Paolo's shot selection has been... bad. To say a least.
Fadeaway long 2s, FT line stepbacks for no reason, turnaround jumpers form 8 feet while guarded by 5'10 FVV .... Even shots he made, were all mostly bad shots.
Aside from that some decisions that are borderline psychotical
3-2 zone against team that is shooting 50% for a night, on a guy who shoots 36% for a season
Down in 4th we play , i have no clue how it's called in US but "bandage 3-2 zone", basically one guy being targeted (FVV). HOWEVER, Fultz is trying to blitz him at f*** half court, so guy changes direction and has massive missmatch on either Mortiz Wagner or Ingles.
We are still in game, around like 4 min to play, on set where nothing happends, once again we play ultra lazy defense on FVV, where Fultz is dragging his **s instad moving from screen, Wagner is too slow footed to move or recognize anything, and FVV gets FT jumpshot ( as wide as you can get) to pretty much kill a game.
Out of nowhere with Wagner ( 6'11) , Paolo (6'10) , Isaac (7'0 ) in same lineup, we decide to play 2-3 BUT with one big man being on perimeter?! Next thing you know FVV beats Paolo off dribble for and one. Next possession Brooks is fouled, and game is over.
One of most idiotic games we played whole year long from coaching POV.

Also... anyone noticed if we lose a game our GT reach 30+ games but when we win its like only 20 or so?

My guess is that people post more when things are going poorly and there's stuff to complain about than when we're playing well. Not sure what that says about us as human beings.
Other than that, well, this is disappointing.
Glad I didn't stay up. Figured this was at best a 50/50 proposition, probably worse without Franz if we're being honest. Couldn't really tell from just the highlights what went wrong other than FVV raining threes on us.

Definitely have noticed & its because people post more when theres something to complain about. Easy wins dont spark as many 30+ pg threads praising our players on our board
Although I'll say that if a game is against a great team & we win the threads are typically longer/more full of praise
Seems we've reached the point on this board where beating bad teams is expected, which is great to see for our overall team development.

Ugh. Just ruined my morning by watching that.
Gotta fight to the end now, in typical Orlando fashion. Can never do it the easy way.
They should swap the stars in the logo for fans' tears!!
Come on Orlando you crazy masochists! Give us a couple more wins!

Paolo has to be better, i think he knows that....i think part of the issue is he hasn't quite adjusted to how the game is being called rn.....roster construction and lineups are another part of it, this season anytime paolo had any kind of space or a 1 on 1 without a double he's been a nightmare to guard....his touch around the rim isn't as good as you would want for someone that big.....at the end of the day he needs two things imo to make that superstar leap.....improved shooting at all ranges and more explosion around the rim....the shooting speaks for itself, if he improves from just the free throw line it would be great but if he's improved from mid and the three then he has a chance to become a real scorer....work on the legs and add the explosion then a lot of those layups turn into dunks then he becomes sort of like a giannis you can't form a wall against because paolo would be able to pull up....This summer is going to be big time for him, probably the most important

Box score thoughts: conference standings Style.
With this loss, Orlando cannot get to 50 wins.
With this loss, Orlando will finish with a losing road record.
Actual boxscore thought.
The deciding stat was 15-35 compared to 7-24. That is: Houston made 8 more threes, did so in a higher volume of attempts and was much more efficient in those shots (43% to 29%).

Shooting and spacing would fix so many of this teams woes.
Also WCJ has been a nightmare on D, some of the points we gave away down the lane were so weak with the SL
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

That game is on the starters. The bench made a couple of great fightbacks, only for the starters to hand them back.

I mean… people keep saying this but Gary Harris and Carter are on the floor in this screenshot.
Why are they not moving off ball?
Why is Paolo forcing an iso on 5 guys?
Why are plays not being called so this doesn’t happen?
Why is Fultz even in the game with Paolo?
Mosely.

It would've been better to start Caleb. Caleb and Gary should've combined to get at least 10 3 pt attempts.MagicMatic wrote:penny_nz wrote:KillMonger wrote:

Paolo is skilled but not a point guard. He is also not a leader, at least not yet. We need more guys with tough character.
Starting Paolo and Fultz is just silly. I dont know why Mosley is torturing Banchero with "best teammate who is your worst enemy on the floor" Fultz.
Its not that important if we make playoffs or not but its important if we make changes in the offseason.

My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Any of these combinations is better together with Paolo Banchero on the floor. Mosely doesn’t need to play Fultz for 34 minutes in a crucial game deciding the playoff outcome.
Also, Mosely could tell them to run the offense and to stop backing down dudes into tough fadeaway jumpers but he doesn’t. Why do I know this? Because it happened in every quarter of this game and wasn’t effective at any point.

Obviously these kind of screenshots can be taken out of context, but what exactly is Fultz doing there?
If Fultz and his defender are just not there, Paolo could (in theory) hit the opposite corner pass for the open Gary corner 3.
But with Fultz out there it’s literally not possible.

2 things I gather from this game.
WCJ+Fultz doesn't work. I know it is an odd thing to say.
I feel that starting Fultz this game was a big mistake.
Also for no reason whatsoever we couldn't capitalize on them having no interior defense?
I wanted to give you 3 things to gather vs 2. I am all about that bargain.
