Aren't the kings limited in how much they can offer him? Something like 4/$75 mil? I would take him at 4/$85 mil.
How much you giving Suggs and Franz.... Got to negotiate both this summer

D'angelo Russell showing for the 1000th time he just aint cut out to be a starting PG in the playoffs

Hence why I'm not high on him at all for is to sign this offseason

He is 10x better than any of our guards offensively.

The Magic seriously need to do better than Russell, Klay, and Monk. They aren’t going to cut it.

Honestly, I think Monk would be really really good for us.

We don’t have to give up any assets too.

Essentially he will upgrade the team by leading the second unit and finishing the game as shooting guard. He can also provide spacing.

He gives us the scoring boost we badly need.

Anyone else feeling good about the pick swap we made with the Suns for next year?

I think it has a high chance of being a good deal for us to move up a couple spots. They only won 2 more games than us this year. Old Age and western competition can bite then back next year. Plus they tie up more money with Grayson’s extension. At some point Ishbia’s pocket will hurt. Plus inflation is gonna getting higher lol

Thats true but that doesnt take away from my point

That just highlights how poor our guards are offensively

He's shot 38.9% from the field and 32.6% from 3 in his career in the playoffs, not including this game where he shot 6/20 & 1/9 from 3

He aint cut for it, he's better suited as a 6th man

The dude has been on 5 different teams (including the Lakers twice) in the span of 10 years. Many of these teams traded him because he has flaws that can still be seen today. I don’t know why people think Russell will change after all this time. It’s like those waiting for Fultz and AG to be superstars after they have been in the league for 6 years. There is a reason the lakers are pursuing other point guard options. This is just not one game.

Then what about Magic's Guards against Cleveland in Game 1? We gotta let someone go too.

If monk is coming off the bench, fine. Dude is a microwave scorer and nothing more. That is why he has been so successful in Sactown. Cole would have to go in that case which would not be a problem. But the magic would still need a starting guard or point guard.

Its a 2026 pick swap I believe. Which is even better.

I kind of see him as the same archetype as Cole. He's probably a decent option regardless of his playoffs woes. He struggles with expectations, he's not a #1 or #2 option, but could he be a #3? With AB, Jett, and Suggs also vying for the role, we wouldn't even need him to be. He could be our CJ McCollum.

Russell just doesn't play any D and his decision making in the playoffs just isn't very good.

To be honest I don’t see AB, Black, Jett, or Suggs as third options, I see them as role players at most.

I thought it was interesting that Weltman highlighted the teams “top 3” scorers were 22 or younger, which pretty generously lifts Suggs and his 12ppg up into the same conversation as Paolo and Franz. Maybe the franchise considers Suggs to be a larger contributor on that front in the future? He got up 16 attempts today in his first playoff game.

I love Suggs but how? He can do nothing with the ball except straight line drives. He got very limited ball handling and no wiggle in his game + like Franz no midrange at all. He needs to play off a scoring guard & take open shots and attack when teams help off of him.

I hope its politics/semantics becouse if we build a team projecting Suggs as third scorer we have a real problem. As much as i like him he is a defender and streaky shooter. His creation is mostly in transition and straight line drive after a close out. His mind just cant slow down enough to control the situation and manipulate opponents. He can improve but he will never be elite playmaker. Playing alongside someone like Young would be perfect for him.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !
