for some reason, i look at everybody who signed up after the last year's playoffs as potential provocateurs.

I still think Nelson|Redick|'13 pick unprotected has border-line all star value. Would a three way with Minnesota or Portland work for GST, trying to send them Gerald Wallace or Derick Williams? To get Minnesota to bite, we could even offer the rights to Fran Vasquez, who is by all accounts either the best or one of the best centers in the Euro league and a former teammate to Rubio.

I'm still hopeful that as we get closer to the deadline, a team with either one of the better SF's or C's on the block will bite on our trade package and work a 3 team deal with us. I'm looking at Gerald Wallace or Al Jefferson as potentially going to GS, with Monta coming our way. Just a shot in the dark, but I think a move will get more likely, or at least I hope.

i don't think Nelson carries any value around the league whatsoever. i honestly don't think anyone would trade for him at $8M a year for the numbers he puts up. maybe next year, as an expiring, he'll have some value, but for now he's a lower tier PG who's paid more than the next crop of PGs who are all performing at a much higher level than he is.

Redick, OTOH, i think could land us good value because he's a good player on what is essentially an expiring contract. you have to think Minny would like him, given that they need a SG badly. Cleveland could use him. Utah would probably like him. Indy would probably like him. etc, etc.

but if you're offering up the '13 pick, it HAS to be protected, given that there's a very good chance we'll suck.

i still think Gerald Wallace would be a great addition for THIS team. he doesn't give us a go to scorer, but he gives us hustle and defense both on the wing and inside.

*EDIT - but, if Wallace can get GSW over the line, then go for it. heck, throw in Anderson if you have to!

hopefully Utah start considering giving up Jefferson, and are happy to take back a package of JJ + Beasley. that gives them 2 expirings, and 2 wings to test out.

I like it, but I think Utah asks for a little more. Not much more, but maybe add a draft pick.

and here's a Wallace based deal.

i know neither Davis nor Lee are C's, but a frontcourt of Davis/Lee/Wallace has enough size and hustle to make up for not having a true C. besides... there's only 3-4 C's who are going to hurt you offensively anyway, so it's manageable.

this works on so many levels. could be kaman, too.

it is in utah's best interest to unload big al and they get a pretty good return in JJ and beas.

Official Speculation Thread (Pt XV: Trade Deadline cont.)

Post#72 » by JarethCutestory » Thu Mar 8, 2012 8:11 am

Turk for CJ Miles and Devin Harris then Duhon/Ryan for Felton/Batum who says no?

We'd be 3 deep at the point and that equals 1 Nash or maybe even Magic no?

I don't know about Jameer not having value. Former all star with a career of average seasons sprinkled with great spurts here and there, including a balls to the wall '10 playoff run where he carried our team through two sweeps. If other teams don't value him then we certainly should, it would be a waste to just use him as a throw in. Other guys that get paid around as much: Andre Miller, Stuckey, Mo Williams, Conley, Udrih, Felton, Calderon, Harris. I don't get the impression that he doesn't belong on that list.

Often times the trades that are made, we never hear about, nobody heard a word about the Phoenix deal last year til it happened.

Maybe we'll make a move for Crawford or Ray Allen,
Also if we were to move Ryan Anderson to get a better 1/2/3 For some reason I just see us trying for Al Jefferson, dont ask me why, just a hunch
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

he does belong in that list, but most of the trades involving any of those guys has been insignificant ones. probably only felton net a decent return for his team when he was combined with more than several better players than him.

nelson and his likes are never in demand, they have never been inquired about. Nelson is at best a piece that GMs would think "meh, it is OK. he would not really hurt the team".

I think someone mentioned this already but we have a two day break between Chicago on Thursday and Indiana on Sunday. After that it seem to be strings of 1 day breaks or back-to-backs. Could see that be the window for a trade.

Stephen Jackson on going to the Bulls:

“Who wouldn’t want to play with Derrick Rose? Right up the street; it would be a great fit for me. I don’t think anybody in the league would say they wouldn’t want to do that, but me, at the end of the day, I just want to play. I’ve been a competitor my whole career, I’ve won everywhere I’ve went, so at this point, I just want to get back on the court and do what I do best, wherever that is,” Jackson told CSNChicago.com Wednesday morning. “I’m just here, working out every day, just waiting for my opportunity, so I can be ready, but that’s always my goal, to win a championship and I know being on a team like that, it wouldn’t be that hard.

“It’s been tough with me because I’ve been in a situation where I haven’t been playing, a situation that doesn’t fit me and the good thing about it is hopefully something happens in the next couple of weeks where I can get somewhere where I can play. At the end of the day, I’m here supporting the team right now and just trying to stay professional until something changes,” continued the versatile veteran. “I’ve heard a lot, but it’s kind of hard because teams don’t really say too much to me, especially this organization, but I’m just keeping my fingers crossed, just continuing to keep my body ready for when it’s time.”

Lol, I think he just wants to be anywhere else. I don't think he even cares where, at this point.

I have a funny feeling that tonight will be the last night we get to watch Dwight in a Magic uniform.

I'm expecting a blowout loss to the Bulls followed by Devos/Martins collectively pulling the trigger on a deal sending Dwight packing.

I'd say the chance of that trade being us bringing in someone to help keep Dwight stay is <1%.
