Renounce Harris/Wagner/Joseph/Houstan

$175M (11 players) + $16.5M for NAW = 191.5M

That leave Orlando roughly $4.4M to sign rookies, vet min., Mo?

I think we would be hard capped and wouldn’t be able to retain Wagner using bird rights.

I think the allure of trading for him this season was that we were probably moving Cole as well.

Not sure Orlando can afford him with all things considered

I think we can go over the tax threshold using exceptions after we sign an MLE player. I'm not sure about Mo.

If he gets the full 16 that’s a solid deal as well. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. Things would have to work out perfectly for it to be in Orlando and well yeah that doesn’t seem to happen.
It's starts at $14.1m this season.

It's possible they trade Black for NAW. I hope they keep Black, but you never know.

while not a giant believer in what Black can develop into, this would be a short sighted move. NAW is Just Another Guy. rather keep Black as a defensive specialist and improving catch and shoot 3 pt shooter.

I think Black will eventually be more efficient than NAW on offense, but it could take a couple of more seasons. You just never know with Weltman. He may still be upset over the jersey swap.

In a perfect offseason you’ve got Simons Suggs Black NAW as your guard rotation with a vet min like CoJo.

Ideally, we'd trade Cole for NAW.

Why on earth would we do that? We are losing a ton of value.

Tweet says 66 M over 4 years, so definitely more than 12M per year

Meant 14 mil.

4 for 66 is $16.5 mil. per. Over 4 years, that comes out to about a little over the MLE during that contract’s span. He will get the MLE offered by multiple teams.

I am not willing to easily include Black or Tristan in trade talks. Those are core pieces.

Using the full MLE would hard cap the Magic at the first tax apron which is $195.9M.

So...

Decline Moritz, Gary, CoJo takes them from $199.3M to $177.3M

Signing NAW for the full $14.1 MLE brings them back up to $191.4 leaving them only $4.5M in available funds below the hard cap.

So long story short, whatever trade they decide to make for whatever guard, they're *very likely* going to be looking to send out more money than they take back in the deal. Which means they'll probably be sweetening it with additional draft picks.

Something like... KCP (21.6), Cole (13.1) and Jett (5.5) for Poole (31.8) would save the Magic $8.4M for 25-26 and put them $12.9M below the hard cap. That's enough to sign both first round picks (if they were to keep both picks) and a veteran minimum to round out the roster.

Or something like... KCP (21.6), Cole (13.1) and the 25th pick for Simons (27.6). That would shed $7.1M plus the $2.5M GTD for the 25th pick putting the Magic about $14.1M below the hard cap. That would probably allow them to make the 16th pick, resign Moe and also sign a veteran minimum.

I hope it doesn't happen but you never know with our front office. Black wasn't at the branding and was last seen in Minneapolis.

Then I don’t think you get much done. I don’t see Cole and or KCP really having a ton of value.

They don't. The Magic's value proposition in any trades are draft picks.

I won’t disagree but I think we’re going to have let go of that 16th pick.

I’m saying this because I don’t want Poole or CJ. Might be able to get Simons without the 16. Maybe…Anyone else you’ll probably have to use the 16th pick.

Step 1 - Decline Moritz, Gary and CoJo
Step 2 - Trade KCP, Cole, 16 (begrudgingly) and 57 for Simons
Step 3 - Sign NAW for full MLE
Step 4 - Draft Walter Clayton Jr. at 25 and Amari Williams at 46
Step 5 - Resign Moe (less than he makes now)

New roster

G: Suggs, Black, Clayton
G: Simons, Alexander-Walker, Howard
F: F. Wagner, Houstan, da Silva
F: Banchero, Isaac
C: Carter, Bitadze, Williams

Rehabbing: M. Wagner

Thoughts?
