What will the 18-year-olds look like in two years?

I'm interested in seeing the development of the young players by the end of the season.

Look at Jalen Duren. He played his college season at 18 and got drafted 13th. In the next 2 or 3 years when they do a re-draft, he'll be a top 5 player.

If Flagler slides to the Magic's SRP slot, he is the sort of player that management likes.

Notably, Orlando will probably need 3rd string depth at the SG slot and Flagler is a player that can play 10 mpg over 20-30 games to provide those scrub and emergency minutes that occur over a season. He certainly is a lot better than any G-leaguer the Magic would normally slot in.

I like him (in the second round). Next to Houstan, the two can be Youtube wonders for made threes in practice.

Spoiler:
Nothing beats this though:

I am sure he will be very good. But the Magic is likely to draft in the 6-10 range and in the 8-12 range.

Without lotto luck, Orlando is almost certain to come out of the draft with at least one SG with those two picks.

I would not be at all surprised if it is Dick (Magic pick) and Miller (Bulls pick) as the draftees, for example.

Scoot kind of reminds me of Barry Sanders in the open field. Then he has huge hands like Vince Carter that allows him to palm the ball like a grapefruit.

Whitmore is probably more of what we need. I think he could definitely play as a big SG. He's 18 until July. He's a star among his age group.

I still think it's questionable because of his age.

can you expand? because i see

Hawkins - 41%fg this year, 38% career. 40% from 3 this year, 37% career
Flagler - 48% fg this year, 44% career. 50% from 3 this year, 40% career.

so how do you see Hawkins better?

i think sometimes people fixate too much on age. it would be different if he was playing bully ball, being a year or 2 older than other players. but he is playing wing, showing shooting skills.

He's a stud. Absolutely in that Ja Morant/pre-ACL Derrick Rose mold. Just an athletic marvel with ball and floor general skills that appear to be developing rapidly.

Through 10 G-League games (he missed 3 weeks after getting hit in the face and breaking his nose).

80/161 FG - 49.7%
10/23 3PT - 43.7%
21/29 FT - 72.4%

20.5 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 3.5 TOV

I'd give both our 23's + Den 25 for him...but I'd prefer some lotto luck

I meant Baba Miller, not Brandon Miller.

Are we sure Scoot is really 18???

Anyway regarding our CHI pick, as much as I love Dick ( big pause ) we have to ask ourselves if he is any different than say Corey Kispert , Kennard , or any 6'8 great college shooter.

Why would you want Dick when you could have Whitmore? Whitmore is Jimmy Butler, he's the same exact size and is very physical.

Either Kispert and Kennard would look perfect in Magic blue. I really, really see a path for Kennard to be here this season, for example.

I'm really intrigued by Whitmore. If he is a star in the Jimmy Butler archetype (I'm still trying to learn what that means exactly but smart people say it a lot it seems lol) that's a perfect fit.

George, Dick or Black based on where the Bulls are slotted for now. I could be totally wrong about the Thompson twins, but they're not the pieces I want for our team right now. We certainly need players with potential, but we also want guys who can fill a role and play within a team.

What makes you believe the Thompsons can neither play a role nor fit in a team? I'm interested in your take. I see practically the opposite when I watch them, but it's all in the eye of the beholder.

I'm skeptical as to whether their league is really helping them develop skills. I see great athletes who can make highlight plays but I'm not sure about winning plays. Obviously they are great athletes and maybe Amen ends up being LaMelo-ish, but I am looking for players with overall skills and not just athletes who make highlight plays. Some drafts they would be a great pick if you were in a top 10, but I think there are better options for us in this draft.

Because Cam shoots 29% from 3 on 4 attempts per game while Dick shoots 47% on 6 attempts per game?

Whitmore had thumb surgery in October so it makes sense that his jump shot is rusty. For sure, he's unlikely to shoot it as well as Dick, and he needs to improve his percentages as the season goes on, BUT he's got the size, power and athleticism that Grady can only dream about.

I'd definitely take Whitmore ahead of Gradey right now.
