Time to just accept this crap. We will get the worst deal possible, be stuck with brook lopez and a 20 win team next year, and with our luck will get the 4th pick to go alone with all those late 1sts

There is no ending to this that will be a good deal in our favor

hes okay but rebounding wise hes falling off. i like my centers to be guys who can board, block shots and score. he can just score rebound a little

Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXV "Is it over yet?" Edit

Post#83 » by MagicTownBaller » Tue Jul 10, 2012 12:03 am

Does the title of this thread say "Edit" instead of "Edition" to anyone else?

Anyways, we should all tweet the Rockets GM and tell him to go after Dwight HARD! All the Magic fans are behind him! We want the young players and picks!

He absolutely is not a top 5 center in the league. He rebounds and plays defense terribly, and has a poor shooting percentage for a guy we need to help us in the low post. He's basically no different than what Big Baby did for us on offense in the playoffs this year in place of Dwight. I don't want to pay $14 million a season for that. We already have it on our roster, and we're paying a lot less for it.

Brook Lopez at the 5 is absolutely not an upgrade over Glen Davis at the position. It might actually be a downgrade, because Davis plays harder and rebounds better. Davis averaged 19 and 9 against the Pacers, versus bigger men who are good defenders...and putting up Brook Lopez type field goal pct numbers.

Centers better than Lopez...

Dwight, Gortat, Hibbert, Bynum, Monroe, Chandler, Nene, Jefferson, Duncan(he's a center now), Marc Gasol, Noah. I could also argue for McGee, Jordan, Dalembert, and other players of that ilk...as they rebound and play defense. Which in today's game, are even more important than scoring for centers.

Looks like we were both making our lists at the same time.

Just take a look at the lists being created in this thread.
He's not even a top 10 center.
He's coming off a major injury.
And his best stat season came on a team some consider one of the 10 worst teams OF ALL TIME.

Rob is shrewd.
Rob is smart.
Rob is right.
Here's why.

He realizes there is no way Orlando can get value back in a star player or players. So the only real value Dwight has given the Magic's current situation (unbelievable as it is) is in the number of bad contracts that can be shipped out as part of the Howard trade.

On the incoming end (other than Lopez' contract), I'm going to presume all our incoming players will have small dollar values and contract duration, which will free up additional space for us to maneuver over the next 2-4 years.

That's the only way we're going to relaunch this franchise, folks. And with next year's draft not projected to have much in the way of can't miss blue chips, it will be even more important to have a system in place to accurately evaluate and draft the right people.

That is all.
Discuss please.

Rockets now have six non-guaranteed contracts and Livingston's partial, totalling $7 mil in confederate money to use in trades.

Can I make a deal with a Mod? If we don't trade with Brooklyn I get permanently banned, and if we do trade with BK, I become a Mod?

Lopez averaged 1.5 BPG which is 0.7 BPG different than Dwight, or less than 2 points assuming the ball being block had a 100% shot of making it, which it doesn't, but I don't want to get into the math.

If you want to hate this trade because of Lopez, it'd make much more sense to point out that he has foot troubles and has questionable rebounding desires.

Obviously we're comparing apples to apples, but it's like a granny smith and a fuji. Dwight is defense first, Lopez is offense. Just like there was a solution for Howard's lack of offense (stretch 4, lots of 3s), there is a solution for Lopez's lack of rebounding desire (Kris Humphries was 5th in the NBA in rebounding last year and is a 10 rebound a game guy) and that solution is a defensive minded, rebounding 4.

If Henny thinks this is the best move, he must have a plan to put a team that utilitizes Lopez's strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. We've stacked up a lot of big, traditional PFs and Cs if that is any clue to what he's thinking.

just curious, cos i know you're a Bynum fan, so would you prefer to:

a) trade for Bynum without the extension and take the chance of signing him next summer?
b) keep Dwight without an exgtension and take the chance of signing him next summer?
c) other

I rather we trade Howard to Houston. If Dwight leave, we'll likely to get good picks. This New Jersey deal is crap.
