Lawson put up 8/3 his rookie year, 12/5 his sophomore year.
Payton is putting up 8/6 his rookie year, 10/7 in Feb when he was starting more.

He is also 6'4 with 6'8 wingspan vs Lawson who is 6' with a 6'1 wingspan. You cant coach or teach height. No reason to trade for 27 yr old Lawson already being paid big money.

Look at the best PG out there, Chris Paul. What has he won yet? so PG isnt our most pressing need right now.

I mean, Lawson had a better rookie year than Payton is having. He had a TS% of 60%, which is ridiculous for a rookie. He was also getting less minutes than Elfrid is now.

As far as wingspan goes, they each have positive traits. Elf is and always will be physically better, but Lawson is and always will be a better shooter.

The more I think about it, the more I think that I would be too upset if we traded Elfrid. But if it weren't for differences in contracts I'm not sure it isn't a smart deal. Rookies will get better but there's no guarantee they will keep improving to the point that Lawson has.

Always, never?? How can you be so sure???

What deal could we make for Kanter? His stock is low, could be be a good back up centre?

Orlando sends: Ben Gordon + Andrew Nicholson + 2nd round draft pick

Utah sends: Enes Kanter

Would you guys do it? How much will he get on the open market?

no way Utah does that. They could easily find a center starved team, maybe someone like Atlanta, and get a late 1st round pick. Gordon and Nicholson doesnt do anything for them

Part of why he wants a trade is he wants more minutes (getting 27 now). He doesn't want to be a back up and would not be happy here. He doesn't solve anything defensively either.

Even with Kanter wanting out, he will still cost a lot in trades. They will likely want a first round pick. We aren't offering them that but I would happily shoot them an offer of Harris + AN for Kanter.

I don't know if Kanter and Vuc can play together but by grabbing him we go into this big man heavy draft with much more flexibility.

Official Trade Deadline Thread 2/19 3 PM EST

Post#90 » by orlando1214 » Thu Feb 12, 2015 6:31 pm

Hennigan definitely needs to be looking to trade Nicholson and Harkless. Neither are going to get playing time here, but I'm sure someone out there would be willing to give them a shot. Looking to trade BG, Willie, and Ridnour should be another priority. Maybe he won't trade them all, but there is no point in having them on the team anymore. Much rather have those roster spots to call up Curry and Siva.

I also think Rob needs to really consider trading Harris and KO. Harris should only be traded if he gets a big offer for him though, don't trade him just to trade him. However, I still think he is going to get paid way more than he is worth in the summer, so it might be best to get out now. As for Kyle, I still love the guy, but he has really sucked for about half this season. He no longer is that energy guy off the bench, just a chucker and a fouler. Dedmon has stepped up into that role making Kyle expendable. I also suspect the Magic can get good value for him though. Please give me something though Hennigan, our bench is painful to watch and is in need of new blood.

I'd rather have Harris going into restricted free agency than Kanter. No point in acquiring a poor mans Vucevic who we'd have to pay a big contract to keep. If we know the draft is PF heavy, why acquire an expensive PF at the cost of Harris in a trade? Makes little sense. Not saying we can't or shouldn't trade Harris, but not for Kanter of all people.

I expect at least a small trade involving Andrew Nicholson and/or Ben Gordon. At worst, many they give Gordon a buyout if he requests it although that non-guaranteed deal could be valuable this offseason.

Tobias Harris and Kyle O'Quinn could also be trade candidates given how one or both might not return next season.

Channing Frye could also be on the block.

Trading either could be a real stretch though.

Rob Hennigan is going to look at his options and I think Vucevic, Payton, Oladipo, Aaron Gordon and maybe Dedmon (Cheap contract) are safe,

Again, I feel at least a small trade but would be surprised if a surprise did indeed happen.

If the reports are true and Orlando is moving Andrew because of their surplus of bigs then why would they go after another big?.... Any trade, IMO, involving Nicholson is going to have us getting some type of second round pick in return. I doubt Hennigan wants any salary coming our way. Again, we're overrating AN here if we think he could get us Enes Kanter.

Yeah, the more I think on that the more I think this would be a trade for the sake of making a trade. I do think that the right Harris trade could be great for us, but yeah Kanter probably isn't the right guy.

unless we are considering Vuc playing PF more and getting another big body that can play center. I believe Enes is more defensive than offensive, but i wont claim to be an expert on his game at all

Cleveland is apparently dangling Brendan Haywood in hopes of gaining a solid backup PG.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes Denver's Jameer Nelson and Orlando's Luke Ridnour are high on their target list.

Does this interest us at all?

if they throw cash our way to buy him out, i guess. Though ridnour is the one vet i kind of want to keep. Hes solid for us and is kind of a coach while hes out there.

He has a team option for next season. So there is no real reason to buy him out. We can see how he fits in for the rest of the season and then decide if he is a guy to keep around.

I don't really see much about this to feel positive or negative about. Just shuffling the deck.

Luke Ridnour is a solid back up PG? Ok Brian Windhorst if you say so.
