Likewise I expected the amount of criticism he received to have an impact on his free throw shooting, decision making, and shooting in general. I mean Nick Anderson as a veteran missed 4 free throws in the 95 finals, and it impacted his free throw shooting for the rest of his career.

Admittedly Fultz has not shot well from three, but he still puts them up. He does hesitate on occasion, but when he hesitates he is generally looking for a more efficient shot for himself or a better shot for another player. I expected he may need some early season coddling, but I can see the chip on his shoulder, and I love it!

I think the only confidence issue Fultz had was that he couldn't trust his shoulder to not have pain when he'd shoot once the TOS started to effect his shot. I don't think he had the yips at all like the stage was too big in Philly or he couldn't handle the pressure of being a #1 pick.

Fultz, going back to highschool, had tics. I think the propensity to tic got exacerbated with his TOS and general struggles in Philly. That's where the "yips" comments hail from, imo. All the above just my personal opinion, except that he had tics is absolutely not in doubt.

But amazingly, not only is he over his TOS, I haven't seen a single tic in his many interviews this regular season. I think he's turned a corner more than just physically and chapeau to him for his hard work and self belief.

Good catch. I think he was lucky that we aquired him, not many teams have such a robust player performance department. We needed him and he needed us. If next year he develops into our number 1 option everything falls into place. Vucevic will thrive as a number two, Fournier will shoot open or attack defense on the move, Isaac and AG/Okeke as a mixed post up, 3 pointers, cutters. What i love about Fultz is that he doesnt miss any steps. First he created mostly for others and didnt dominate the ball, then he increased his penetration rate, next year he will propably transfer his real shooting form beyond the 3 point line ( i hope). As a cherry on top his ft%. He has every chance to be a deadly shooter.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I don't know about deadly shooter. I mean, whatever about FT% and hand-eye coordination - two good predictors of 3pt success, his shot has been fecked around for years and looks pig ugly. Maybe that out-from-his-body-shot-putt is the best he can do so far post -TOS . Maybe somewher behind restricted mobility there's a glorious 3pt stroke that bubbles up like molten honey and arches achingly to a near-silent swish.

Doubt it though. I will say it won't be for the lack of application and ability if he doesn't make it as a sharpshooter. I'd take league average 3pt% for a PG no problem and I'd even settle for a bit less if his playmaking develops like it threatens to.

I don't like his body language at times but I do like his shiftiness on defense. He is pretty crafty.

So far better than I expected. If he could shoot normal he would be an all star.
I thought he will be making excuses and keep collecting paychecks while sitting on IL.
I have to say I was wrong on this one.

One thing I was right though. His orginal shot(which wasnt bad) wont be back. His new shot may be fine for around ft line but with that shot mechanic and realeasing point is and will continue to be brutal around the 3 point line.I dont think theres much room to improve there while he is using that shot mechanic and that low releasing point.

I hope Im wrong again.
He is my favourite Magic player atm along with Isaac.

tbh rest of the team could gtfo for all I care.Id just keep him and Isaac.

Fultz will get his jumper back IMO... He'll most likely resort to being a Wade/DeRozan type shooter where he'll likely have a deadly mid range game IMO. we'll look past that because he'll be a damn good all around player.

Not trying to spark a debate on his shooting form but I wonder why his 3 point form currently looks different from this video from this summer:

Read on Twitter

The shot in this video is how his midrange shot looks now and that shot is clearly a better shot in form and confidence. Maybe doctors are telling him he can't shoot long distance like that yet to prevent the TOS from resurfacing? I hope that's the answer because that means that he could get that shot back. I mean, that video is from this summer so he was shooting normal 3s just a few months ago.

Also - even currently shooting 23% from 3, he's our best point guard since tmac. Pretty awesome.

I’m guessing you meant guard as Darrell, Vaughn and Lue were our PGs during the TMac years.... but yeah. I’m higher on Fultz than I was of Oladipo (or any of our other picks) and I was a huge fan of Dipo.

On the 3-point shot. I think it’s just going to take time. Maybe he’s still experiencing pain on his regular shot. Maybe he’ll still need surgery next summer. Who knows but I’m super excited about his future. We finally have a star quality guard.

Yeah good call - I guess I mean Fultz is our best guard (especially playmaking and creating) since TMac. And since he was shooting that 3 fine this summer, I've got lots of faith that he'll bring that shot back onto the court at some point. Then we've got a stew going.

Most impressive play was the steal he got with about 1:15 left in the game against GS. His man drove towards the baseline and Markelle put his arm stretched down anticipating the bounce pass and that's what happened, got the steal and lead to two important Birch free throws. You can't teach those type of instincts, either you have them or you don't.

If his TOS doesn't come back and he stays healthy I think he's the star we've been looking for.

Its insane, but we deserve this after all this years right ? I am still very cautious about his play, but his finishes after contact, vision, passes and instincts remind me of Lebron-lite guard. Skill set of a star,

Someone said his stats line up closest with Bledsoe, projecting forward. I could see him being that type of player.
