I know I’m probably in the minority here, but this rebranding kinda blows. The logo is unimaginative, all the jerseys are flat out ugly too. I was really hoping the Magic would have channeled the ‘97 Tampa Bay Bucs rebranding and go new conceptuals with the logo, along with a new color scheme. Instead we get a more square basketball with stars and retro style uniforms. Epic fail Alex Martins!
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Really like the design. Although I would have included an alternate with the original font.

On the In The Zone podcast, they had on the Magic’s EVP of Marketing. Some interesting tidbits:

They were working on this since 2021! Four years ago!

They had this logo finalized 2 years ago and it takes that long to get it into NBA circulation and prep all the assets.

The idea for the statement jersey (it mimicking the starter jackets) was pitched internally by a guy when they were batting around cool ideas for a city edition and the brand people were like whoa lets hold onto that idea for the rebrand, since they wanted to go old school with everything in the rebrand as much as possible without angering Mitchell and ness.

For all those fans clamoring for a direct return to the old logos and jerseys: Mitchell and Ness own those. The Magic literally can’t use them anymore without paying them so that was never going to happen.

The Magic focus grouped logos for a long time and were shocked more leaks didn’t happen.

The Magic team is very happy with the response so far as it’s been very positive.

Man the uniform in person (seen in pictures only yet) look so so good. I thought last year was the perfect one for the rebranding, 35 years, Paolo and Franz new era. But better later than never.
Finally we can get rid of that former era. Despite the competitive years with Dwight, I still feel it was such a bad one for the magic. From the dwightmare, the paytons, hezonjas, Bamba drafts, oladipo n Harris trades, biyombo signing, pushing ag to become Paul George, all those mid of the standings years, ex, ex. Overall pretty **** times.
Finally they are in the back of our memories. This is a really promising and a fresh start. We are in a good spot, I trust our fo and squad.

Let's go magic!

I already thought all of it was A+ but the more it sinks in, the more I love it even more.

I hope the websites like ESPN use the Primary Icon more than the NBA rules-controlled Global Icon with a seal (the Global Icon looks really perfect on the Court). And I hope the Magic spin off a full black pinstripes jersey in some year soon too 8-)

I love the new jerseys even though the font could be improved. It will take some time to get used to the new logo as I really liked the previous one and we had it for 25 years. I don't like the logo that looks like a deformed Lisa Simpson.

Apparently Dwight Howard knew about these when he was induced into the Magic Hall of Fame!

It’s interesting that Penny, Tracy, and Dwight were all involved, but not Shaq.

I like the statement jersey the most of the 3.
The ‘Orlando’ is way too small on the blue jersey.
I think the spacing between the lettering and the number on the front of the white and also blue jerseys is too close together, the number should be lowered some and I think it would help.
I think the font doesn’t look good (better than what we’ve recently had), the wordmark looks bad by itself on white and grey backgrounds.
The star is a meh for me. I don’t like the elongated crooked approach. Reminds me of the Dallas Stars or bad Orlando Miracle logo.

The logos keep growing on me.
I hate the new secondary logo, huge downgrade there.
I like the new blue color.
I like the primary logo the most. It looks the best with a black background.
The global logo is an NBA requirement, and it looks better the more I see it. I don’t mind it being the court center logo because it reminds me the mid-‘90s black court logo.
I wish the ‘Orlando’ wasn’t so pushed to the right on the global icon when the ‘Magic’ is centered.

Court looks solid overall. Blue pops.
Wish the painted areas were black or at least pinstriped.

Considering Mitchell and Ness owns the original looks and fonts, for this to all be done from scratch it’s overall solid.
The more we lean into the primary logo for usage,
instead of the wordmark, the better.

Nah, basically the exact same height once you take out Franz's hair. I threw it in paint and put a grid line over it and they are eerily similar, lol. This assumes neither is slouching or anything though as well :P

Interesting. I had never heard that. I'm assuming it goes back to a poor decision to allow them to own the copyrights. i'd assume the Magic have tried to buy them back but Mitchell and Ness probably want too much or are unwilling to sell for whatever reason.

Yea I figured these were already out to the organization. I have feeling they took those photos of Franz,Paolo & suggs a while back, not recently. Like some have said I'm just surprised nothing leaked before hand.

I think it is all great except for the main new logo with the black outline. The "Orlando Magic" on it is an OCD person's nightmare. Nothing seems centered and just looks weird.

Wow they sold the rights to the old logos? That seems like a very short term somewhat good, long term very bad move type of situation. As a NBA entity, why would you want to sell your old logo rights?

I get the jersey hype because of the connection to the old Shaq-Penny warmups, but what's to like about the circle logo? Same blue basketball with stars, only now with worse font and an overall cheaper look. There was so much room for creativity with the name "Magic" and this is what they came up with? Like how much time and money went into this process when the end result was the same blue basketball with stars?
