I think Da Silva can contribute right away but minutes also can be hard to come by on this team.

To be fair this is the one year trading our 2nd makes sense. I don't think there are many stashes and I'd rather fill in our roster holes with free agents.

Shannon Jr is gonna make this whole draft eat crow

After watching film on Tristan, I can confidently say that we would have taken him even if Knecht was still on the board

Why not take a chance on a guy who performed at TTech and Illinois while fighting a fake ass accusation?

Orlando is too pedestrian for that.

Some team will do it and boy. Can’t wait to see what happens

I agree. I suspect he was pretty high on our board.

Chuma's career is over and it seems like Houstan has also been put on notice.

He is more a Chuma/ Ingles replacement.

I don’t think Caleb is out.

I don’t think Caleb is out… yet. But he needs to make some pretty big strides to stick around long term.

Sounds like a guy who knows how to break down film or just reads tabloids

I stand by what I said.

I'm not saying Da Silva can't bust. Of course he can bust. Anyone can bust.

What I'm saying is that as a decision maker, Weltman loses the benefit of a long leash if he picks an older and lower upside player and they're still not ready to contribute right away.

If Da Silva isn't good enough or ready to crack this year's rotation, he was the wrong pick.

I’m just going off how they’ve been managing guys recently. If we bring back an equally deep team next season, he could have guys in front of him. At that point he could be a great luxury as a 3rd string/G-league call up who’s ready to go. That doesn’t inherently make him the wrong pick or a bad pick, it just means he was drafted into unfortunate circumstances for him.

But what else are they supposed to do, not draft the guy who ticks all the boxes for what they’re looking to add?

I mean they couldn’t wait to get the pick in to the podium, the broadcast crew totally caught off guard with how fast that pick was in

I HATE trading 2nds but yeah, this probably would be the right year to do it

Yeah... seems that we were picking Silva even if higher mocked guys were available.

YES IT DOES! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here

If a player gets picked who likely has minimal upside and a huge part of that's appeal as a draft prospect is his ability to step in from day one and contribute, and he doesn't get playing time because of "unfortunate circumstances" - it was the wrong pick!

Agreed.

If they aren’t sold on his ability to come in and start as a guy already older than Franz, then they should have taken someone with upside that they can hide and develop (Jett Howard). If Tristan isn’t getting legitimate minutes next season it was a bad pick.

It’s definitely asking too much for Orlando to move up for Baylor Scheireman ant some point in the draft isn’t it?

How do we pair Lauri Markk with Franz and Paolo?

I'm a fan of him too.

He was just below Da Silva on my Board.
