Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
Melo on #Knicks Lin saga: "It's not up to me. It's up to the organization to say that they want to match that ridiculous contract."

This is how I thought most Knicks fans were feeling. To match Lin on that massive contract would kill all of their flexibility. They have to bite the bullet and let this one go. Too risky to give that kind of money to a guy who played 13 games (?). I like Lin's game, but it's just not a good basketball move for the Knicks. Sure they lose out on the cash cow, but that's fine. They're New York. As long as they're winning, they're selling merchandise.

I'll believe it when I see it in regards to the Knicks allowing Lin to walk. It's just not going to happen.

And I know Melo is not talking about 'ridiculous' contracts. Both him and Amare are grossly overpaid.

Nah... doubt Henny and his crew need us to tell them how to do their job.

The way Stephen A talks, you'd think he had beef with Rob Hennigan.

I'm no Stephen A hater, but he's only seeing this situation from one point of view. Sure, D12 wanted to go to BRK and won't sign an extension in LA or HOU. BUT, it's completely unrelated if the offer from the Nets was bull. The Magic do not have to cater to D12 if it cripples our franchise in the process. Stephen A isn't seeing this from the Magic's end.

I believe after Tuesday. That is the last day the Knicks can match. Then we will have to wait until the end of Friday for Asik. I expect Howard to be moved in the last week of July once Houston knows exactly how much cap space they have.
r

Thanks thats what I thought. Maybe Knicks will officially announce decsion before then as I just want a resolution to this whole ordeal. At least like another poster said preseason NFL is around the corner to help take my mind off of this. Hopefully Chicago matches offer leavin the Rockets thin at center.

I disagree. I think it's a necessity they bring him back. It's backloaded, so the first two years are going to be reasonable to deal with. If he works out, plays at the level he has shown, then 5 million is a good price. They'd be getting a steal. Now that 14 million year, that'll hurt. But I think 2 years of Linsanity will be well worth it, as long as he maintains the level of play.

Thing is too, the Knicks were garbage last year, without Lin. 8-14. Pretty sure near the bottom of the East at that time. I can definitely see them going back to that level of play if they let Lin go. Last year, pre-Lin, pretty much shows how far they will go with Melo and Amare. Lin saved the season.

I agree, it's a risk. But the alternative of letting him go, and going forward with Felton, Amare, Kidd, Melo, and Chandler isn't going to get you anywhere either.

Stephen A. Smith did a wonderful job embarrassing himself on SportsCenter this morning and into the early afternoon.

Yes it is ironic that he would be asked about "ridiculous"contract when he is on one and Amare may have arguably the worst contract in the NBA next to JJ.

Yup. The offers just aren't worth it. The initial rumored Houston deal, with 3 or 4 1st round picks, taking Hedo, Duhon, Jrich, sending over Parsons, Martin, White, Lamb, etc... you can't turn that down. It's a great start to a rebuild. But if the actual deal is Parsons, a pick, only taking Jrich, n whatever making it significantly less, the Magic won't be in that much better position than if they just let Dwight go. In that case, might as well hang on to him n see if Dwight changes again.

I don't see him walking out on the court at Amway without signing an extension. He'll be booed of the court by the home town fans...not good. Hopefully Houston will eventually come around to a fair deal.

Jason Kidd was arrested for a DWI last night... Seems like he's not taking the news of being Raymond Felton's backup for the next three years very lightly....

There are none. Ryno is gone and the bad contracts completely rule out free agency and trades.

Keeping Dwight - Improve the team around him

You can really only pick one

The media could careless what the magic gets for Dwight just as long as he goes to BRK . We can be the Orlando Bucks for all they care , I feel we are irrelevant when it comes to teams that the media wants to cover . They love the new super teams an we are a speed bump in the way of that happening . I wish they could see that parady is what has the NFL where it is , cause every year u feel like your team has a chance for the most part .

Right. Only way he sees the court in ORL is with an extension.

I wouldn't rule out that possibility either. D12 is perhaps the most fickle athlete I've ever seen.
