It looks bad if you are pretending to be a big supporter of a team and yet walk out the door the moment they lose or when the novelty has worn off. But RvM never lied about being a Vince Carter fan anyway.

Kid was a good poster and was always respectful to other Magic fans so he was good in my book. In fact, much better than some 'real' Magic fans who bait other posters, flood our board with really dumb trade ideas, and add nothing of value.

True. RvM was respectful to the older Magic fans. He's a good person unlike some other fans of players ( esp the Darko fans.. you remember them? calling for Darko to have more touches than Dwight? )

Anyway, he never claimed he was anything but a VC fan. Will miss him

Can't wait for the Atlanta game on Monday. Actually all of next week will be a good test for the new crew.

@ pokerfan : trust me.. Jackataq, darkomiliminutes, darkoward.. im not sure of the rest. They were from the pistons board. VC fans are actually tamer compared to them IMO.

Any older posters wanna confirm or deny?

Hell!!! This nBA2K11 is way too realistic!! Played my 2nd game with the new lineup, Hedo hits the clutch 3 to win it all, then, all of the sudden: Hedo Turkoglu has an injury - Flu-like symptoms!!!

Another Vince fan here (although I didn't post much on this board, other then during a few game threads)

Although I'm skeptical of Arenas and Hedo (Richardson will be a solid addition I think), I wish you guys luck. I've become a pretty big dwight fan since VC joined the magic and hope he gets a championship or two

Hey guys Wizards/Arenas fan here. I think you'll be happy with Gil. He's lost some explosiveness, and will have to adjust to playing with a low post threat, but his game has got to be better than what Lewis has given you lately. He's certainly not afraid to have the ball in his hands late in the game. As far as attitude and locker room presence, his rep as a bad guy is way overblown. He's a goofball and not a leader, but he's not a cancer at all, he works his butt off, and has always gotten along with his teammates (even Javaris Crittendon. Gilbert got in so much trouble in part because he tried to change his story to protect him after the gun incident). I'll be watching a lot more Magic games this year.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Ok had time to think about it, this will be new coming from me .

PROPS TO OTIS.
(yeah thats right written by Maginno)

There are things I don't like about this trade but all in all considering the circumstances this was probably the best we were ever going to do so - Good job.

The alternative was sitting on his hands and pretending as many posters have that the team was good enough to win a ship. I got exactly what I wanted in Gil for Shard. Thanks are in order to Gil for bringing a gym bag to work with gunpowder on board. Without that we would be sitting on Shard until expiration.

Hate Gil all you want but even when all the planets align Shard was never going to be an allstar again where at least Gil has that possibility. So A+ . I don't know Gil and no one here does. Given Otis' relationship with Otis he will do any and everything to fit in and behave.

The phoenix equation? Downside is the lack of a backup center. whatever we presently have now can't be taken seriously. Once Dwight comes of the floor we have a serious issue - a similar weakness to Miami. We get to see if Jrich will work here and if not then its no worse than if we just played out Carter for the year. except of course for carrying hedo's contract. Hedo? Wow, I can't seriously believe that we wanted him back but my bet is Suns said "hey you have to help us out of this contract."

So there we have it. Its an all or nothing proposition. Its not Melo , its not Paul but that was always a pipe dream that was not going to happen - now at least. We simply did not have the pieces to pull of trades that didn't have some downside to them. The biggest downside I see is how will these mesh? and how fast? We need it to work in a relative short period of time. We have to know what we have this season before resigning JR to what the market will ask. Howard is right this is not a long term good plan but doing nothing at all and watching Dwight walk out the door wasn't either.

So not over the moon thrilled as if we got proven superstars (at least at present) but we never had the goods to get that so this was nearer to the best Otis could do.

Honestly, despite the fact that some Gilbert and Hedo are overpaid, what actually made it better is acquiring Hedo. I think his arrival would really help us tremendously this season. Contenders usually suffer a huge step back by making a BIG trade during the mid-season. By acquiring Hedo, we actually fastened that development.

It's the same here maginno. I've always been vocal about my skepticism about Arenas, but I think I've been able to rationalize bringing him aboard. At this point, and over Rashard Lewis, we really have nothing else to lose. It's bringing in Turkoglu which kind of ruins things for me. Phoenix probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger if we weren't willing to take some of their crap back. Oh well.

that is an excellent point. overseas fans or fans outside of NA usually have no choice :-?

People just enjoy basketball for different reasons. There is no right or wrong reason.

It's amusing how guys like NoLimit act as if they're superior to player fans just because they're 'loyal' to the Magic. Loyalty doesn't mean you aren't one of the worst posters on the board LOL.

That Gil wll wear no. 1 makes sense in light of Otis' comments about Arenas loving Penny Hardaway growing up.

You know what's funny with Arenas coming here and wearing #1 it's almost like we have a new age, poor mans version, of Shaq and Penny...

You got the dominating big man inside...and the dynamic perimeter scorer and who can play PG/SG

don't kill me !! :D

If you are a foreigner why would you chose to be a VInce Carter fan. Wouldn't you choose a player that is not a major dissapointment?

This team will be better than the 2008-2009 roster.
