Ok you are happy, he got pt. So what now? Do we carry on with this 'great shooter' that can't score open shot??
He isn't ready yet, lets hope he 'll be better next season

Wow could you be any more reactionary? Suddenly he's a bad shooter after one game where he actually got extended minutes and didn't shoot well. He'll perform better when he starts getting more consistent PT.

but do we wait on playing time until next year, so that the growing pains continue? or get those out of the way now when we have nothing really to compete for, so that he comes into next year more prepared?

You can say that all you want but that won't make it true. He's just currently in a shooting slump but he is still finding a way to contribute. Not getting consistent minutes and touches has a lot to do with it. Check out Durant's 3 point shooting percentage from his rookie season.

Pretty tough to find a rhythm as a shooter when you get spot minutes and play with Fournier or Oladipo and Jason Smith.

That said, if you don't think he already looks like he'll have a long career as an elite three point shooter then you haven't been watching him.

I just said that he isn't ready yet and doesn't deserve pt yet.

Leave Mario alone !

Image

How can he build confidence and score when Oladipo and Fournier would rather make out with Bruce Jenner than pass the ball to him...?

:D
Srsly now the "chemistry" in Orlando´s team is bad. Fournier and Oladipo´s unwillingness to pass Mario and AG is showing.

Wasn't necessarily talking to you but if you think he doesn't deserve playing time then maybe you don't have a good understanding of the talent level on the Magic.

there is nothing wrong in wanting any rookie in your team to have success.
From strength, learn gentleness. Through gentleness, strength will prevail.

Lol I love the guys who think we're the 2004 Detroit Pistons and we need to make Mario our Darko Milicic.

Did I do it right?

I'll post some stats that I already posted on reddit:

Payton/Oladipo/Fournier: ORTG-97.5 , DRTG-106.6 (480 mins)

Payton/Hezonja/Fournier:ORTG-107.9 ,DRTG-102.6 (97 mins)

Obviously it's small sample size, but it's big enough to be a pretty good indicator of Hezonja's impact offensively. Hezonja/Fournier 2 man lineup have been in general fire offensively, much better than Oladipo/Fournier, while having a slightly worse drtg. Especially if this team plans to roll with EP as their pg of the future, Hezonja's presence will soonly be needed as it has been proven continuosly that Elfrid/Oladipo backcourt just isn't working. That being said I think that Mario should definitely see an increase in his minutes and I believe he should be there on the court in crunchtime more often.

If you play 5 than 20 than again 5 minutes than you can't get rhythm
If you get ball by accidently and not when you have to you can't get rhythm
If you not allowed to shoot than you can't get rhythm
So when he will be 10 I the row you will able to say is he shooter or not

The thing that has actually been impressing me about him is..... His vision. The guy knows how to play the game and in some cases seems to be thinking one step ahead of most players as well. Which can lead to turnovers especially when the players aren't expecting it.... but they could have easily led to an easy bucket. His shooting will come around.... but i feel as though he affects the game in so many more aspects that people might over look! Just the way he moves the ball could totally change the complexion of the a lineup.

SO... in my eyes.... he is definitely going to be more than just a shooter and moreso a more complete package... In my opinion... Klay thompson with better passing skills and maybe a slightly lesser of a defender.

Hope he gets another crack at the starting lineup tonight!!!!

His feel for the game on offense is exceptional indeed.

His passing and vision is really good, I'd dare to say one of the best on the team. Payton's passing is great as well but in my opinion Hezonja's passing may be more spectacular, Payton does clean effective passing but it rarely wows you. Mind you, I am not saying Mario is a better passer than Payton.

My impression is that Hezonja still struggles with reading the limits of his teammates. This is why he sometimes throws a hard pass toward butter fingers Dedmon or similar. With more playing time, he'd get better feel for his teammates, they'd know to expect the unexpected from him (passing wise) and he could help this team going forward.

I'm looking forward to tonight. Mario will probably get second start of his career and I'm hoping he will be less jittery tonight. I'm predicting a career high for him.

This is what is so asinine about people who think Mario shouldn't be getting more playing time.

They think if he's given minutes that he should be playing at his full potential. :banghead:

C'mon cedric. You should be better than this. It's not about him being 100% ready now to fulfill all his promise. It's about him getting the chance to get better in live games. It's about speeding up his development. At worst, it's not like we're risking winning games because he's playing more minutes. So I don't even buy the "we're trying to win now, that's why he needs to be benched" mantra.
