Smart man.

I give you (3) reasons why not to take Rudy Gay.

12/13: $16,460,532

13/14: $17,888,932

14/15: $19,317,326 (FYI: This is guaranteed)

Dude is not worth superstar money. I would rather take a flyer on Ellis at $12 mil per or Josh Smith.

He is good, but not a superstar. Don't you guys think we should have learned our lesson after Lewis and Hedo already? Only if packaged with Hedo and another player JRich, Duhon or Ryno maybe.

Well, that actually closes this argument as far as I'm concerned. He's good but he's not 19 million dollars good. On to the next one.

Big difference with Lewis&Hedo .. Gay's only 25 yrs old & will still be in his prime when his contract expires ..

Gay is overpaid, but that's not the argument... Posters are stating Ryan is the better player....lol

I would consider Hedo, Ryno and this years 1st for Gay. But, it would be a tough choice. Dwight would have to resign first.

That's good value for both sides. I think a new coach and a legit number 2 would entice Dwight to stay, and if not then he's a spoiled brat. Rudy would thrive as a second option as I feel it's a more suitable role with his skillset.

The reason I think Memphis would consider this trade is because Hedo only has one year left before he can be cut and only cost $6 mil against the cap summer of 2013. Thus, at least they get a starting SF in the meantime who, as a Euro player, work well with Gasol. Then, they have Ryno that can effectively backup Gasol or Randolph giving them a break since they are about to lose Speights. Plus, a draft pick that will fill out the bench.

Magic would have to convince Dwight to resign first. Even during the summer of 2013, the Magic could possibly have up to $10 mil to spend on a PG to complement Dwight/Gay.

So Ryan impacts the game MORE than D12?

Wait, I'm coming in late here, but are people seriously debating if Rudy Gay is better than Anderson?

Yes mattyboi that is the argument. Also debating whether Rudy is worth his contract or not which is pretty ugly

davis deserves to start for us next season. i want my power forward to defend and play tough playoff basketball against west kg bosh haslem boozer and taj. earl clark will do fine as a backup pf.

also Rudy Gay is very overated. i would prefer to draft a rookie SF and persue ellis via trade or free agency. ellis is a primetime performer, gay not so much.

Actually, this is a factor of two things. Dwight playing huge minutes, and the bad backup corollary. We can't forget how bad Glen Davis was for most of this year, and we also can't forget that he is not a good fit next to Dwight (not trying to start another fight, but it really never worked). People should look at the Ryan Anderson number as not just us being good with him on the floor, but as us being worse in the minutes where Big Baby is on the floor. This is also why Jameer's +/- is so great. Duhon and Davis were two of the worst rotation players in the league last year.
