The Magic should hire Shaq & Penny give them some type of jobs in the organization it will be nice seeing them around. Bring back Tmac to end his career here. If the magic would do this it will show Dwight the Magic believe in tradition and I think this is what Dwight will need to mature.
I wouldn't be surprised, with the comment Alex Martins said about Championship experience that Shaq being hired for a position within the organization.
Let's start a petition to bring Shag, Penny, Tmac, Darrell Armstrong back, this team needs it now...[/q uote]
For what? That's lame imo bring in players that will bring us closer to a title. Fudge all that sentimental crap. Sure DA in a player development role or something..ok. but tmac? Get me dwill, iggy, monta.

When the Magic opted not to trade Dwight and allowed the circus - that was the end of the road for Stan.. he never wanted that
Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
When the team allowed that, it illustrated to Stan that the team was not concerned about winning games and it was time for a change

RT @kevinajones7: so this SVG firing is more about him being fed up with Magic rather than vice versa? ---> About equal.

Good morning. I have a story to tell and I'll be telling it on @740thegame at 8:15. Spoke w/ a few sources last night.
Dwight Howard wants out of Orlando, the events of today notwithstanding, a source close to Howard tells SheridanHoops.com On the day coach Stan Van Gandy and general manager Otis Smith lost their jobs with the Magic, a source who has spoken with Howard recently said the All-Star center desperately wants to be traded prior to the start of next season. And although the Brooklyn Nets are still considered the frontrunner, “it is not going to be a one-horse race,” the source said, listing the Mavericks, Knicks and — to a lesser degree — the Clippers and Lakers as among the destinations that would appeal to Howard.
But in fact, the source said, Howard wants out of Orlando more than he ever did before in order to start a new chapter of his career. And it is well-known throughout the league that the Magic do not want to endure another soap opera season like the one they just experienced. Orlando team executives are expected to meet soon with Howard as he recovers from the back surgery he underwent last month in California. If Howard tells them he wants out, they are expected to try to accomodate him and deal him to the highest bidder. One piece of the puzzle that could influence Howard’s landing spot is whether a team acquiring Howard would be willing to take on the contract of Hedo Turkoglu, who is due to make $23.6 million over the next two seasons. The combined salaries of Howard and Turkoglu will be $30.6 million next season, and few teams will have the cap room or the assets to do a trade in which the salaries match.
What's it going to be, Dwight? "The decision is up to Dwight now," Magic CEO Alex Martins said Monday after announcing that both Van Gundy and Smith have been relieved of their duties. "Dwight needs to decide where his future lies. It's been well-documented what our desires are. Now Dwight needs to decide what his are."

How on Earth could not trading Dwight be viewed as "not concerned about winning games"? As a matter of fact, it's quite the opposite.
If true, then both of these two needed to go, immediately. Ridiculous.

I started getting the sense of Otis and SVG thinking they were bigger variables towards our success when this whole mess started. This is a players league and I guess these guys just never got the memo. Or maybe at a certain point success intoxicates and deludes. Don't do drugs, kids.

Yep, Rudolph confirmed it.
Although I'd heard the rumors a few months back, I'd never really put much stock into it......until now.
How deluded do you seriously have to be to think that trading Dwight would actually help anything? Have they seen how we looked when he was gone the last month or so? Do they really think Brooke Lopez would have changed any of that?
Ridiculous. Plain and simple. Otis is too blind to see that his moves were shot-sighted and borderline ignorant, and Stan actually thinks he can help the team more than Dwight. What's funny is, Stan threw Dwight under the bus for trying to get him fired, while he was trying to get him traded.rcklsscognition wrote:I actually think Foyle should be the assistant GM. Yeah, I remember reading that we are very short-staffed on the FO front.....looks like an overhaul is coming to me.
