Looking at these trades for their small pieces, I think we need to value more the shift of Aminu off of this roster. Also: Clark had to go. He was not even at a 2way level of capacity.

The problem for me is why get Gary Harris then.

They had to match salaries. I doubt they targeted him. Although if he's injured for the year it may help the tank.

Did we really value RJ that much over GTJ and/or Neismith Langford? I mean if you think it over amd listen to rumors :

RJ + Harris vs Nesmith + Langford? Although the frp between BOS and DEN mihht have diff protections

RJ + Harris vs GTJ + Hood? with Zach a filler. Although POR frp might be better than DEN due to they night implode earlier than DEN

Name Age

R.J. Hampton 20
Karim Mane 20
Wendell Carter Jr. 21
Mo Bamba 22
Markelle Fultz 22
Chuma Okeke 22
Jonathan Isaac 23
Dwayne Bacon 25
Gary Harris 26
Otto Porter Jr. 27
Khem Birch 28
Chasson Randle 28
Michael Carter-Williams 29
James Ennis III 30
Terrence Ross 30

The average age of the Magic is now 24.6 with a median of 24.
Birch, Randle, and Ennis are unlikely to be with this team next year, and with a probable three rookies coming, I suspect the average age will be about 23 next year with a median of 22.

Are you advocating tanking out the 2021/22 seasons ?!?!?!?

Him being injured this year helps the tank. Next season if he's 100% he seems to be serviceable.

Harris was a heck of a player a few years ago, being 26, I hope he can get that back. Maybe he thought he was being pushed out in DEN.w/ Murray and Jokic taking over the team?
But we should get his contract year effort next year, so that should be a gimmer of hope.
Could be the difference of him making $2M a year vs. $10M.

I also was leaning towards a shooter but RJ is definitely interesting and will cost a LOT less than Trent with POSSIBLY much more upside. He really is a blur with the ball and he's hardly played in DEN but he has watched their version of a PG in Jamal Murray, who regularly puts up big scoring nights...If he can just get his shot going (so tired of saying that), he could be really good next to equally fast, big, skilled Fultz...in the short term, he might look good next to Cole while Harris complements Fultz in the starting lineup (next year).

Dedmon 25

Gordon 31
Ridnour 33
Green 33

mean = 24.9 and median = 24

....

Let's say the Magic drafts Jalen Green, Roko Prkačin, and Allen Flanigan, a very reasonable concept of what the Magic rookie core will look like, Our Magic is thus before the FA market:

Roko Prkačin 18
Jalen Green 19
Allen Flanigan 19
Cole Anthony 20
R.J. Hampton 20
Wendell Carter 21
Mo Bamba 22
Markelle Fultz 22
Chuma Okeke 22
Jonathan Isaac 23
Dwayne Bacon 25
Gary Harris 26
Michael Carter-Williams 29
Terrence Ross 30

average is 22.6 and median is 22.

Orlando might field the youngest team in the NBA next year.

Honestly, I hope he improves. His development has been shady.

This is some Alex Martins level BS spin right here. Just a bold faced lie.

If Weltman truly believed that this team was capable of getting a top 4 seed this year, then why wouldn't the same thing apply to next year when everyone was healthy + a top 5 draft pick?

Why would you unload everyone if you really believed this?

It's a pathetic lie.

I think WCjr is what you want in a big man now. Servicable but not a high usage guy. Good shooter, solid passer, 3pt shot getting better each year, gets to the line more than Vuc, gets fewer rebounds than Vuc (but if JI is back at the 4 that's probably OK).

Basically a guy who does his part but needs little focus. Obviously we need scorers around him, but I'd much rather have my scoring come from the wings and guards than the center position.

I'm typically there with you, but maybe Weltman also believed to only have a year or two window with the current roster so all the injuries this season (which will linger into next season) could mess up that plan.

I mean, if we're healthy in the East this year we probably were a 3-6 seed. But that doesn't mean we'd be a good team or even stand a chance against the top teams in the playoffs.

"We felt we could be a homecourt team", LMAO. Maybe he meant he was expecting another playoff bubble in Orlando.

Isaac & Fultz aren't just going to magically start playing 100% right away. It's going to take some time and I'm not even sure Fultz is healthy to start the year. AG wanted out and Fournier wasn't going to re sign here so you're basically asking the FO to run it back with a worse team. What's the starting 5 look like next year if we "run it back" knowing AG + Fournier aren't here?
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.
