Well the MAgic fan in me probably thinks that these team thought they don't even need their stars to beat us. OR they wanna see a comedy show wherein we try to tank ourselves in the game

What execlly "young guys" Magic are playing or developing nowdays , since there is so much celebration going after trades?

Okeke and Bamba are basically 23 years old. Not old, but closer to their prime than their teens.

Others:

PG- 29 years old
SG: after he returns, 26 years old Harris, for time being 26 years old Bacon
SF- 31 years old Ennis
Pf: OKeke
C: 28 years old Birch

bench players: Ross (30) and Otto Porter jr ( 27).

So whole " youth" movment is basically sporadic minutes of RJ Hampton, who nobody views as anything and Wendell Carter, who so far plays like 18 min a game.

Main reason why they will probably win enough games to fall to 5th or 6th spot is fact that they have too many fine veterans who have motivation to play well - for their contracts.

Chuma/Bamba are both only 22 && have missed significant time due to injury, but even 23 is considered young in the NBA. The average age of an NBA player is around 26. WCJ is only 21. Cole Anthony comes back in a week and is 20. So that's two names you left out. RJ Hampton is 20. Fultz will be 23 at the start of next season. Isaac will be the oldest out of all the "young guys" at 24.

I'm not even necessarily saying that those players are all core pieces, but they are definitely young by NBA standards and we are attempting to prioritize their development with the moves we made.

You've made the argument in the past with Gordon that young doesn't always just speak to a player's age either. The players I've mentioned whether due to injury, or time spent in the league, haven't gained significant experience on an NBA court. Saying a player like AG is young when he has spent over 7 seasons the league doesn't always mean much but in the case of many of our young players I think it does.

These are the only players on the Magic that matter:

Markelle Fultz, 22
Chuma Okeke, 22
Jonathan Isaac, 23
Wendell Carter, 21

Cole Anthony, 20
Karim Mane, 20
RJ Hampton, 20
Mo Bamba, 22

Plus 2 1st rounders. If they wanna keep Gary Harris around...he's a whopping 25 years old.

Otto Porter - expiring
James Ennis - expiring
Khem Birch - expiring
Chasson Randle - expiring
Dwayne Bacon - unguaranteed

Michael Williams Carter - who cares?
Terrence Ross - The Godfather

Bamba/WCJ (22/21)
Okeke (22)
Isaac (24)
Harris/RJ (25/20)
Fultz/Cole (23/20)

We’re two players short of a potential lineup of all ‘youth’ next season. Most of them are probably 5-8 years away from being in their ‘prime’ physically and experientially. I’d say most need 2-3 seasons with heavy roles and minutes to show what they’ll really be capable of.

Getting some to peak early whilst adding 1-2 early rising stars (guys who can win young like Embiid/Simmons, Tatum/Brown, Luka, Trae, Ja) to that squad will be key to a faster rebuild.

Definitely want good mentors with that bunch. I love me some MCW, and if Harris is like that but off the court then he sounds great too. Okeke and Isaac seem like they know how to work and be pros already. Cole is a young pro.

I’m really excited by this squad.

I askeed who execlly Magic are DEVELOPING RIGHT now. So i will go through your post ( red ink) to point out how stupid things are.

Magic beat Pelicans on 38 min of Ennis, 33 min of Bacon and 21 shots of Ross.

We are ONE WIN AWAY FROM 6TH WORST RECORD. We are doing it again,we again, pretend that we are "teaching culture" by destroying our lottery odds, when we in reality just allow too many vets that use as polygon for better contracts.

Won two games in a row, not because we are good ,but because teams sit out best players against us. Instad of pretty much making up injuries of key players and holding them back ( Ross, Bacon = 34 shots taken out ) we just YOLO it.

How dumb things are is best viewed through fact that we rather play mid season signed PG Randle, who is 27 years old bum, over 19 years old Hampton who allegedly this front office "liked before draft". So, in a game their min distribution was: 35 min and 16 shots to Randle, 18 min and 6 shots to Hampton

For what it’s worth Harris is 26 and will be 27 before next season starts.

The problem is Coach Clifford, he's too good of a coach and never going to focus on out and out development over wins.

We could easily sit Ross, and waive Birch and MCW. Then sign a few G League players who have potential and just play and rotate and young team the last 22 games. We need a coach who will do that Brett Brown used too. Even Corbin or an assistant for a few months. I like clifford, he doesn't make sense with this roster though

Hoopslife wrote:At this point Okeke should be penciled in as the starter at SF next to Isaac next year. Outside of Kuminga all of the players in the Top 5 of the draft are PG/SG or Mobley who is a PF/C... And no one outside of the Top 5 will be a starter to begin the season.

Coach has always stated that Okeke is a 4, and Isaac has played at the 3. But it is a bit moot given how interchangable the forward play would be.

When Fults is healthy, I see this roster next year:

Fultz/Anthony/Carter-Williams
Harris/Magic-FRP/Hampton
Isaac/Ross/Bacon
Okeke/Bulls-FRP/vet-FA
Carter/Bamba/high-SRP

If healthy, that team might compete for a play-\0in slot (if there is that next year).

Ross would not be bought out, as he is not expiring. But in your plan, Birch, Porter, and Ennis could be bought out now. All three would probably catch on to a contending team, so this would not be unfair.

And boy would the Magic suck even more.

The Jazz will be on the second night of a b2b, and will probably rest half the team.
