Re: 2020 Offseason: Trade Ideas / Trade Talk
Looks like the Cavs are working on trading Drummond to the Raps.
We are currently tied with them in the tankathon.
They appear to be going all in. Will we?

All in with Andre Drummond? I guess it makes sense for that team.

The Cavs are playing strictly young guys and I think they'll end up below us.MagicFan101 wrote:Looks like the Cavs are working on trading Drummond to the Raps.

Lowry for Drummond makes sense. Then Cleveland can waive Lowry and he'll probably join the Clippers with Kawhi and Ibaka.

?? I’m referring to the Cavs going all in on their tank efforts by committing to young players and trading away their vets.

yeah I totally misread that. Does Orlando really need to? We’re tanking naturallyMagicFan101 wrote:Blue_and_Whte wrote:MagicFan101 wrote:Looks like the Cavs are working on trading Drummond to the Raps.

We’re tied for the 4/5 spot in a 5 man draft class.
We clearly are trying hard to win by playing Vuc and vets as much as possible when we can. We just can’t due to injuries.
What happens once Evan, AG, Ennis, Aminu and Cole return?
Meanwhile, teams around us see the light and tank hard ...

Jarrett Allen is better than Drummond right now. Drummond racks up crazy rebound numbers but half are taken away from teammates. Those gaudy numbers of rebounds are no longer a badge of success as guards and wings routinely rip and run these days. Drummond doesn't suck, I'm just saying it doesn't signify a tank to go with their long term guy.

Will it make them better this year? It's not really how much better Drummond is or isn't than Jarret Allen, it's how much better he is than Javal Mcgee, because that's who will be replacing his minutes.
It's the same if we trade AG or Fournier. It'd doesn't ruin us, but if we trade them picks or prospects it decreases our win count this year. Neither are great, like Drummond, but they are decent rotation players.
There will be more teams tanking and it will become a more competitive race to the bottom. We are not currently tanking just bad due to injury and personnel.
These are the moves other teams will make. Will the Magic?

You're overthinking this one (CLE). They traded for Drummond's replacement. Nobody's keeping Drummond around for backup minutes...McGee is fine for 12 min/game (just like how he backed up Drummond all season). Could actually be an anti-tank depending on what they get back. TOR needs to come up with a lot of salary to match Drummond.

Detroit isn't playing Griffin now either. Teams see talent at the top of the draft and are making moves.jonbob17 wrote:Skybox wrote:MagicFan101 wrote:

I kind of like it
Vucevic and backup big man Khem Birch to the Bulls in exchange for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr., a 2021 first-round pick, and a 2023 first-rounder
Only need to trade AG Ross and Evan for assets
2021 2022 lineup
Fultz, Cole mcw
??, bacon
Otto porter (resigned on the cheap), chuma
Ji, wcjr, chuma
Mo, Ji
2 lottery 1st
Assets received from the Evan +AG, Ross
I saw that and thought of you and your Otto fetishDoes he even play? Why would he sign with ORL "on the cheap", for that, he could jump to a contender.
If Vuc goes to CHI (in this EAST), that is not a lottery pick anymore. WCJ is a burden, not a gift...I guess some here would like it as it would ensure that we are the WORST roster in the league for the next few years while we draft more Bamba's.
to be more positive, I DO like it for CHI...I'm not a fan of Lavine. I do think Markannen can have a solid career with the right fit around him. I think this doesn't take CHI much beyond ORL's present roster-if healthy...maybe to 4th seed in a year if all goes well.
Otto + 2 1st +%wcj
How can i not like it
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett
Franz, TDS, Panda

I’d rip their arm off accepting that deal. Those picks would be gold. Chicago has to among the worst defensive teams in the league with Vuc and LaVine as 2/5ths of their starting lineup. WCJ has had a rough season so far, but I’d be content watching him develop.
"Xatticus has always been, in my humble opinion best poster here. Should write articles or something."

Right now the center minutes go to Drummond and Allen. You move Drummond the minutes go to Allen and Mcgee. Allen isn't playing 36 minutes a game. He probably won't get 30. Anyways this a dumb argument.
Toronto can't come up with the salary. I am not sure any team could or would want to. Drummond is too big for the Celtics TPE. Chances are Drummond and Cleveland work out a buy out. Toronto, Boston, and Nets are the obvious choices, maybe someone else gets involved. Drummond gets to rehab his value on a championship run and showing he can be a team player.
Drummond is a good example of the value of a high usage center on a bad team with a big $ contract, and is not a good defender. Cleveland won't get anything of value back, will just be looking to save as much $ as they can. Vuc is better than Drummond, but for what contenders are looking for from for a center he' might not be as far off. Vuc's 3 point shooting is a huge skill for him
Point is Drummond's usage will crater after he is moved. He is one of only 3 centers with a usage higher than Vuc (Jokic/Embiid all timers). Moving Vuc to a contender would crater Vuc's usage/scoring as well. This should be a wakeup call for all of us who think Vucevic is a number one option, and give us an idea of what Vuc's value on the open market is.

If management is smart they pretty much have the entire team available. If you believe that Isaac (staying healthy god willing) can be the defensive centerpiece of a winning team, then we should be after as much offensive talent/potential that we can find.

Will you do this trade:
Orlando: Bamba, AG, 2022 FRP
Wizard: Bradley Beal
We still have our this year's FRP and Beal has 3 years left on his contract. That gives us a Super star with Vuc and hopefully make the playoff and go deep into the playoff

Not sure that is enough. He should get at least what Harden got. Multiple 1sts.

It depends. If WAS think we are gonna suck or retool aka tank then that 2022 FRP is gonna be valuable.
