Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part II)
i'm going to call it and say that the Magic will follow in Miami's footsteps and clear house so they can sign a star to team up with Dwight. they'll spend this season making him feel like 'the man', whilst doing everything they can to remain competitive whilst clearing cap space. wherever Paul ends up, he's going to be a FA anyway. if it's Boston, he won't want to resign there. if it's GSW, he won't resign. if it's LA, we're screwed, but who knows what's going on with their supposed deal. (i don't think the Hornets accept anything less than Bynum, TBH).
the 'benefit' from management's POV is that they can basically keep all the same pieces and "give them time to gel", like it will make a difference. i think:
- they'll convince Jameer to opt out with the promise of an extension and a role as 6th man.
- they'll decline JJ's option.
- they'll gauge his interest early, but will either deal Bass for an expiring or they'll let him opt out (imo, he will want to with all the cap space available).
- they'll trade Anderson at the deadline after they get him some exposure. hopefully Anderson + Q + Duhon for an expiring.
- they'll amnesty Gil if he won't opt out and restructure. if he does, they'll amnesty Hedo.
it won't be a pretty season, but at least it's a short one. makes it slightly easier to handle.

I did a twitter search for Orlando Magic, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Haha, great tweet from Blake. I think the LAL HOU trade is a sign we are a few offers away from a Paul dealing. They might have went public with it just to see if they get a few more GMs to offer better deals.

I sort of agree. My only issue is whether or not there will be anyone to sign then...

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part II)
RT @WojYahooNBA: Andy Miller, agent for Chauncey Billups, who describes his client as "irate" over possibility of NYK using amnesty on him
I love it. Still hate Billups from the Pistons series we had years back. I heard Billups was looking around the league, surveying his options for when he was amnestied. Does he even have a choice? Doesn't he go where he gets the best deal on waivers?

Yeah, I'm leaning towards it. How could they back off that rape of a deal if true.

Smokescreen?? Maybe?? Most likely is. But a few yrs back when we heard that Paul Gasol was going to be traded to the Lakers for Marc Gasol and a bag of chips everyone was saying no way that happens and then it did. I dont think this trade will happen though but if the Paul Gasol one did a few yrs back then you never know in this crazy league.

Personally, I don't think a Dwight decision will be made until after this season.
Then, there will be less money to Amnesty and better trade options. Let teams overspend now on the Free Agent and Trade frenzy.

Does having the mini-mle force you to use it all on one player? Not sure if you could squeeze 2 guys into that exemption.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part II)
You see Billups saying "Buyer Beware" for waiver wire teams? That unless he picks who he goes to he won't play for them. How much it would suck to get paid 16 mil and not do anything. Not like the Knicks are winning a ring and he's gonna miss out.
