Again, I think it has to do with what played out today. He was called out as a liar, deserving so, and I think that affected him. I think it was more mental then anything. Maybe mental means quitting in this situation, but this is all mental now.

causes hes mentally weak, his attitude and effort hurt the team, he could of played hard, nothing wrong with playing bad if you give the effort

DOUBLE STANDARD
Chris Duhon gives effort and yet he's still bad.

I never said that Dwight was mentally strong but I do believe that he's not a quitter. He doesn't play well against Chandler anyway, but I think him being called out today really messed with him.

how is that a double standard?

a player playing hard but sucks vs a player not playing hard and sucks?

Dwight has been horrible against Chandler this year... averaging something like 10 pts 8 rebs 5 turnovers in 3 games. That's crazy because last year Dwight dominated him on both sides of the court.

Oh no that's not the double standard... it's the "nothing wrong with playing bad if you give effort" is what I call double standard. Because we RIP Duhon to pieces here because he plays badly. We don't say "nothing wrong with playing bad if you give effort" when it comes to Duhon and yet we want to say that when it comes to other players, whether that player is good or bad, that's not the statement, it's the "nothing wrong" part that gets me.

Dwight had sucked against Chandler this season badly and we want to say that he quit after he again, sucked against Chandler and on top of that, he is going through all of the media backlash tonight. No, he didn't quit, he's going through a mental thing in this game.

Dwight played hard on defense today, so how did he quit? I don't care what y'all say. I watched him challenge basically every shot. He usually doesn't do that. So how did he quit?

ok got that mixed up, "nothing wrong" might not of been the correct phrase to make my point...

jj has been playing like crap for the last couple of weeks, but hes still giving great effort, nobody is questioning his desire, what irks me is when dwight came out playing bad while giving a marginal effort

I think you're right about Howard, he is mentally weak. I don't think he knows how to play through this. But hopefully he'll learn. Hopefully he'll learn to keep his mouth shut, and respect his coach and the guys in management making decision, to realize that he's a basketball player not a GM and most importantly, I hope he learns integrity and honesty. Forget about basketball, as a person, I pray for Dwight to have the wisdom to speak when speaking is needed and be silent when nothing needs changing. And I hope this season teaches him that he must still be professional and still need to give effort no matter what happens throughout the season...

I think Dwight Howard is learning first hand that "Pride comes before the fall..."

Dwight is who he always has been. He was mic'ed up and his rallying effort before the start of the second half was (basically) "Let's try hard guys! Even if we lose, let's at least give it our best!" Can you imagine Kobe Bryant or any other 'winner' talking like that? "Even if we lose" my god...

Dwight's the best player we have ever been fortunate enough to have on this team in our franchise's history (skill, talent, production, length of time, one game win in the finals). But he is one of the most disappointing in terms of mental toughness, leadership, and authenticity.

A year and a half from now they'll be no Stan AND no Dwight.... The life of a magic fan.

And yet, all of those things can be learned.
He has the skills down, I just hope management surround Howard with the people that will nurture his mental toughness, leadership and authenticity. I think sometimes we forget that he is 26 years old. And I know a lot of people are ready to let him go to another team and let someone else deal with it, but I really hope he allowed Orlando to take on that challenge.

I remember Otis said something that probably got me thinking why Dwight is the way he is, Otis said that he got rid of people who had a stronger personality than Dwight because he wanted him to be the leader, that's why he traded Hill and Bogans. Maybe someone can find the article or video of it, but I do remember that and quit honestly, that might have been our downfall. Dwight seems like the type of person that needs to be paired up with a dominate personality, because I think he'll respond more to that.

Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

What does firing Stan solve anyways? Might as well play out the season because it's reported that Dwight wants his whole coaching staff fired too, so he's not going to be happy with Stan nor anyone else on the staff.
