Look at these contracts being thrown around for marginal NBA players.......wasn't that one of the owners biggest complaints/reasons teams were in the financial messes they were in? I just find this hole thing extremely amusing.

EVERYONE PANIC!!!!!!!!!! WE MIGHT MISS OUT ON A POTENTIAL ROLE PLAYER. QUICK GIVE NENE MAX MONEY, TYSON CHANDLER $15 MILLION PER.............AND WAIT IS JEROME JAMES STILL IN THE LEAGUE?!?!? WHO CARES, GIVE HIM $2O MIL PER ANYWAY.

I swear to god, I think 75% of the time fans would do a better job at managing a teams cap better.

Why would the Hornets even think of trading Chris Paul, they only have 3 players under contract next season when Paul opts out. CP3 has stated that he is not signing an extension, and he shouldnt because he will lose money if he were to sign one right now.

Okafor
Ariza
Jack, are the only guaranteed contracts they have as of now in the summer of 2012.

If I were them I would just fill out their roster with Vet minimum players and D leaguers, basically play for a high draft pick in a Deep draft this upcoming offseason. Then Amnesty Okafur, Offer Paul and Dwight Howard (who is in the same boat when it comes to an extension) Max contracts to play along side Ariza and a top draft pick.

2012/2013 Hornets
Paul, Jack
FA, FA

All in a warm weather city, which will play in the opposite conference as the Miami Heat.

Cant believe New Orleans wouldnt at least consider this, if it fails they basically start over anyways.
Paul, Jack
FA, FA
Ariza, FA
1st round pick, FA
Dwight Howard, FA

I consider today a success for the Magic.

They didn't panic and entertain the trade or free agent frenzy.

The Dwight to every other team rumors have died down.

Many teams that were rumored in the Dwight chase are out of the loop now.

Let the teams spend their money wildly tomorrow and wait until the Dust settles and by the time Dwight is a true Free Agent next summer, I bet the Magic will have much more ammunition to make things happen. That is most likely the plan. Besides, I think Dwight wants to wait until the Magic can assure him that they are capable of building a championship team again.

Sources close to process say Houston and Lakers constructed CP3 deal. Hornets were never really involved. Hornets had talked only with LA

What's this?

That unless he picks who he goes to he won't play for them. How much it would suck to get paid 16 mil and not do anything. Not like the Knicks are winning a ring and he's gonna miss out.

Ha! Get 100% of what he is owed. Sign a sweet deal with some European team in a nice city so he's making even more than he would here. Play out the year and come back next season and ring chase with a contender.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards it. How could they back off that rape of a deal if true.

Smokescreen?? Maybe?? Most likely is. But a few yrs back when we heard that Paul Gasol was going to be traded to the Lakers for Marc Gasol and a bag of chips everyone was saying no way that happens and then it did. I dont think this trade will happen though but if the Paul Gasol one did a few yrs back then you never know in this crazy league.

It defies logic...Why would they take a 30+ player on that contract? Bynum makes more sense for NO he's young and expiring but they probablly dont think its enough.

If you're wondering why there's been no Dwight Howard talk, source says Magic GM Otis Smith is "nowhere near" considering trade offers yet.

Lakers are in for a rude shock when they learn that the Hornets won't give them Paul for anything less than Bynum. if they do, then it's a crime against the league. Pau is good but he's not the kind of piece a team like NOH should be taking back.

i think the Lakers prioritize Dwight over Paul, and would rather keep Bynum up their sleaves for that potential deal.

in the end, Paul for Rondo deal gets done. Paul still available as a FA in the summer, and the Magic will be ready to steal him.

(i've got my crystal balls out today i suppose...)

That entire rumor with CP3 is straight garbage. No way there's any truth to it. No reason for LA to pull out of a deal like that.

Got to be bull - no way the Lakers back out of any deal for Paul unless the Hornets wanted Kobe.
