basketballRob wrote:Black and Nick Smith. Smith just turned 19 and will be one of the youngest players in the draft. He has a great wingspan for a two. In a 2 year re-draft, he's probably in the top 5. Black and Smith both have all-star ceilings.
Brandon Miller and Smith were on the same EYBL team, and Smith was the star.
We would have to move Harris and Fultz to make room for Black and Smith.
https://www.theseasonticket.com/roster_players/43721432
The talent of Smith is undeniable however his injury history is worrying.
Skinny guy with knee braces already at 19.
And you have to find a team who wants Harris and Fultz.

Look at Keynote compared to Anthony Edwards. Keyonte averaged 28.6 MPG to Edwards 33 MPG. Hard to justify saying "his numbers are really bad". He's literally one of the best freshman in this class, Big 12 ROY, and comps well to former #1 pick Anthony Edwards.

Edwards 19.1 PTS | 5.2 TRB | 2.8 AST | 50.2 2P% | 29.1 3P% | 77.0 FT%
Keyonte 15.3 PTS | 4.2 TRB | 2.8 AST | 42.4 2P% | 33.8 3P% | 79.3 FT%

Keyonte 47.0 eFG% | 52.4 TS%

Keyonte 4.1 OBPM | 0.6 DBPM | 4.7 BPM

I'd probably take Whitmore and Wallace if the board played out this way.
Don’t like it. Not buying into the Thompson twins.
I rather take Whitmore, Dick or Hendricks.
I don’t like this draft for us.
You will have to live with it if this is the draft.
You really wasted a second of our lives to tell me this?

I'd probably take Whitmore and Wallace if the board played out this way.
Those are by favourite players right now. Thompson has so many red flags. If he doesnt shoot 34/35% he will be a dissapointment like many athletes before him. I have no idea of the defense and playmaking is real. What a dumb idea with this overtime elite.
At 6 i would pick Whitmore or Hendricks, propably Whitmore. His shooting combined with athletecism gives him safe floor.
George is one of my least favourite players at 11. His numbers are really bad.
You pick Wallace at 11?
Call me crazy but i would choose between Podziemski and Bufkin. Tough choice. Podziemski better fit, Bufkin better potential.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Box Score
Edwards 19.1 PTS | 5.2 TRB | 2.8 AST | 50.2 2P% | 29.1 3P% | 77.0 FT%
Keyonte 15.3 PTS | 4.2 TRB | 2.8 AST | 42.4 2P% | 33.8 3P% | 79.3 FT%
Efficiency
Edwards 47.0 eFG% | 51.7 TS%
Keyonte 47.0 eFG% | 52.4 TS%
Box Score Plus/Minus
Edwards 3.5 OBPM | 0.4 DBPM | 3.9 BPM
Keyonte 4.1 OBPM | 0.6 DBPM | 4.7 BPM
Advanced
Edwards 28.8 USG% | 2.4 ORB% | 14.5 DRB% | 17.9 AST% | 1.6 BLK% | 2.3 STL% | 33.8 FTR
Keyonte 29.8 USG% | 4.2 ORB% | 13.6 DRB% | 20.0 AST% | 0.7 BLK% | 2.3 STL% | 36.4 FTR
Edwards 50% from 2 and elite athlete
Keyonte 42% from 2 and below average athlete (maybe improved to average ?)
Thos are drastcially defferent stats and projections, DRASTICALLY.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Ok, sure. Ant Man went #1 and is a projected All NBA first team SG. But you said that Keyonte's stats are "REALLY BAD" and its really laser focused on his lesser athleticism and poor efficiency inside the arc. If you are still comfortable saying his stats are really bad then more power to you.

I totally understand the appeal with both.
They are my dark horses for 11.
Both are very fundamental and skilled.

This is a place to speculate and talk casually about the team. There’s no need for you to parent it. I’m a grown man who knows what to accept and not to accept.

I get that George is one of your guys and I respect what you're trying to do here.
But I think it makes more sense to look at why these numbers were what they were versus just citing what they were.
Edwards' efficiency numbers were low because he took a lot of bad shots.
George's efficiency numbers were low because he couldn't get to better shots.
Edwards' problem was much more style of play based than any sort of physical limitation. He was an excellent finisher in college and is obviously an athletic freak. He just had a really bad shot selection and ended up settled for a ton of jumpers when he could have been driving to the basket more often. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little of a self preservation at play with Edwards too. He knew his team stunk and he knew he was certainly earmarked to be a top 3 pick, so why run the risk of a blown out knee on a collision at the rim in what amounted to a meaningless unpaid year for him?
George, on the other hand, took a lot of jumpers because he didn't show enough explosiveness to consistently beat defenders off the dribble or finish over length when he got there.
Similar numbers, but vastly different paths to how they got there.
