The problem is that it probably would require dumping another big. With the injury I just don't see it.

So the rumor was that the Magic offered

Cole Anthony
Isaac
2 first round picks and a pick swap

For Coby White prior to the Bane deal… discuss

I gotta say that’s an overpay… I’m shocked the Bulls didn’t take that and run.

Locked on Bulls leaked the rumor after getting it cleared by people up top. They sounded pretty disappointed.

Getting Kennard for our bench would be tremendous.
He got renounced the same day that Bane got traded.

Can we even afford him?

I don’t believe them, because I truly don’t think Chicago as an organization can be that incompetent.

I also don’t see the incentive in leaking this other than making themselves look like complete fools and using the Bane deal to try to inflate Coby’s value.

However, for conversation sake it’s absolutely an overpay and would leave us with even more questions than we do now after the Bane deal. I personally wouldn’t have come around on a trade like that as I did with the Bane trade. Coby is an expiring looking for 40AAV and we would have been forced to overpay to ensure he was retained.

I agree with this. What people seemed to forget, we didnt get Bane just because we really needed his 3pt ability... we got him at his prime years AND more importantly, the security of knowing he is locked for the next 4 years.

The picks being offered to Chicago for White were not unprotected as I understand it.

Nor was the 2026 pick and the right to swap with Phoenix part of the package either.

It's kind of hard to believe that 1. The Bulls would turn that down, and 2. that Bane wasn't the preferred option. Maybe the Magic were using White as leverage or he was second option. Bane just seems like such a better fit on both ends...even with that stiff price.

I hate the idea of trading for guys eligible for an extension. If they suck then you don't want to pay them, and if they hit they want the world. White would only be eligible for 140% extension before the season or $17M

I don’t know how leaking that info helps them. I would get it if Orlando did, but Chicago?

I also don’t know the extent of the details on the picks as Knightro stated. I’m just repeating what the Bulls guys said. I have no reason to not believe them because if anything it makes their FO look bad.

I can actually buy Orlando targeting Coby White given his age and skillset. Yeah, the contract timing isn’t ideal at all and Bane is the better player by far. Orlando would have overpaid imo. I can absolutely see White getting overpaid to an extreme degree also.

Dang...

For me.. that deal is like 60-70% of the Bane deal but comparing White and Bane is almost 90% difference.

What’s the consensus on moving WCJ? Are we fully comfortable with Goga starting longterm or is the thought to trade Carter for an upgrade at center?

Despite what a lot people think here, I def. think he has a strong market if he were made available (I’m still not convinced though he’s as available as people make him out to be).

Would you rather:

A) Move WCJ for an upgrade at center?
B) Move WCJ for several depth pieces (promoting Goga)?
C) Completely reconfigure our center rotation to fit this new iteration of the Magic?

I am not sure if Chicago outright declined or if they dragged their feet and the Bane situation came up unexpectedly and Orlando pivoted.

Either way, it sounds like they had been negotiating it a while.
