Sounds like more rumors to me. People are taking the yahoo speculation article and running with it. Got to love the media. They will do anything to get Howard out of Orlando.

Part of Kyler's coverage on Dwight telling the Magic to "Roll the Dice":
In the last 24 hours, the Magic have been connected to deals with the Minnesota Timberwolves – involving Jason Richardson and Michael Beasley – and secondary deals that could move out Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson.

Official Speculation Thread (Pt XIX: Trade Deadline cont.)
Kyler thinks Dwight was sincere last night, and sources tell him he still believes in Santa and that strippers think he's cute.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XIX: Trade Deadline cont
After getting over the shock of all that happened yesterday, I still think we should keep Dwight for the season. I like this team and don't want to see them screwed this year. Any trade we could make will probably just mess things up for this year, and unless its picks there's no guarantee that it wouldn't hurt this team more in the long run as well without the slim chance of Dwight staying or winning a title this year.
Have to stop worrying about the words being said and look at the situation. Whatever Dwight says, he doesn't get to decide until he's a free agent anyway. I've wanted to keep him all along, nothing anybody has said has changed the situation. Although it is kind of interesting how Dwight saying this now has had a disastrous effect PR-wise, but if he had said it weeks ago I have a feeling that most would be pretty happy about it.
As far as other possible trades, I don't really want any experiments. I'd be fine with some proven veterans, guys who should be able to adjust and contribute.

Alex Kennedy: Dwight Howard said the Magic have an opportunity to contend this year and he has made it clear that he wants finish the season in Orlando. Twitter
DWIGHT HOWARD SAID "the Magic have an opportunity to contend this year". Really? I thought you "just wanted to win" Dwight? If he thinks that THIS team can contend for a title (and our team could possibly be upgraded next year), then why not opt-in? At least that gives the organization a little more realistic time to bring in another star if that's what you want. In the meantime it would be the same team, which you yourself just said had "an opportunity to contend"...
It's because you would rather be in Brooklyn next year, you would rather be playing next to Deron, you would rather be making more endorsement $$$. And this is exactly why we think you are going to bolt in the summer. Because you yourself said this team is good enough to contend, and yet you aren't willing to opt-in for even one more year with it. That says something.
What does it say? That each situation has it's perks? That Dwight wants to have his cake and eat it too? ::GASP:: We all want to think we'd be better when put in his position, and a lot of us would be wrong. I really admire how Dwight has handled this season. The trade demand was supposed to be between him and Otis. Otis leaked it, and harped on it. Not saying that it was bad for Otis to do so. But we're being overly critical of Dwight. All season long he's focused on playing hard for the Magic, and he has. All season long he's had to deal with questions about his situation and pretty much every time I have seen it he says he wants to focus on playing.
Dwight has made many mistakes, for sure. But we're being way too critical of the guy. Taking every mistake and blowing it up into a defining characteristic. It's sad, and in my opinion, very flaky on some fans' parts.
LOL. You've admired how he has handled it? You might be the only person on the Earth who has (including the Magic FO, his teammates, his coaches, the media, the fanbase...). This whole idea of his trade request was supposed to be private is so dumb. You don't think the second that the Magic started calling teams asking what they would give up for Dwight, that it wouldn't start to become painfully obvious? Or that he wouldn't block the same teams that he is blocking us from trading now by not committing to them? It would've all ended up in the exact same scenario. Also, if I were Dwight, I would do what's best for me, but also be honest with my organization to the fullest. If I wanted to go to NJ, I would tell them straight up. "I'm sorry guys, it's been an amazing run, thank you so much for everything, but I'm going to go sign in Brooklyn in the summer. 100%. No ifs ands or buts about it. It's just something I have to do for me. No hard feelings I hope?" Also, if I already had that amount of money and was going to basically get a crapload more even if I stayed here (and I was supposedly so religious where I agreed with somebody's twitter quote from the Bible about a rich man being hard to get into the kingdom of Heaven - which Dwight did)....then, no, that wouldn't factor into my decision whatsoever. There does come a point of diminishing marginal utility in the world of economics. Again, if he wants to go to NJ, that's his right, nobody is denying that. Just man up and say that's exactly what you want. Don't leave your organization that basically built you from the ground up high and dry simply because you want to get wined and dined by a few teams this summer. That's petty and selfish.

Interesting. I want them to pick up Barea and Beasley. Then we have a good back-up PG and strengthen our 3/4 positions by cutting BBD and Turk's minutes.

