I don't want a small chucking guard who doesn't know how to pass or defend or play winning basketball in general. We need an intelligent playmaker, not a dumb chucker.

Because he is a high volume player who isn't going to have the ball in his hands enough with SVG to put up the same production he is in Golden State. IF (big if) Dwight promised to not opt out if we trade for Ellis, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But if that isn't the case, I'm having a hard time getting on board with gutting our roster for him. He won't solve all of our problems and we're creating new problems while we are at it.

Who cares about his scoring or how many shots he takes... it's the fact that he can CREATE for himself and for others on a dime when needed to during tough stretches, whether it's playing at PG or SG (hopefully PG)... there hasn't been a player like that on the Magic since Steve Francis... and Dwight wasn't in his prime back then... Dwight has never played with a player the caliber, athleticism, skill, and play-making abilities as Ellis... forget about shot attempts... he can do other things, such as pushing the ball, attacking, making athletic plays, and assists/passes!

And if Dwight promised to stay with us if we can get Ellis, you do it

What about a 4 team trade between Orlando, Boston, Utah, and Golden State

I cannot use the trade machine because of the holds but major pieces moving would be:

Golden State in: Rondo and Al Jefferson

Boston in: Steph Curry

Utah: Anderson and Redick

Orlando: Ellis and Lee

Obviously other players would have to be included to make salaries work and Boston would probably need a couple picks with Curry but I think this would make everyone happy.

Man, I sure don't want that on my team. An athletic wing who can get his own shot and drive to the rim? I'll pass.

didn't they loose that game though?

How does he create for others? His vision and passing is no better than Nelsons, whose is pretty bad.

Ellis would beast on the Magic AND WIN... Golden State is no-man's land... Kobe Bryant couldn't even make that team a winning team

We did just fine with Jameer Nelson... BTW, how many players are out there that can score at will that don't "chuck"?.... LeBron is probably the only guy I can think of that doesn't chuck.... Kobe takes 30 shots a game! Melo does too....... Durant? yep..... Rose? again yep... I know Monta is NOT on their levels, but, the point is I'd rather have a "chucker" than CAN score rather than a 3 point "chucker" that CAN'T score... like I said before, some Magic fans are so picky...

He isn't that great of a "creater." He has the ball in his hands a lot, and scores a lot. I'm telling you guys, if Ellis came here, you'd be disappointed in his offensive production. He needs the ball nearly all the time, and SVG just doesn't do it that way. Trading away what little frontcourt help and depth we have for him isn't the full out homerun you may think it is. Like I said, if it keeps Dwight, then I'm fine. But I just buy that it will. Monta Ellis is no Deron Williams.

mostly manu style. the fact that he does not have a court vision makes him available for magic, which also makes him a decent fit with the magic. win win.

Stan will favour Nelson too much, and it will kill any chance of the offense taking a new direction.

and if Jameer can't handle Dwight just talking about getting a new PG, how's he gonna handle it if we DO get one, and Jameer is sent to the bench?

but, the catch 22 is, i don't think anybody would take Nelson off us, except maybe Utah.

SJax and ilyasova with or without a 3rd team involved? ilyasova is FA and MIL will not offer enough to keep him.

Soem of you guys are blind. Nelson vision? I can dribble in circles and find somebody open. See how quick he is into and out of the lanes? Watching our offense tonight, its so predictable and slow. With Ellis you add a dimension needed on this team. Quick dribble stop, jumpshot. Wizards offense flow was better than ours tonight, we just hit more 3's.

You wouldn't take a 22/6 guy that shoots 81 percent from the line?
the main drawback for me would be his 3 pt shooting

Also he's not a PG, anyone here thinking he is, is delusional
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Life goes on... the front-court void will be filled by Harper (who I can see easily develop into a solid player at PF)... also what if we get Lee, contract aside, he's more than capable of playing big at PF... I know we all like Ryan (he's my favorite player on the Magic), but I would trade Ryan for Ellis in a heart-beat if it means we get a play-maker, athlete, and scorer the caliber of Ellis... this team so desperately need a guy like him.. it was apparent since the Lakers/Magic finals... oh how soon Magic fans forget :nonono:... he's so underrated too... I watch Golden State games just to see him play (and Curry obviously).

Idk what Ellis has to do to get respect around here... he literally tore us a new *sshole when we faced them earlier this season... went into 2001-2003 T-Mac mode late in the game, no one could stop him!

If it wasn't for GS's porous defense and inability to stop Dwight (they sent him to the line almost 40 times that night, remember?), GS would have won... now imagine Ellis playing on the same team with Dwight.
