Re: Around the NBA, 2019/20 Edition
Whole Towns thing is nothing but buzz at this point
But now comes this from Ethan Strauss in The Athletic:
The Warriors have been monitoring Karl-Anthony Towns’ situation in Minnesota. He’s under contract until 2023-24 but has less reason than Antetokounmpo to be thrilled with his team’s trajectory. This was a topic among multiple team executives at the recent G League Showcase, with a few relaying word that Towns is unhappy in Minnesota. The Wolves currently sit at 13th in the Western Conference, two spots ahead of the gap-year Warriors, looking at another lost season. While the Wolves might dream of a scenario where Russell teams up with his good friend Towns, the Warriors have a differing vision of how a trade between the two franchises could shake out.
Here we have some meat. Strauss heard from more than one league source that Towns is unhappy in Minnesota. These sources are not identified, and there are no quotes, but I have no doubt that Strauss is accurately relaying what he heard. So this raises questions:
Is Towns actually unhappy? Certainly rival executives have reason to suggest so as they try to position themselves to acquire stars however possible, and trying to speak unrest into existence is not unheard of. That said, and while I have no inside information, I believe it. The team is regressing, he’s looking at another season without playoffs, the new regime failed to improve things during the summer, and he’s playing with a bunch of one year contract guys and youngsters who do not seem to be getting it.
This is just Warriors manipulating informations by creating buzz and disconnect between KAT and T wolves so he can demand trade or whatever. Ofc in his mind he would prefer to play with Klay and Curry over Culver and Wiggins.
They are grooming him like a pedophile 12 years old boy...

maybe KAT should have bought in more when Jimmy Butler was in town. Jimmy is a winner and KAT could have learned something. and KAT just started his extension, so good luck with trying to get out.

Really, F him.
There are reports that him and wiggins would come at morning training dead tired as they played wideo games every night.
Zero commitment and now he is "unhappy"

Re: Around the NBA, 2019/20 Edition
Perhaps not full blown excited but I’m definitely interested in what Bamba can become. Same goes for Chuma.
Still, anyone with League Pass should be paying attention to the Nuggets. MPjr is starting to play REALLY well. Even in recent games where the numbers aren’t big due to minute restrictions, the way in which he gets the few stats he does is damn impressive.
I pushed hard for taking a chance on him that year. He would have been the true “shoot for the stars despite the risk” draft pick; not Bamba.
Had we taken MPjr as the draft and stash injured rookie forward, then perhaps we do indeed take NAW for raw shooting the year after.

Look at that Atlanta making some moves possibly. If they get Drummond

I think Schlenk's plan was to capitalize on his long leash and continue the tank through this year and perhaps beyond. They played well enough in the second half of last season, but then they dumped Prince, Bazemore, and Dedmon and replaced them with rookies, which is made all the worse by the fact that one of those rookies is Reddish.
Schlenk probably misjudged how losing would affect Young though. Their link to Drummond came out shortly after Young griped publicly about his frustration. Credit to them for listening and addressing the issue, I suppose. I don't know that I'd want to pay Drummond his next contract, but that's a pretty good fit. Drummond would earn them a bunch of extra possessions and Young would get him a lot of easy baskets. It might take some time for Collins and Drummond to figure out how to share the paint at the offensive end though.
"Xatticus has always been, in my humble opinion best poster here. Should write articles or something."

Vince Carter just got his first DNPCD of the season. What is incredible is that if he had played, he would have been the first NBA player to play in 4 differing decades. I realise the game was in doubt, but there wasn't 1 minute of playing time???
Anyhow: Carter gets another chance at home against the Pacers, and maybe the point is to get this done at Home.

That's incredible and I'm almost sure that not playing him was the goal.

Jerry West took his magic touch to the Clippers, so we'll see if the ever get another championship.pepe1991 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Kat unhappy in Minnesota. Now we just need to trade for his buddy DLo and have him force his way here.
I'd actually let them pick anyone on the roster, except for JI and Fultz plus 3 number 1 picks.

He has contract until summer of 2024 with no player's option. He can go and kick rocks, nobody forced him to sign max deal 6 months ago. Twolves won't trade him. And even if they do it will be to instant contender like Davis pushed his way to Lakers and get 10 future non-protected picks and assets for him.
But for time being, there is zero chance he is being traded for next 2 years.
btw his buddy D'Lo is on one of best runned teams in NBA already, that won 3 of last 5 rings, that still has Klay,Curry and Green, maybe he can cry his way there ( almost impossible by salary perspective , thank God). Not to mention economic and geographic adventage or playing in San Franciso... ( Silicon Valley, enough said)

Just want to point out that NAW isn't doing anything for the Pels.
People were so up in arms after summer league thinking he could make a difference for us. We'll see how Okeke pans out.

Have you even looked at that guard depth they have or no? Dude would easily be taking 7th man minutes here from Iwundu and MCW.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

I can't believe how many western conference teams are still in play for that 8th seed. Spurs currently have it with 14-20. A lot of other teams in that area. Gonna make for a good back half of the season if it stays that tight.

NBA at it's worst in MInny Houston game
after 9 min of play time, teams took 14 threes, missed 13. Turned the ball over 9 times and failed to score 15 points each

Well, still, somehow, Rockets scored 139 points in this game.
