Seriously, anyone with sense would see that having a meeting with Dwight without a coach in a place or a plan to improve the team is a waste of time and would do no good. I'm a fan of Rob and am optimistic he'll do well here, but that was just dumb.

Honestly, why would houston do a trade if Howard continues to be adamant about not resigning with them?
Unless they take bynum in a 3 way.

There's no way he's that stupid. Unless he's under the mind that this is going to be a year long relationship and they best get off on the right foot. I hope not.

Howard and his camp is gonna try to make the Magic look bad, they want him with the nets or Lakers so they must scare off all other teams so the magic have no choice
Houston has been a pain in their side

It's like clockwork on here. We live in an instant gratification world now so everyone was expecting him to clean all of Otis's mess within a few weeks and people are getting frustrated that it hasn't happened yet.

Well, the thought is they can get Howard now, then in February, trade him to NJ or Brooklyn. We'd pass the burden to Houston.

Dwight's people are scaring off Houston (and Orlando) because they want MAX money. If he stays here, or is traded to Houston, he's forced to leave $30M on the table or let the greed rule over him and get stuck playing somewhere he doesn't want.
Send his ass to Houston and hope he never recovers correctly from his back.

that's even better. Dwight gets to go to LA, Houston gets their big man in Bynum and we get more out of Houston. DMo, Lamb, and picks then

Orlando needs to accept its lost Howard... and will rebuild with picks...
They need picks and clear cap space by taking back 1 yr contracts...
Rockets only team can do this...
However... by dragging this on Howard is only reducing value...
Howard/JR/duhon for
Martin/Morris/Douglas (maybe Lamb) + some picks... is best offer rockets will offer...

Nah, look at the tweet by Woj about wanting a Carmelo like package. And the reports from Aldridge and other respectable guys about all talks cooling off because the Magic upped their asking price to not only cap space and picks and young players, but all-star talent too.
It'd be pretty much impossible for the Houston deal to actually be crap because all their pieces are desirable. They literally just have to offer one of the rookies, a pick, and a young player and that deal isn't close to "crap". In fact it's probably the best deal we could get. As you see from other posts everyone here would be ecstatic with KMart/Lamb/Toronto Pick. It can't be much worse than that since well 1 - its only 3 pieces already and 2 - Aldridge and Houston sources have already reported they would do 1 rookie 1 other player 1 pick and 1 bad contract
The fact is the FO is just being delusional about what they can get, plain and simple. You were NEVER going to get a Carmelo/DWill deal because those guys were healthy and willing to stay. We're trading a guy that is coming off a very serious surgery, might miss part of the season, and has no intention of staying with the teams that have those potential packages. Houston is not New York or New Jersey (soon to be New York), they'd be complete fools to offer a similar package.
I thought Devos was holding up the trades, that they were just throwing out unrealistic rumors to make it look like they were trying..but truly they didn't want to trade. However, if Henny truly is in power than I can totally see something like this happening. He's young he's new - this is his first big move - he's probably romanticizing it. He wants to be a legend. He wants to make this major blockbuster and be hailed as the savior..that's what all young guys dream of.
I'm not saying by any means that's what has happened..but I can see the possibility. I mean a young 30 year old guy being stubborn (everyone has described him as patient and stubborn waiting for the right deal to show up haven't they?), pushing past all the bad signs that trades weren't going to get better - telling himself over and over that a good trade just HAS to come up eventually..

He's got a point, but publicly saying that shows how amateurish he still is. He seriously thinks he's God's gift to NBA fans. He needs to learn to calm it down.

What happened to waiting to deal with Dwight until a head coach was found?

Nelson is a face the casual fans can cheer for as this team faces an obvious reconstruction. That adds to his value, we are not players in free agency next summer. Dwight does not want to be here and never was going to recruit people to come. He and his team will kill the Houston deal value, with all the comments about running to Dallas. He has screwed the Magic out of the chance to do 1 deal that blows this entire team up.
Henny has a new team that can draft and thier skills will be tested in this mess. I am giving him at least 3 years to clear up the diaster Otis left behind.
GO MAGIC!!

I'm laughing and throwing up at the same time. Can you think about what you're typing and where you're trying to post it to before you actually hit the "Submit" button? That would be the logical thing to do.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLII Off-Season Edition
This is what you call too little too late.
And it sounds like we know the reason on a delayed deal between Houston and Orlando - Dwight is making it clear he wont re-sign there, Houston in turn lower their offer, Orlando not happy with the offer - no deal done.
It's time to cut losses, accept that the best we aren't getting good value for Dwight, and just move on.
Meanwhile, I just hope our team learns how to better handle superstars in future. It's a f---ing joke that we can't keep players happy.