We can pile up on young talent and have a couple 1st round picks to look forward to this summer. clear out as much cap as possible and tank for a top 5 pick in the 13 draft. by then we will have a young core of players and room for free agents. Keep SVG he has made me a believer this season.
ROLL THE DICE DWIGHT U SERIOUS!?
This is the best team we have right here for years to come over any team post a hypothetical trades people have posted here.
You say trade dwight and be a 30-40 win average team or keep Dwight fight for the title and a chance to keep him. If he does walk after all, this is 20 win team with a good lottery pick in 2013.
This is our last chance to contend for a title for years. In one more year in 2013, this team will be without Meer & Hedo with tons of cap space. Take that shot for a title while we still can.
ROLL THE DICE, KEEP DWIGHT!
wrong. If Dwight is traded for example Bynum, and other roster moves include an upgrade at PG and a defending wing player, something that could be done after next year with salaries coming off, but that Dwight doesnt want to wait around for, that team would be better than this one.

Umm, no we arent. and NJ picks arent going to be that great either. suck ass next year and in 2013 get a high draft pick. by that time Turk is tradeable at 6 mil only, trade J rich now for Beasley to get rid of that contract, Jameer is off the books. have the opportunity to sign a good FA that offseason and get a good draft pick. Whether we have Lopez and Marshon doesnt change the fact that we will still suck. We arent making the playoffs with those two. I have to think long term and that is to keep Dwight, let him walk, suck next year (which will suck), get a high draft pick and sign a solid FA and start rebuilding. This is the best option for us.
and im NOT taking Bynum on his 80 year old knees. i cringe everytime i see him go up for a rebound thinking his knee cap is going to bust.
This sounds like it makes a lot of sense to me.
Gotta love Loyalty! Go Magic!

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt XIX: Trade Deadline cont
Here's what Kyler has to say about it on Twitter:
And he also answered some questions:
Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
Here is what I can tell you... pregame, I was convinced Dwight was gone... tone and temperament around the team suggested he was gone.
Postgame... after seeing Dwight be as a sincere and candid as he has been in maybe two years... I can see why the Magic are pausing
I have known Dwight for his entire career... I consider him a friend... always open, honest & candid with me on a wide range of things
I bought what he was selling last night... and he did something he and talked about last week --- he said the words - I want to win here.
I have said this from the jump... New Jersey offers the Superteam scenario in a major market.. but a lot has to come together for that
I don't buy that Dwight is planning to screw the Magic... that's too easy to jump to... A lot still lands in NJ's court to pull in 3rd star
I said this last night... no one is helping the Magic... no one is taking their bad contracts in a Howard deal... they do not have to.
So if you do a deal with jersey, what are you getting... Okur's ending contracts, Lopez who you'll have to pay major money to and Farmar?
Jersey is not giving up its draft picks... they don't have to... they get the first stab at Dwight on July 1 regardless...
The story from dwight;s camp for the last two years was he wanted to do something in Orlando no one else could do... win a championship...
There is one thing that very clear for the Magic --- if they trade Howard the season is lost -- I am not sure they will do that
I am realistic about whats going on... Howard is in Brooklyn next year if they can get a third star...
Let me give you a scenario... your supermodel girl friend is leaving in July... she's gone... your not getting anything close in return
Do you enjoy the next 3 months and see how far you can go... or do you just dump here today... she's gone. Thats clear.
No one is offering the Magic nearly anything close to a future... you are getting pieces, and bad ones at that... try to win a title
And he also answered some questions:
@HenrySanchez: getting shaq'd is better? ---> If you get your 85 year old owner one more trip to the Finals... maybe
@jfleminghoops: Brooks? ---> Why would New Jersey give that up for a guy they get first audience with in July?....
@Allensb23: Steve this team is not getting past the Heat. <--- They have TWICE!
@E_Money18: do you think that this team and how they are playing, is really making him second guess things? <--- somewhat
@Bob_Shepard: If they don't trade him, the next 5 years are lost. <--- thats a given regardless... won;t get anything back for him.

Official Speculation Thread (Pt XIX: Trade Deadline cont.)
The same people saying roll the dice and win a title this year will be cursing the organizations name when we lose in the playoffs or hell even falter in the rest of the season. Then heads will explode when the harsh reality of Dwight signing with his new team happens.

If I am forced to trade Dwight, I think the Knicks have the best offer. I think Stan is a much better coach than D'Antoni so a Carmelo trade works better here. I just don't like the idea of having the East's 3rd best team and being in cap hell for the next 4 years.
