I dig it. I would like Harris gone.

Harris as your 3rd SG on hte VEt min is not bad

If your starting backcourt is still KCP/Suggs...then it's just not much of a jump.

Suggs is staying in my estimation and KCP may be hard to move. This seems like a distinct possibility.

I like KCP more than others on this board do and I don't necessarily think the Magic are dying to get rid of him.

But the more I look at it, the more difficult to seems to be to put together a trade without his salary in the deal.

And with the continued rumors from Stein and Fischer that the Magic are interested in NAW for the midlevel, that feels more to be as a KCP replacement rather than just another 3&D guy to add to the mix on a team with limited shot creation from the guard spots.

KCP wont be on this team past his contract. He was a failed experiment. He can still be a rotation and valuable player in a playoff team. Jeff miscalculated. He is just not a good fit on this current roster. If we are going to upgrade our backcourt some of these guys being mentioned, then his salary is the first one we use to match.

One of KCP/Isaac won’t be here next year, feels pretty much a guarantee.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

Would any of you be interested in getting in on the rumored Durant to spurs trade and make it a 4 teamer with the hawks.

Spurs get Durant

Suns get Suggs, Barnes and 14th pick.

Hawks get Devin vassel, Cole, Sochan, 25th pick.

Magic get Trae.

I am not the biggest Trae fan but he would really give us that playmaking we have been searching for forever. Plus we have an elite defense behind him to cover up some of his warts. I love Suggs but it’s hard to pay him that much money and not be able to count on him to be healthy enough when we need him. Plus sending him out West means we don’t have to see him but a couple of times a year.
Thoughts?

dont want Trae. his contract is a killer and he will get demolished on defense in playoffs. yes, he is a great passer, but thinks he is the 2nd coming of Curry and will shoot his team out of games almost as many times as he shoots them in

That trade makes no sense for Suns.

In that scenario they would end up with Suggs, Booker, Beal and Allen at PG/SG + they have Dunn who is also SG/SF.

Basically their entire roster would be shooting guards.

Hard to be ambitious and stay under the 1st apron.

So don't!

I will package Black, Jett, KCP instead of Suggs

The trade can be modified as:

Spurs get Durant

Suns get Black, KCP, Barnes, 16th pick.

Hawks get Devin vassel, Cole, Sochan, Jett, 14th pick, orl 27 FRPs.

Magic get Trae.

Trae / WCJ(#25)
Suggs / NAW (MLE) / Houstan
Franz / TDS / #46
Paolo / Isaac / MoW
WCJ / Goga / MoW

The 1st trade was interesting but could be improved on

16 for #19 + #26

In: Murphy
Out: AB + #26 + goga+ 2026 FRP + 2027 SRP+ Harris

In: sexton (agrees to extend for 17M per)
Out: Cole+ #25 + Jett

#19 draft Raynaud
Cojo vet min
Houstan opt in

Use our SRPs to get one of the Lanier or Brea

Suggs, Sexton ,cojo
Murphy, KCP , lanier/brea
Franz, Murphy, TDS
Paolo,ji, Moe , Houstan
WCJ, Moe, Raynaud
I love the Sexton trade. I don't think Murphy is the right all-in target—wrong position and injury prone. Also, spending an all-star package on a non-allstar is risky in general.

I think Murphy is a very good fit, he is locked on a great contract, he is a very gifted offensive 3&D player (like a premium version of KCP).

Then you have legit 3pt players coming off your bench, everyone on this team can hit the 3

With the New CBA, the goal is to have your core players locked on decent contract and take care of the rest of your roster with Vet min + rookies

If we go down that road, a few more moves would need to be done to stay away from the 2nd apron but it can be done

Core players:
suggs,murphy,franz,paolo,wcj,sexton that s your 6 players

Then you fill the rest with cheap contracts Cojo+harris (min vet) , TDS,raynaud, Houstan, lanier (young players)

And you have to draft well for years to come

Ouch. This might put a lil damper on their offseason plans!

Well: it would make his acquisition "cheaper", in the meaning of less assets traded.

But, Garland's 15% trade-kicker makes him a max-level salary. I cannot see that being acceptable to the moneybag accountants. Garland at 50M a year (a salary line Orlando would be paying him in 27.28) is unfathomable to me.

Yeah, too expensive, we need to find a premium core player that doesnt get premium money, this is why i like Trey murphy , there are not many 20+ points per game players that make less than 25M and are locked for many years

And again Suns get guard they don't need (KCP)

They would probably rather have Carter /Isaac (both ?) + Black+ 14 or 16 pick than another SG.

Same...the only way NAW makes any sense at all for ORL is as a less expensive KCP, just adding NAW to the pile would be crazy. I also think KCP is a good player, just a bad investment for ORL...KCP goes out in a trade for an offensive guard and NAW jumps into the significant backup role that KCP is overpaid to accept.

I agree, but they can make more substantial moves than you've predicted without going into the 1st or 2nd apron.

I hope so but have not seen a single proposal on this board that achieved it, thankfully Jeff is better than us :-)

You do realize you can’t call “Jeff” “Jett” when the Magic already have another “Jett” involved in the organization, right?
