Yeah but none of that is going to show in SL lol.. IMO we have our two in Paolo/Franz and most likely the third would come from a trade if possible - I'll be very happy if Black comes a decent-shooting connector piece and Jett becomes a 3 point specialist.

These kids haven't even gone through a training camp, yet a season and we got people asking..."is this the best use of a lottery pick?" people just aren't patient anymore, they are knee jerk to everything and expect prospects to be as good as they're ever going to be from day 1....I don't think people realize how rare it is for good players or even great players to be good from the very beginning....Not everyone is like lebron or Dame where they are very good from day 1.....you're going to have your jimmy butlers...your pascal siakams....Khris Middletons.....players that will take years of development and work before they ascend to a high level if they ever get there....hate is a strong word but i hate posters with mentalities like these, like bro....relax and let time do it's thing

There was once a Magic lottery pick that had 40 DNP-CDs his rookie year, on 6/1/1 stat line. Year two he was at 48 DNP-CDs on a 4/0/1 stat line. Year three saw 64 games played! on a 6/1/2 stat line. All that was expected given who this player was and the skills needed to be effective.

From year 4, Jonathan Clay followed this with a 4-year run where he was a major rotational player (and played another 7 years for other teams). This is the trajectory imagined for Black: year 4 he will be an important Magician. Howard should actually be more of a rotational player sooner; say by year three (or mid-next season).

Orlando's two rookies could get less minutes played this year than one of the G-leaguers. That should be the fan expectation this season.

0% chance it was intentional. He was trying a behind the back pass, ended up sending it back to himself and then - very quick-mindedly - flicked it forward.

Cool play, but not what he wanted to do.

My take on Anthony Black and Jett Howard is based less on how they looked in summer league, and more on how the roster is currently constructed. The Magic now have 6 guards, 4 on rookie contracts, all battling for playing time. Not one of them is even close to being an all-star. So what is the plan?

Savvy GM's trade assets when they have value. It's the only way to get something in return. There is risk in it -- what if Player X blows up on his next team -- but with no risk comes no reward.

Suggs and Fultz may have some value right now, but if you wait until they get hurt again this season, which they probably will, then you missed your chance.

Cole might have more value than we think. He improved a lot last season and could be due for a breakout year.

And yes, if someone likes Anthony Black, and is willing to give us something good in return, why not? There is no rule that says we have to wait and see what every prospect will eventually become before making a decision on them. They mystery is part of the perceived value. And then if Anthony Black becomes Elfrid Payton Part 2, then you made a good decision.

Look: if Fultz and Suggs do look to be in good form, yes the Magic should seriously consider trading Black RIGHT NOW.

To me ... there is no need to be hasty unless there is something you do need or want and he is needed to make the trade work. If Suggs and Fultz are working great... they decide to re-up on Fultz for a few more years with an extension... sweet. Black and Howard contracts are locked for the next 4 years at cost-controlled values... and they can continue to grow and add depth. Their growth will be noticeable to management and will still show on the court. If they continue to grow in the background and it is obvious that they are worthy of the extra time... then you start looking at your cards and find out how to reshuffle for positions of need and future assets in order to help keep these sheets balanced in the future. I have high hopes for all 4 of those guys and can see the value that could potentially provide. Players like brown getting $300 million contracts... and taking up large chunks of the salary cap... you better know how to make everything else around your main characters balance out

How do you even build a team around that kind of contract?

Once needed two all stars at least. Now it seems you can only have one?

I just don't get scale of contracts. It work against teams and make winning impossible to sustian.
Maybe "parity" for them is to have every team building something for 3,4 years , compete for title for 2 years than rebuild again? I don't know, but current salaries are unsustainable for current cap space.

You take up 35% of the salary cap... and then go... "I NEED HELP"? lmao

If someone is legit about winning they will find a happy grey area and not the max just cuz they could. if you are single handedly winning the majority of games... then shoot... i get it. But good to pretty damn good players who can be replaced in some way shape or form... should not be eating up that kind of space.
