I think the nets have two days to trade lopez after they sign him

can't trade him till December if they sign him.

they're done.

Well, no, I think they have 48 hours after they sign him to complete a sign and trade

yup. dwight will be long gone before december. at this point it's a bidding war between the rockets and lakers unless we work out a 3 team deal between them.

Trading Dwight Howard goes above GM Rob Hennigan's head. Final decision of this magnitude made by owner Rich DeVos and family.

There is some 48 hour clause about sign-and-trades though isn't there? What exactly is that? Oh I think it's that if you agree to sign-and-trade somebody, you have 48 hours to do so....and if you don't trade them by then, then the contract is voided....but Brook would've had to have agreed to that I guess.

I Knew there was a reason that i don't watch SC, these "NBA insiders" are freaking idiots. They backtrack so much it's ridiculous. And the way they hype up the big market teams makes it even worse.

And that is the reason I worry about him ending up with the Nets.

Nets can only do S&T if Lopez agrees to the process of the trade and to the team. If Nets negotiate contract with Lopez and sign him on their own, they can't turn around and trade him until December.

They can't sign him, then still negotiate with ORL and trade him in 48 hrs.

not worried about him to the Nets so much as them just not willing to pull the plug, and hoping that he changes his mind again and stays.

Hopefully they will put credence into the new people they hired.

Doesn't this make the Rockets much more likely?

A GM will just get the best deal he can, but if it's DeVos I don't think he would sign off on a trade to the Lakers

If anything, Devos would want Bynum out of it (stay competitive, wants a championship before he goes, Bynum's his best realistic option to bring that to him in the short-term currently).

This means we'd possibly be less well-equipped for the FA class of 2013, as the Lakers have no cap space and few assets outside of Ebanks and Bynum. Maybe Mcroberts? I think he's a scrappy PF (like we need any more) and may be an expiring. So we would only be able to get rid of Jason Richardson, which is somewhat disappointing. I'd like to shed Hedo/Duhon/Q as well (obviously Hedo is pretty unrealistic in any scenario).

I'm really hoping Devos allows a proper, full rebuild and we do the three team trade to get Kmart's expiring, some nice young prospects, and a bunch of picks. It seems more Hennigan's style and I have issue with Bynum's personality, thoughts on Orlando, and his injury history.

1. Bynum

2. Houston's picks and young players

What people don't realize is that Devos loves Dwight like a son. I can definitely see an 80 some year old man giving a young man what his heart desires. I wouldn't and neither would anyone else here on these forums but Devos might. I hope not.

If Devos get's final say, I can see it being Bynum. Rob can get a year to pair Bynum with some perimeter help and in the East, where it's the Heat and everyone else, we can come back to contending in 1-2 years.
