Should we start a running tally?

Missed games in a row: 3
Missed games since returning this season: 6 out of 17
Average playing time in minutes: 11.3

As someone who hopes he gets better. Sure why not. I enjoy seeing progress or lack thereof stats.

It's more about tracking his ability to be on court after he was deemed 100% healthy. 100% healthy meant 10 minutes a game while also taking 1 game off every 4. Maybe 10 minutes was too much or 3 out of 4 games was too much because he's sidelined indefinitely again without any sort of injury noticed in his last game besides logging 16 minutes (most this season).

He makes us better when he plays but the inability to predict when he can play may hurt more in the long run. Bummer, too, because it looks like the FO is actually pushing for us to win right now.

Hilarious was that certain posters claimed he is "healthy and held off by front office" back in November.

He is "100% healthy" on 10 mpg twice a week. And it seems to be too much. Maybe next time, around 2026 we should bring him slowly. Like 1 min per season. Just to keep him fresh .

It's such a idiotic situation to even discuss, nba should get involved , send doctors and throw white towel and hand him medical retirment papers.

My take: the team is being overly, overly, overly, OVERLY cautious.

With 5 weeks left in the season, I'm not mad about that.

I think the main goal is to get JI on the floor this season, no matter how limited, just to get some confidence back, and ensure he's 100% by season's end.

Then come 23-24, he's got the greenlight.

Just by the flashes we have seen I think he is going to be great as a player on his team. If his feet can manage to touch the floor for 20mpg for a season I will be so happy.

As stated before this recovery is trending towards failure. It's a long way to go I guess. Maybe trade him to the Suns with an agreement to trade him back after he wins a ring and comes back healthy with their medical staff.

There is a reason he was out 2 and a half years and had hamstring surgery before even returning to practice. It’s the same reason he’s only averaging 11 mpg and is already hurt again after playing in 11 games. They won’t tell us, but the medical staff knows. Honestly he probably shouldn’t even be playing. He’s made millions of dollars, go lead a productive life and don’t cause permanent damage to yourself.

A substantial amount of players that come back from injuries have groin and hamstring pulls. Gary Harris just missed 11 games with a hamstring pull after he came back from a knee injury.

Thank you for charting everything he does tho.

i dont know, 23-24 sounds early. should probably wait until the 24-25 season. that way he can play 15 mpg for 30 games amongst injury and sign a new big deal

Brilliant! We could probably get 60 games out of him if we got his minutes down to 10 and play him every other game!

Isn't there something about his contract and the amount of games played determining his pay?

My understanding is that Isaac's pay this season got fully guaranteed on 10 January. For 2023/24 he is guaranteed only 7,600,000, but that jumps to 17,400,000 on 10 Jan., 2024. And the Magic is protected from the 2024-25 season, if he gets reinsured before 10 Jan., 2025.

p.s. Isaac is ruled out of the Hornets game.

Harris missed 11 games with the hamstring, and I'm sure Isaac will be the same.

And-1

This places Isaac as returning for the last 5-10 games. And sets him up, now fully management evaluated on court (the purpose of these games being played by him) to be directed to how he should use his gym time in preparation for a good 670 game run next year.

We're 8-3 when Isaac plays. If Isaac plays 70 games next season, we win 50 games.

If the past is any indicator, the front office will likely shut him down for the rest of the season any day now. Would anyone be surprised by that?

There is really no point in playing him the rest of this season. That ship has sailed.

Now, if he doesn’t play next season and has minor concerns, then I’m giving up on him entirely. Magic should not hand him a huge contract to sit on the bench 90% of the time.

The Magic have until 1/10/24 to decide whether or not they want to waive him.
