The second tier of the East (slots 4-10) is wide open. WAS & CHI appear to be tapping out. CHA & DET have got to hugely disappointed, but both have enough talent to “click” (like ORL did last year) and turn it around- especially CHA with Miles Bridges on deck.
A couple of subtle lineup or offensive scheme shifts could put ORL into legit home court consideration THIS season. We’ve won a couple, but our offense really is marginal, at best. That has to change or we could easily plummet. Most likely, imo…one trade, not even a blockbuster, for a 2-way backcourt leader like Brogdon (or preferably and less likely, Quickley) changes things. Franz, Paolo, Isaac frontcourt could gel and accelerate if all 3 could be counted on nightly…none have been there every night yet. If Black and/or Suggs have a revelatory offense moment, we could accelerate quickly. I’m down with the defense and buying into avoiding any offense-only guys (for now at least)…Fun time to be a fan.
*also, man is OKC fun…SGA & Chet are stars. Chet has that ferocity, the skill and size are there to support it, but the mindset is his primary asset. This is also why I’m buying on Suggs…he’s got “IT” too and it’s not like his skills are not close to enough. If you can go 5-7 from 3 or score 25 ONCE, then you’ve got it in you to perform regularly, if you’ve got the Mamba Mentality thing. I think Suggs could Pop or Flop at any moment.
