Markelle Fultz Updates Thread

So far I am not liking what I am seeing on the offensive end at all. I kind of figured his jump shot was going to be pretty terrible, but i was hoping with his handles, vision, and athletic ability, he could still be very good.

But so far I have seen a player that we wanted to be a scorer, look unwilling or unable to produce offense for himself.

He isn't getting by defenders at all (his first step doesn't look that explosive and he always need a pick), hes not drawing fouls, he can't really create offense 1 on 1 with his handles. His vision is solid and he can push the ball, but things get ugly in the half court. And of course we all know the jump shot issues.

It's just 6 games, and I hope he turns it on when the season starts, but at this point he doesn't look like a player capable of being a consistent scoring threat. If he can't shoot, he has to be able to at least get to the rim, and draw contact.

Is this a real analysis?

The other thing that’s really noticeable to me is something that is tough to really describe. Someone else mentioned Fultz plays like a drunken master and it’s really hilariously accurate.

His handle and change of direction is unorthodox in how herky jerky it is.

Didn't see the game but watching highlights i saw that he made a couple of 3s, but most importantly he was willing to let it fly. Also saw he made some good passes.

How was he though? Highlights only tell part of the story

** I couldn’t watch last night so I’m seeing these Fultz clips for the first time.

Eventually this won’t be a feel good story, #1 overall expectations will return and more of these plays need to connect. We won’t be able to live with “but it looked good!”

Okay. With that out of the way ... HOLY F-ING COW!!! Is it just me or does it already look like Mr. #1 Overall is shaking off more and more rust by the day and will be on full display by the end of the calendar year?

Okay. With that out of the way ... HOLY F-ING COW!!! Is it just me or does it already look like Mr. #1 Overall is shaking off more and more rust by the day and will be on full display by the end of the calendar year?

He looks really good. This is a 21 year old PG (only 3 months older than Trae Young) who already has really good control of pace and two games in is already showing high awareness of player positioning and system design. He can get to any spot he wants and can make passes from everywhere. His midrange game looks solid already (3-6), and is good inside the restricted area (4-6). Last night showed he's not scared of taking 3's which was my biggest worry for him this season...he's now 2-8 from behind the arc. I'm ok with low 3P% this season as long as he takes them confidently - and he did last night.

I think #1 expectations will only arise if people force them there. It's a lot different being on the second team, then the first team that spent a lot of capital to draft him #1 overall. The only thing we don't on him was a late first and his salary. At that price, his expectation is only to be someone worthy of being in the top eight of the rotation. If we get more than that, he turns into a steal for us

I have no interest in Markelle Fultz the rotation guard.

I want #1 overall pick, frequent All-Star and potential Super Star Markelle Fultz. The talent was always there and try as these injuries / time off might, they are failing to hide that talent from us even this early. Eventually it will break through if he stays healthy. I firmly believe that. Stay healthy and we should have our PGOTF. Anything less is a failure.

... but I’m willing to be patient to help avoid injuries.

Update from a Raptors fan: He has the confidence to take four threes in a game and not make it look like an NBA side show. His MR pull up looked natural too. He's every bit as advertised athletically. Congratulations on Fultz!! That guy is going to be really good.
