack of offense.
Weltman added shooting and playmaking this summer, but Mosley doesn’t look like he knows how to make the pieces fit and gel or stay focused on both ends. It just seems like no matter who Mosley has, he doesn’t know how to get them to operate with intention on offense at a consistent enough level for a team that wants to contend.
