The game was lost when Skiles sat EP for 7 minutes of the 2nd quarter and we went to our slow crappy motion offense. We couldn't break out of it from there.

EP got back in and was ineffective.

This was a beyond pathetic peformance. I'm at the point where I think that this team won't accomplish anything with Vucevic as their center. Absolute black hole on defense and kills the offense with his constant iso's and mid-ranges. Also it seems he had a tunnel vision last couple of games. Finally I was wrong for advocating for Fournier over Dipo. Dipo actually doesn't play for his stats and manages to make an impact even when his shot's not falling. Not to mention how ball-movement is much better with him.

Vooch should be getting twice as much as **** for his defense than Mario from Skiles. Did Skiles ever openly criticize him for it? Seems like he's only interested in holding Mario accountable, but when guys like Fournier and Vucevic are rubbish on defense, it gets swept under the rug.

I am behind disgusted with Vooch`s defense. He is so soft and doesn`t even look like trying for most of the time. I don`t think we can build winning team with him at C position, even with all of his offensive skills. He is our version of Enes Kanter, putting up empty stats.

people being surprised about vuc's defense is comical considering it's pretty much been that way since day 1......he's not dwight howard in disguise

It's clear that Skiles doesn't run a system that gets the most out of Elf. And given that we're a losing team, it's a fair question to ask who exactly we are getting the most out of?

Payton looked good? He was ok in the first half, but maybe you and I saw two different games.

Within the first two minutes of the second half:

• EP starts of the half by pounding the ball near the mid court line for most of the shot clock - with his defender standing a good 15 feet away, then screws up the screen and dumps the ball to Vuc who is forced to launch an off balance long two - that is partially blocked.
• Next possession he gets called for traveling after dribbling himself into the corner off an inbound pass
• He then bricked a long two with 20 seconds on the shot clock
• Next possession he makes a line drive kamikaze dive straight into 3 defenders - and would you believe it - he missed badly
• He then stole a mid court pass, but decided to go 1-1 vs Chandler (with a wide open Hezonja trailing him) and again missed badly
• He then makes lazy long pass over the mid court line that Price steals and takes for a dunk.

Skiles is forced to call a time out...the single digit lead has at this point ballooned to 17 within 2 minutes of the 2nd Half. The tempo and double digit lead was never lost by the Suns after that.

But its Skiles' script?

The lovers and haters of Skiles are almost funny.
Yes, the execution was poor from the players (some more than others), but the sequence you describe comes after halftime where it's the coaching staff job to put the players in the position to execute plays correctly. Yes, EP dumped a big one starting the third, and yes it's also on Skiles and his coaching staff to have players execute so poorly. Training sessions happen for a reason, drawing and calling the correct plays at the right time is also the coach job. You are telling me that EP made all those stupid drives, taking those ill advised shots and those minutes where Phoenix trounced us and grew the lead to 20 were none of Skiles fault? Honestly?

But yeah, keep licking his balls because all fault of this ridiculous January/February is due to the roster having the worst players of the league.

Hell, by your posts if it wasn't Skiles those guys wouldn't even be d-leaguers! Skiles and his "take all 5 out" messages are flawless on the process.

Yesterday Skilled was really bad, Vuc had his worst game on a Magic uniform, Payton was good on the first half and bad on the second, Evan was horrible. Lots of blame to throw around and contrary to what Skiles lovers might think: it's his fault too.

Skiles shouldn't bench all starters in 3Q
He should leave ag and hezonja in
We didn't score for 6,5 minutes but those 2 guys didn't play bad

He probably had as many good moments as bad moments in the 2nd half. But the question is why? To me it looked like we slowed the pace way down and went to our force feed Vuc and Fournier game.

Vuc has more aggresive haters than Elf does, you can see it in this thread. . . It's not close.

Some of the same people that said Elf had the most aggressive haters are attacking Vuc viciously right here. I especially love all the "he's lazy" comments, that literally describes Elf about 75% of games this year, he has no motor anymore for whatever reason. I don't care about the excuses I know I'm gonna hear about Skiles this, or Skiles that, he needs to give a damn or this team has no chance.

The only two players that I know are gonna come out with fire and energy EVERY SINGLE GAME are VO and AG, that's it! Now, they both make mistakes at times (especially VO), but I know I can count on them to play with energy, with heart, with some damn guts! Those two have hearts of lions!

The rest of this team deserves blame all around (to a lesser extent Mario since he's a rookie), yes even Elf deserves criticism. Our team is under 500. and it's not because of just Vuc, or Evan, or Payton, or even Skiles, it's because of all of them. I'm tired of hearing people get sensitive when their favorite player, whoever it is, gets criticized for one reason or another. I'm all for debating why you think someone is wrong, but the hypocrisy of saying one player shouldn't get criticized then turning around and criticizing another player for the same reasons is getting ridiculous.

You're right, Harris would've lead us to the promise land!

Not sure why people are overrating Harris now all of a sudden.

I didn't watch the game, but I usually agree with this. I'm all for the pulling a player out of the game if he makes mistakes thing, but I don't understand punishing someone that's playing well, it sends the wrong message, imo. I'm a guy that likes Skiles for the record, just never understood pulling all the players out.

Biggest problem with Skiles patented "pull all 5 players" method is that it always fails. He pulls them for 3-4 minutes, backups suck and get destroyed 9 times out of 10, and then he brings all 5 or at least 4 guys that he pulled back. It's a stupid idea and does not work. What's the point in pulling someone to make a point if you have to get him back few minutes later.

Another terrible game,another lowest point.
Until next one.

How many more games/years we need to realize this post-dwight era has been a complete failure?
We are becoming a joke as a franchise, ownership has to do something next summer and stop this endless pain.

We have to start looking at the bigger picture. In last 5 years no other team had significant success with a center who is such a liability on defense as Vooch. I'm really not sure if Vucevic has a future on this team tbh.

Oh, come on! You really want to turn the thread into a Vuc haters Vs Payton haters thread for some reason? Vuc is simply getting criticised after a HORRIBLE game. This is his 5th season in the league. He's played crappy defense for (i'll be generous) 75% of the time he's played on this team. Cry me a river.

And as usual Skiles takes zero blame. Of course everything again just comes down to "effort". Of course it couldn't have anything to do with any of Skiles schemes, strategy or decision making. Those are perfect.

At least Vooch took some blame on himself.

How I basically feel at this point. That Phoenix Suns roster is absolutely awful. Got a buddy of mine who's a diehard Suns fan actually pissed at me that the Magic got destroyed like they did lol.

This loss is absolutely on par with the Philly one. Hell it might be worse.

Return to Orlando Magic
