Henny: I have ground rules for you to follow to play on my team.

BG: If that is the case, I gotta make at least $4.5 mil.

Henny: But, nobody will pay you more than the vets minimun!?!?!

BG: but, you have ground rules, that is extra.

Henny: Done deal!

BG: Where to I sign?

Henny: Right here, I got a signature app for that.

I doubt Ridnour starts. I can see the minutes /gamebreakdown like this:

PG-Payton (25), Oladipo (16), Ridnour (7)
SG-Oladipo (15), Fournier (20), B. Gordon (7), Harkless (6)
SF-Harris (24), A. Gordon (10), Harkless (14)
PF-Frye (20), Oquinn (10), A. Gordon (10), Harris (6), Nicholson (2)
C-Vuc (30), OQuinn (10), Frye (8)

That would put total minutes as follows:

Oladipo (31)
Vuc (30)
Harris (30)
Payton (25)
Frye (28)
Fournier (20)
A. Gordon (20)
Oquinn (20)
Harkless (20)
Ridnour (7)
B. Gordon (7)
Nicholson (2)

I don't think there is any doubt that minutes are going to be tight next year, and someone is going to suffer. Under the above set-up, Harkless will see his minutes drop and Nicholson will be the odd man out.

LOL'd and And 1'd this SO hard!

As for the Ridnour signing, I like it. He's basically Ronnie Price this year, he'll get really limited minutes and fill in if an injury makes it necessary. Maybe he can teach Payton and Oladipo a few things. I also like the move as it might allow Oladipo to spend less time at PG where he can - at times - be a liability from a turnover perspective. Overall, the free agency period has been a bit disappointing because we signed one decent player and two replacement level players. But, no one realistically expects this team to be a powerhouse, so it makes sense.

I'm OK with Ridnour...he'll sit the bench mostly and is cheap.

Ohhhh give it up ffs! You have no idea what you are talking about. Ben Gordons deal has ZERO impact on our cap. Agghhhh

I really like this move. When it was kind of rumored we were looking for a 3rd PG, he is exactly who I wanted. For people expecting a little bit of a bigger splash, why? Ridnour is exactly what we need, a solid veteran player who can help Payton but not really eat into his minutes. Why would we want a PG that will ask for a ton of minutes and hold our Rookie back from getting a lot of playing time? I mean that's a big part of why we let Jameer go.

Luke will be a solid addition to our bench though, nothing special but has been around the block for a while. He is good enough to where if he needs to play a bigger role then he can, like say an injury happens, but for the most part I expect him to be the 3rd PG off the bench, with Dipo splitting time there and Payton playing a lot as well.

I see many of the small FA deals as bench upgrades. Luke Ridnour easily takes all of the past guards together as an increased package. Lamb, Price, and Moore for Ridnour: a clear upgrade in my book.

Frye is an upgrade over Davis and Maxiell.

Gordon is not an upgrade over Afflalo.

..

Seems it would be more like Gordon + Fournier vs Afflalo as an upgrade or not.

Or more to the point, Gordon for a year (maybe two) + Fournier for however long we have him + Marble for however long we have him vs Afflalo for a year (no way he re-signs imo). Fans tend to take a really short-sighted look at deals, but there's a reason stars with expiring contracts don't tend to return equal value.

I really like this move! Luke Ridnour will be very effective coming off the bench and good mentor.

Why are you so angry?

1 YEAR is guaranteed... And if he doesn't play well he's going to get cut... And MOST LIKELY he will be cut (IMO).

I don't see what the big deal is...

Not bad. You forgot Marble and Willie Green though. Also I'm guessing Hark won't play SG given our logjam there now.

I don't see Green playing much, and I don't think Harkless will play any minutes as a guard. Marble will be sent to play with Erie most of the year I think, and will only play for the Magic if injuries happen. I also see Nicholson as the odd man out unfortunately. Maybe he'll improve over last year and will earn minutes which would be great, but right now I just don't see where he fits. There are just 4 other guys that I would rather see get time at PF before him, Frye, Harris, Gordon, and O'Quinn. We'll see what JV decides to do though, but I see the minutes going something like this:

Oladipo (18)/Payton (20)/Ridnour (10)
Fournier (23)/Oladipo (13)/B.Gordon (12)/Green (Garbage time)
Harris (12)/Gordon (18)/ Harkless (18)
Frye (27)/ Harris (18)/ Gordon (3)/ Nicholson (Garbage time)
Vuc (32)/ O'Quinn (16)/ Dedmon (Garbage time)
