The guy on the Locked on Magic podcast said, he didn't realize how fast Franz was until he saw him in person.

Gordon only played more than 20 minutes 3 times and less than 10 minutes 18 (!!) times until game 26 (counting in DNPs)

I like Franz though, intriguing player.

Franz is also 4 pts higher than Hayward was per 36 mpg, so far.

Maybe Tatum would be a better comparison?

That's true. I think Wagner could be better.

i cant say whether he will or wont. trying to extrapolate from 2 professional games is very hard. Would love for it to happen, but I dont expect it. He should better better defensively than Hayward, remains to be seen if his offense could approach Haywards.

Hopefully he turns out to be like Tatum.

the thing is, you keep comparing him to players that are much more advanced scorers than Wagner. It would be like comparing Gobert to Vuc/Ayton. they impact games in very different ways.

Right...why is nailing down a comp even meaningful? Although, he does move well without the ball, so...Reggie Miller :banghead:

All kidding aside, 2 games in, I love what I'm seeing...the intelligent, make the right play, long and agile defensive player who was drafted to be "solid" right out of the gate. So far, so good...if his shooting develops further, could be more than a support piece for our new "star" Suggs.

I was thinking Larry Bird is the closest comp, but with more athleticism

Or a whiter, taller Michael Jordan, with a completely different skillset

Tatum is a way better scorer now, but he averaged 13.7 ppg his rookie season.

Also, unlike Michael, Franz can probably hit a slider.

OMG, Franz was the real steal! Nobody saw that coming.
IQ just can't be learned. You born with it or you don't. Plain and simple. His instinct is amazing, he must be the most intelligent player on the team.
Don't remember the last time I saw a player who didn't even have that transition stage to the NBA. The guy started to produce since second one.
Kudos to Weham! This one belongs entirely to them

I know there are injuries... but... 39 minutes. Might not be the flashy player but the guy has his head on right at such a young age. Once he gets comfortable and that shot starts falling... he will totally be proving his worth... and more! Watching him stonewall offensive players and forcing to pass out ... is a joy. can't wait to see how much more he develops as his body continues to mature and his confidence continues to grow!

Franz is making JI expendable. He has a higher iq, younger, more athletic, less injury prone, and a better shooter. Unless JI plays 4/5 he is going to be demoted to the bench for Franz starting next season.

Franz is such a solid player on both ends, it's hard to take him out of the game. I'm looking forward to the Chuma and Franz tandem.

Can't wait to have a 3-man forward rotation of Isaac, Franz, and Okeke. The combination of offense and defense will provide tons of stability at those positions.

won't go that far yet. We've got them in great contracts for the next 3-4 years... let time determine this one.

Got tons of hope and confidence in suggs figuring this out... but i'm happy that franz is making such an impact now and people are seeing what WeHam were excited about.
