Paolo Banchero Named to the 2023-2024 Eastern Conference All-Star Team

It's kind of crazy to go back just a few days before the 2022 NBA Draft when legitimately 95% of the people on this board expected Jabari Smith Jr. to be the Magic's pick at No. 1.

Here were are just a year and a half later and Paolo's not just the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, but now an all-star in year 2 averaging 23-7-5 and Jabari is merely a solid stretch 4 averaging 13-8.

I came to post this. And not only that many had to warm up to idea he was even worth the pick.

I made the draft Paolo thread before he was drafted and fought to pick him before Jabari. I knew he was our guy, and honestly. I am just glad the org saw that I did. We badly needed an allstar and you could just tell he was going to be one and right away. He was the player we needed, when we needed it.

Just happy for the fans and the city, not a boasting post. We all have been waiting 10 years to have an allstar again

We had Vuc there for two years but yea Paolo is on another level and the guy turned 21 not long ago.

As another person on there said, he gave Chandler Parson a bloated contract. He doesn't know basketball. If anything, this further cements Paolo as a great player.

Not sure about that, he's just a self-pompous advanced stat nerd who thinks advanced stats will paint the whole picture of a player.

Also before the start if the season, he thought Orlando would be a bottom 3 team in the East, because our shooting was awful.

He wasn't wrong about our shooting, considering we're the worst in the league. But it was pretty clear with how we finished last season that bottom 3 in the East was practically impossible.

Paolo is by far the worst player to make the All-Star game, in either conference. Inefficient volume scorers like him should not be making the team when there is this much talent in the league. I don't care that he was the #1 pick.

Give him the spot if and when he actually deserves it. This is a Wiggins-tier selection.

I read the question as "most recent". As for "quickest": Zion Williamson was an all star in year-2. That's the most recent.

We’ve had a pretty amazing crop of new young guys over the last 6 years. Tatum, SGA, Luka, Trae, Zion, Edwards, Haliburton, Ball to name a few who are all hitting their primes now. Then we’ve got Banchero, Chet and Wemby coming through the last 2 years. The league is brimming with talent right now.

We’ve had a pretty amazing crop of new young guys over the last 6 years. Tatum, SGA, Luka, Trae, Zion, Edwards, Haliburton, Ball to name a few who are all hitting their primes now. Then we’ve got Banchero, Chet and Wemby coming through the last 2 years. The league is brimming with talent right now.

One reality is that this is going to stop being a guards league and start being a forwards league.

Paolo was 4th in the East in PLAYER All-Star voting, Paolo was selected by the COACHES that know these players better then any stat you can pull up. Considering their livelyhood is playing against the guy and game planning for him.

So I guess all the players and coaches are just wrong, because of his EPM/BPM/SPM/PER/STD/PDB/STFU

Magic haven't had one televised game this year. Casuals may not know what's up, but you better believe the league is on notice.

More people talk about allstar snumbs than actually watch nba.

I never watched allstar games nor i will until they fix selection and make game watchable ( or even better- worth playing for something).

It's mockery that .500 team has 2 allstars and 27-19 team with 2 allstar performers has -zero.


Therfore i salute Jokic, best player in a world, for pooping onto that crapshow and scoring like 5 points last time (and scoring like 20 points total over 5,6 selections )

I was confident Paolo would be good. I was very wrong about his ceiling. He has All-NBA potential. He deserves this and is becoming an absolute stud. Now I hope he goes and puts his recruiting shoes on during ASW.

Same, i expected a good player but nothing great like we've been blessed to witness. Last year i was in awe how he could get to the foul line at ease since the year before we were last in that stat i believe.
