I could see Oladipo or Afflalo being the sixth man. I say let the best man start. If in training camp Oladipo looks better, start him. If Afflalo whines, tell him you'll find a place to trade him to (most likely a playoff team) at some point in the season but he just needs to go out there and play hard for the team until then.

If Afflalo is the better player in camps and preseason, let Oladipo come off the bench, but give him significant minutes. Like others have said, 10-12 mpg at PG, and another 20 at SG is starting minutes, just not necessarily from a starter.

Also coming off the bench might be just as beneficial for Oladipo's development, as he'll be more of a focal point offensively for the second unit, where as with the first unit he won't be.

Skin, I have to say I almost always disagree with you man. I do enjoy reading your post though, I even read through that whole long Burke thread you created.

You can say it all you want, but you're wrong. It's fair to say Afflalo's not worth as much as some think on here, but he definitely doesn't have "negative value" like you're saying. He's got decent size, can shoot, can defend, works hard, wants to win badly, decent contract, only 27 years old... he would be a solid addition to any team trying to win in need of a SG. Hennigan just hasn't found the right deal yet. Doesn't mean he's untradeable.

Hennigan has to trade either Davis or Afflalo before the season. If we keep those guys + Nelson and they play 28-34 MPG as suspected, there's absolutely no way this team will be a bottom feeder. With the growth of Harris, Vucevic and Harkless, and the addition of Oladipo, this is easily a 30-win team.

Not only forget about Wiggins, but chances are we'll end up in the bottom half of the lottery and possibly missing out on a potential franchise player.

So, what team is going to be interested in him and what do you think they'd offer?

Monta Ellis just got $10M/per, and everyone considers him a much more dynamic player. You can spin it how you want, but quite frankly, Afflalo is an average player commanding ~$8M/per over the next few years. Chances are you could acquire an expiring for him and maybe a pick, but even then it's far-fetched. In order to dump him, additional salary will be coming back as filler (e.g. Harrington).

Wow, negative value? Decent, pesky defender, good third scoring option, reasonable contract. Where is the negative?

I'm not saying Afflalo is a bad player; I'm simply stating the obvious -- at ~$8M/per, he's negative value. Until proven otherwise, I just don't see any team parting with a valuable piece to acquire him. Well, unless they are dumping a contract on us in return.

Only time will tell.

I like Afflalo and think he's well worth the money. He's paid starters money and has the skills to deliver. His three point shooting went wayyyy down but that is likely an aberration. No he's not dynamic but he is good regardless. I won't mind us keeping him in the slightest

Some of you guys amaze me. Afflalo is a great player and a good professional to work with. He will do great helping dipo catch up. Afflalo is a 3rd option. Just because hes not a franchise player doesnt mean hes terrible.

I'm interested to see if AA will actually pass it to anyone other than Jameer, BBD or the rim next season.

I can understand the AA hate. He didn't exactly make a good impression in his first season here. Attitude and play. I think he's better than what he showed, but he definitely has to be a better teammate next season to win over this fanbase.

Well, I guess it depends on expectations and vision. Me personally, I view our short term future something like this:

'14 Draft/Nelson
Oladipo/Lamb
Harkless
Harris/Nicholson
Vucevic/O'Quinn

Ideally, if we miss out on Wiggins, we can land either Smart or Harrison to solidify the point. Add another wing prospect in the 20s range and you solidify your depth chart. The wild card is adding a MAX FA to that core.

So, as you can see, there literally is no room for Afflalo unless you plan on dealing Harkless or Harris at some point. I could see Harkless going in the right deal, but I'm not that high on Afflalo (especially at ~$8M) to keep him over younger, cheaper talent. And the longer we hold on to him, the less likely it will be to shed his salary without taking on a mini-albatross in return.

My $.02.

I see the wizards are interested in Blair, if they strike out on him would y'all be interested in something like bbd for okafor and a second rounder? Okafor is a 14m expiring.

Probably not a bad idea if we're looking at adding a MAX FA in 2014.

AA is a third scoring option, Oladipo has the potential to be a first scoring option. Eventually Dipo will start, just not at the start of the season.

I like AA I just think he's traded by the deadline if a good deal comes up which usually happens as teams try and make a push in the PO's. He's perfect in the sense that he's a great mentor for the new guys along with what he brings to the table on the court. The reality is, Hennigan is going to have to clear some mins for our young players if he truly wants to develop them and he'll have to move some vets to do that.

Really? I'm actually happy with where we are. Actually have a chance to build the team the right way.

So, you're actually telling me you prefer being this team then say, when we were dominating in 2009 and 2010? I'd take those two teams over our current team any day of the week. Until we get a franchise player, we're not going anywhere.
