LA out Bynum, Gasol, Ebanks, 2012 Dal and LA 1st = 34,602,221
Orlando out D12, Turk, Duhon, Anderson = 34,403,022

Why for LA- They pay a huge price, but D12 is the one player in the NBA head and shoulders above the rest at his position. LA is also able to give that much and still build a champion. Anderson is a nice player that can fill in nicely and spread the floor for D12 and Kobe.

Why for Orl- You get Bynum and Gasol who can either keep you in the hunt or be sent to additional team in the trade for more picks and Cap room (look at the price Houston was willing to pay). 2 First rounders are late picks, but in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory. Most of all you eleminate the last of your negative value contracts in Duhon and Turk. People wont want to give up Anderson but we have BBD, Harper, and Clark probably coming back. Without Anderson I dont think LA adds the picks.

More teams can get into it and save us money and gain picks. Maybe Include Rokets, but send Scola to Indiana type deal.

If we got Bynum, Gasol, 2 1st rounders, and a scrub I'd be ecstatic.

I would imagine so. They won't be finalized until the weekdays, but they can be announced.

Why would Dwight say "players have asked to get traded and didn't".. He's talking about Kobe.. He's saying fix this team and I'll stay. That's the only reasoning that makes sense.

As far as Vince was concerned Otis must of had a brain fart....From what other posters told me Vince wanted to come here when he was 28(when he was still a good player) But Otis called him get this "Fools Gold" Really Otis then what was he when we got him at 32? Fool's Silver??

I think you and I are the only ones here that take this side. I will say it again for those who haven't yet, go read the interview between Kobe and ESPN when he demanded the trade in 2007. I almost think Dwight read it before he did his interview, it's like identical.

If Orlando has to trade Howard the only shot they have at getting back to the finals is building through the draft, dumping their awful supporting cast, and trying to lure free agents. They gotta go the OKC or San Antonio route......not trade for 2 pretty good players who arent enough to win with in the East. Sorry but I cannot get excited about a team that has zero shot of getting to the ECF.

There would be nothing wrong with waiting awhile but those of you who think Dwight continuing to play for us is going to make his mind change are kidding yourself. Its been announced that Dwight requested TWICE to leave. You can't tell that to fans and then take the court like nothing happened. Things will be said and things will happen almost everytime he is out there (and they would be perfectly in order if not violent or illegal) . None of which would make anyone want to stay.

Magic obviously saw something in J-Rich. While he's no Kobe, he's gonna have to be our Kobe. Lakers won a lot of games because their twin tower lineup, they won a lot because of Kobe too, but Bynum/Gasol is a handful for any team to handle. If you get some slashers and scoring to surround them, we might not be that bad.

Kinda like when he told Rich Cho that he "dodged a bullet" when he didn't sign Hedo to that ridiculous contract........and then turned around and traded for him a year later?

Rudolph is right, Devos needs to sit him down immediately and make him explain the ridiculous moves he has been making. And if the explanation isn't good enough, he needs to be let go.

From ESPN News Services:

The story lines that have engulfed the Los Angeles Lakers in the last week hit a crescendo Wednesday when Kobe Bryant said he would welcome a trade.

"I would like to be traded, yeah," Bryant said on 1050 ESPN Radio in New York. "Tough as it is to come to that conclusion there's no other alternative, you know?"

Bryant, interviewed by Stephen A. Smith, was asked if there was anything the Lakers could do to change his mind?

"No," Bryant said. "I just want them to do the right thing."

(You can listen to the whole thing. He leaves little doubt. He says he wants to be traded both because he has been lied to and because he isn't confident in their ability to surround him with appropriate talent.)

At the end of the show, Stephen A. Smith asks: "Is there ANYTHING the Los Angeles Lakers can do to get you to remain with the organization?"

And Bryant responds: "No, bro."

Wow, OK. Is this really going to happen?

How'd Kobe do after that interview? Has LA forgiven him yet? Cue someone coming in a posting that Stern giften them Gasol after this interview.

Otis Smith is like a slightly better version of Isiah Thomas. That guy, as a GM of the NYK, also spent crazy amounts of money but did not get it done. And he did not have a guy of Howard's caliber on the team to bail him out. If I remember correctly, nobody gave him a pass for "trying". Every GM can spend huge amounts of money to acquire players if you get the green light to do it. But it's not about how much you spend, it's about how you spend it. That's were Otis failed, just like Thomas did.

I dont disagree, they will be pretty good. But the goal is not the be pretty good. And they will never be more then pretty good. Especially with Miami, Chicago, Boston, and NY in the East. I say you fire Otis and try to keep Dwight. But IF you have to trade D12 then you do not do it for players who just make you pretty good. You rebuild. :vent:

That's true, but the odds of a trade happening as lopsided as it took to get Gasol as very slim.

Trading Jameer for Paul would be returning more value to the Hornets than the Grizz got.

People bend over to help the Lakers (as seen by the Chris Paul trade that almost went down), no one is going to want to help us when they all want what we have.

So we'd have to go up against Chandler/Stoudamire, Boozer/Noah, West/KG, and ?/Bosh. We'd win all those matchups with Gasol/Bynum.

Agreed. Draft picks, cap space, and young players.

I know this board seems to hate Rudolph, but he is making a lot of good points on ESPN 1040.

Did i say keep them both? AM TALKING ABOUT VALUE! That's the best value you can get for Howard and not have him in the same conference. Some of you people are so short sighted it's freaking unbelievable. "Smart" people like you would send Dwight to team up with Boozer and Rose and form another god damn big three in your conference to go along with Miami, Boston and New York? USE YOUR BRAIN MAN! We CANNOT trade Dwight to Chicago. It makes no sense.
