D-League affiliate? No Idea what everybody has against the Warriors. I'd love Monta Ellis, Anthony Randolph & Anthony Morrow on our team

In that scenario we don't trade peaches according to the deal, but a good deal nonetheless, it actually keeps them competitive for the playoffs out west

Any chance Orlando can pry away Chris Paul from New Orleans Hornets??
Chris Perkins:
Joe,
Wow...well, let's think...Dwight Howard definitely stays...so now you're down to a package that includes Jameer Nelson (he'd have to go in return for Chris Paul) and maybe Pietrus to get a quality perimetere defender. And maybe you try to get Gortat, too. Yeah, I'd say the Magic could put something together. But again, I don't see the Hornets trading CP3. I just don't see it. Not now, anyway. Maybe at the All-Star break. Maybe.

That's the key point. Paul may want out of New Orleans eventually, but not yet. There's no legit evidence that New Orleans wants to trade Paul or that Paul wants to be traded. If New Orleans has another bad year, go back to at it. Trading Paul seriously hurts the fan base and loses them money.

New Orleans Trades:
Chris Paul
Emeka Okafor
2010 Second Round Pick
Second Trade
Orlando Trades
6.3 Million Dollar Trade Exception
New Orleans Trades
James Posey
PG Chris Paul/CJ Watson (Bi-Annual)/Jason Williams(Vet Min)
SG JJ Redick/Michael Pietrues
SF Rashard Lewis/James Posey
PF Emeka Okafor/Brandon Bass/Ryan Anderson
C Dwight Howard/Tony Battie (Vet Min)
While I would start Okafor, you quickly bring Peaches off the bench and slide Lewis back to the 4. Establish the defense and then bring out the offense.
New Orleans would have about 24 Million coming in and 33 Million going out...saving 9 million this year alone.
Next summer, VC's 18 million comes off the books. Peaches could be looking for a new contract and opt out.
There is another 23.3 million in savings.
So the trade could potentially save the Hornets 32.3 million dollars instead of spending an extra 33 million in paying Paul, Okafor, and Posey.
That is a 65 million dollar swing.
What team can offer better?
If we have to wait until the dealine, the package of VC+Jameer+Gortat becomes even more valuable. We will have paid half of Vince's 17 mill and his expiring is very attractive to teams looking to cut costs going in to the summer.
We can bring back Barnes with part of the MLE and allow the TPE to expire, instead of moving it for Posey.
So we go in to next season with essentially the exact same roster. We see where chemistry and individual improvement gets us. If we click and are rolling through the regular season at a very high level of play, then stand pat. We make the move depending on how VC plays basically.
If VC refines his game and is able to be a go to guy on offense, then we keep him.
If he plays like he did this season, then we pull the trigger if the move is possible.

Re: "Magic Come Knocking for CP3"
I'm definitely happy Otis isn't just content with our roster, as he always says he is.
Still, I don't see how our package is any better than the Nets or a team like the Blazers, or Grizzlies. Nice to hope for though.

Not happening. Starting PG isn't the problem first of all, but Paul is an upgrade and as a GM you always try to improve the team.

Who cares if the starting PG isnt a problem, you're getting a top 5 player and soon to be top 5 PG ever to team with another top 5 player. You do whatever is necessary to get that done. CP3/Dwight and any kind of supporting cast(which you guys have thanks to your depth) would lead to MANY championships. CP3 is greatness, get him to team with Dwight and you have a dynasty.

Re: "Magic Come Knocking for CP3"
In my mind Chris Paul would be the best match for Dwight in the league... I just don't see our expirings as enough of an incentive for the Hornets, unless if maybe we're somehow able to aquire other high value players this offseason and then make something happen by the deadline... but I doubt that anyone is even going to be talking Paul by then...
Dwight + a resigned Paul = Dynasty though

Re: "Magic Come Knocking for CP3"
I am not sure where I heard it but I know for a year or two now Otis has really wanted to team D12 with CP3. Otis is probably just making his annual call to NO to see how they are feeling this year. It probably makes news because this year there is some speculation that NO may move him. Otis wants him and if he had his pick of everyone I think he would go CP3.

Right! And if your effing reading comprehension was up to par you see that I said if you have the chance to improve the team then you do it. Also, as I've stated in numerous other threads, the only PG's I consider upgrades are Chrs Paul, Deron Williams, and Derrick Rose...God damnit...READ!!

Everyone using the trade checker, remember that CP3 is only a BYC for a few more weeks and that likely changes all scenarios.

It's a smart pairing. Our team NEEDS a good ball distributor and as good a player as Nelson is he is not that.
Frankly, more than anything this all comes down to whether that ownership deal in NO ever goes down. We need to be hoping like hell they keep that guy they have in there now.

I wish this would happen but i doubt it does, like was said earlier maybe at the allstar break but i doubt it now even though that other PG in New Orleans is damn good i dont see them pissing off there fans before the season starts. But i dont see both of those PG's co-exsisting together for a long time either so who knows... BTW

interesting except for the fact, the rights to Vazquez are worth nothing. He is never coming to the NBA. Might as well offer the rights to Mickey Mouse. Its a player that will never wear an NBA uniform.

Exactly why we make a strong play for both of them. If we strike out on Paul right now, then offer up the TPE and more for the Collison.
If nothing happens, wait for the trade deadline and our package is even more attractive.

Re: "Magic Come Knocking for CP3"
Awesome to wake up this morning to read that my 1 in a million dream actually has some legs to it!
GO OTIS! GO!!!!
....whoever thinks PG isn't a problem is either ignorant about the job of a PG or is not recognizing the failures of Nelson. Yes, Nelson is a streaky shooter who can light up the scoreboard when he is on. Yes, he is a well liked teammate and team captain. Yes, he is a PAST All-star (not a perennial All-star). These are great facts on why to love him. However, his defense is atrocious and his passing vision is limited. When he is not scoring, he is an invisible player and liability on the floor. The rest of his game does not justify him being on the floor.
