I wouldnt worry about Cole’s defense. The guy competes and has a high motor. I think that’s all you can ask for now as his body continues to fill.

In the past This board was adamant that defense wasn’t that important when it came to PGs. Cole is going to be fine.

I think you cant die on switches and need to play good pick and roll defense. Cole can do both in time imo. Quite strong frame for a guard
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

i'm still not seeing the overtly bad decisions some of you said he would be making on the regular....i think he has a good feel for the game so he'll be fine....interesting though listening to the latest interview from him was anybody aware he was recovering from an ankle sprain? i heard that i was like did i miss something? there was nothing reported about cole having a mild injury

Didn't hear about it but there were some concerns in his UNC days that he got injured a lot so I assumed it was that?

Anthony plays with tremendous energy. Sometimes he gets beat defensively. Sometimes he misses passes you'd like to see him make.

But he NEVER dogs it from an effort perspective.

Sounds like baby Westbrook! That kind of attitude is infectious too.

I hope Cole's motor rubs off on Bamba when he comes back.

I really enjoy Cole Anthony's moxie. His competitiveness, energy, and relentless effort is really refreshing. You can tell he has an internal struggle at times to reel himself in and not shoot every time down, but he's doing a relatively good job of picking his spots. At times it gets him in trouble and he'll find himself commit a live ball turnover or force a bad jumper. But, you can live with that because he'll either crash the boards or get to the line. He just keeps making plays and doesn't get down on himself. He's like a second MCW. I think he's a good shooter and can get to the basket. He has a lot of good attributes to be a good NBA player. And he's coachable. It's up to the Magic to develop him well from here.

Who leads the Magic in assists per game during this short 3-0 season?

Cole Anthony leads the team with 14 assists. He's also played 55 minutes compared to 89 for Fultz who has 13 assists.

To be fair, Anthony has absolutely benefited from the tremendously hot start by Terrence Ross as 8 of his 14 assists have come on Ross jumpers.

Bingo.

While that is true about benefiting from Ross’ hot start, I do also take note of Cole’s fantastic assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.7 per game and a PER of 20.40.

Not bad at all for a rookie any way you slice it.

Let’s see how those numbers scale with more games played.

cole’s game really fills up the stat sheet. Not surprised he is getting good advanced stats.

He is a strong rebounder for a guard. And he competes.

This relationship is the one thing i can't wait to see in the second unit. if it works out the way i imagine it.. :-D

Needless to say through the first few games... he hasn't been efficient scoring the ball... but 4.7 rebound and 4.7 asst in 18 minutes is impressive. and the asst actually leads the team. Keep it up young fella!

Yeah that's a good way to describe it. I like his moxie. He feels and plays like he belongs and he's been an asset so far.

Loving that our wins so far have been mostly due to the guard play and not because of Vucevic.
