They saw someone they liked (Karim Mane) that they knew they could get as an undrafted Free Agent. This happened last year with Dequan Jeffries who unfortunately turned down a Two-Way Deal to try and make the 15 Man Roster which was not ready for.

Jeffries was then claimed by Sacramento and given wait for it, a Two-Way Deal.

Everyone would have been fine with Mane at #45 and now The Magic have him on a Two-Way Deal with Two future Seconds.

I maintain to everyone dealing #45 for Two future seconds (You usually can't get more than one for a 2nd around #45) was a good deal.

I'm not fully on board with that because...

1) they traded the pick so early without knowing who was even in range of being available.

2) I absolutely love some of the guys that got picked after 45.

3) they could've drafted 45 and still added Mane.

4) they said roster spots were too important and then signed some minimal impact players who will come in, collect a check and leave without ever being a memory.

Remember, they also have two rookies (Okeke and Anthony) and Bamba to develop. It's hard to develop people without giving them minutes.

They might have just drafted Mane at #45 too. Jordan Bone was also brought in on a Two-Way Deal.

Someone at #45 could have not made the team as well.

I respect the positivity. I agree that developing players means giving them minutes. I just think they could've sent him to Lakeland.

Plus, the minutes that Ennis, Clark and Bacon get are being wasted on players who will come and go. Could've been used on development.

The more I watch of Mane, the more I think we might be found a really great diamond in the rough. Might take him a few years to adjust to the pace of the game, but the kid looks like the full package with his base skills set, his measurements and his athleticism. He looks like so much more of a legitimate prospect compared to most guys we bring in from the 2nd round.

I'm really excited for him. Sneaky good addition. Can't wait to see him on the court.

when tho......when.....no news on the g-league as of yet.....you'd think they'll be starting around the same time as the big boys but i don't even think the decision makers on that issue has even got together yet to make a decision on what they're going to do.....bubble? no bubble? regional bubble? they don't even know that yet much less a definitive date which sucks.....cause i'm legitimately interested in the g-league this year especially with jalen green and a few other top prospects forgoing college in favor of getting a legit check and early experience playing against grown men

Will be interesting to see what happens with G-League, especially with the extra depth required for potential covid outbreaks.

I haven't googled it yet. Are there no announcements for it at all?

Just month and half ago there was rumor that G league all together- won't be played for 2020-21 season.

There is also rumor that it will be just bubble showcase.
It's pointless to grow expenses in a year where NBA will once again suffer huge economical deficit.

NBA G League writer Adam Johnson provided further clarity (via Twitter) on the G League’s potential bubble idea this season, adding that the idea of a January campus in Atlanta (similar to Orlando) is being discussed. A minimum of 12 games would be played, with daily testing and quarantine periods required for each of the participants. Teams would likely have a $500K entry fee in the proposed idea, with the league hopeful of adding more games over time, Johnson tweets.
