Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIV: Offseason Edition
Given this team's history of operations, i'd suspect Bower will get the job.... and that just sucks.
All I have to say is, what did he ever do in New Orleans to warrant him being in consideration for future GM opportunities? the guy had Chris Paul on his team, and failed to build around him. if the team is serious about building around Dwight, then why put someone like that in charge?
i'm liking any name i hear out of San Antonio or Oklahoma. only problem is that a lot of these guys have draft picks as the tells of their abilities to build a good team. i'm hoping this team isn't relying on draft picks this summer/next summer, otherwise it's an indication that Dwight probably isn't in the picture.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIV: Offseason Edition
Bower actually put together some good teams in N/O despite crappy ownership, regardless I remember it was either David West or Chris Paul being interviewed saying how Bower soured them both on staying there because of never wanting their opinions on things.
Anything with the Spurs label on it works for me, be it Weaver or Lindsey, that's the organization you want to emulate our lack of regard for the draft is disgusting

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Nets and Magic Trade Idea
Assume the Nets win the #1 pick in the NBA draft.
Magic Send:
Dwight Howard
Hedo Turkoglu
Nets Send:
#1 Pick (Anthony Davis)
Brook Lopez
Marshon Brooks
Gerald Wallace
Jordan Farmar
The odds are that Dwight is going to leave anyway and I think this is a great mix of talent to help start rebuild the team.

If the Magic are gonna lose Howard after this year and there is any way we can send him anywhere to get Anthony Davis that deal is a must....even if we get almost NO other assets in return.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIV: Offseason Edition
Just read an article on how the Lakers can rebuild in the LA Times and i found some good laughs
Here are some jewels from the comments section
http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... ory?page=1
Send Andrew Bynum and a future first-round draft pick to Orlando for Dwight Howard
Here we go again.
Pau Gasol's the 7-footer the Lakers want to trade, but let's face it: His value dropped steeply the last six months. And let's end all the Gasol-for-Deron Williams talk right now. The Nets aren't that silly …are they?
Anyway, Bynum for Howard helps two teams put completely different looks in their frontcourt without a steep drop-off either way.
Orlando's taking the bigger gamble because Bynum's a one-time All-Star and Howard's a gazillion-time All-Star, so the Magic gets a first-round pick as well.![]()

There's also the question of whose body parts are the bigger risk — Bynum's knees or Howard's back?
Here are some jewels from the comments section
1) Trade Bynum for Love and Pekovic, Move Gasol back to his normal posiition of Center
Dwight Howard = Larry Johnson = Damaged Goods. His back is done, he's never going to get the same lift and explosiveness he had before, what good does it do for the Lakers to get a undersized 6'9" center that CAN'T JUMP?
Guess who does? Andrew Bynum. Screw Howard. As far as what's worse, Bynum is much more skilled, Howard is more athletic. Howard's back will rob him of his athleticism before Bynum's skill disappears. Howard is the bigger risk at this point.
2) Only reason to make this trade is Bynum's attitude and penchant for not showing up. I'd just suggest we should be getting the draft pick back rather than sending one Orlando's way, particularly if Bynum agrees to an extension.
If you get rid of Bynum for Howard say goodbye to the Lakers post game and hello to poor freethrow shooting, no mid range, hooves for hands, and poor crunch time efficiency.... and for those who say "Dwight shows up every night" just remember he quit on his team this season because he didnt like his coach. You really want that kind of diva here in LA?
Lopez is all offense, no D or rebounding. Now if NJ gets lucky and gets a top 3 pick (so they don't have to trade it), Williams and the pick for Bynum works for me.![]()

I would cream my pants if we got Anthony Davis, Lopez and Brooks AND had Turkoglu taken off our books.
Not gunna lie.

Agreed.
AD is the real deal in my opinion. His skills and body frame and dominance remind me of a young Dwight Howard (Let's hope he has better character than Dwight).

Why would Wallace want to come to a rebuilding situation when he can play with Deron and Dwight in Brooklyn and compete for a championship? Secondly, why would we want to tie up our cap space with a 29 yr old forward if we are rebuilding?

Definitely take it. Anthony Davis, Brook Lopez and Marshon Brooks for Howard, Hedo and Duhon is about as good as a deal we'd get for Howard. We could then swap Ryan Anderson and JJ to a team like Houston for Lowery or a package for Monta Ellis.

give me davis/Lopez+brooks and take Hedo off our hands and i'm good.....
PG:??/Draft pick
SG: Brooks/Redick
SF: Liggins/Harper
PF: Davis/Anderson
C: Lopez/Anderson
Anthony Davis would have to be a PF in the Nba so......We would have a logjam at the PF.....so you would have to get rid of either Anderson or Big Baby....also you got Earl Clark....somebody got to go but who? Do we let Anderson Walk and keep Big Baby or the opposite?

Strongly Agree. Top 3. Troy Weaver, Danny Lindsey and Pritchard. If we fail to hire any of those guys we just epically suck as an organization.

He expires next summer IF he executes his player option, so if they take Hedo back we would be shedding salary for 2013. Doesn't have to be Wallace just a filler maybe Brooks or Morrow, the centerpiece is Davis anyways

Depends on the Coach and what style he wants to play. I say keep BBD and try and trade Anderson for an upgrade at the SF. Also I don't know if Liggins can play SF.

Pritchard's record is not stellar, but better than Bower's for sure.
I agree Darth, if Walsh isn't available, that would be my top 3. With Lindsey being first.

YES.YES.YES.
That's the best return I've seen for Dwight yet.
